This replaced our older larger Ring device that was no longer holding a charge. The new unit is much smaller, better resolution, and is directly connected to our original doorbell wiring with no battery. Installation was a bit challenging because apparently our 30 year old original door chimes and transformer finally gave out. I called Ring support and they were fantastic. They walked me through replacing the transformer and bypassing the or old chimes. Then they helped me reconnect my existing Ring remote chime to the new device. Only one disappointment was the Ring video subscription. I was going to try and reuse the old Ring device elsewhere, but they were asking for a completely new annual subscription fee. Very pleased with the Ring Doorbell Pro 2 wired. The installation was not simple though. You will need to buy a higher capacity transformer and will need to direct wire from the transformer to the doorbell. Even though the instructions say you can wire through an existing doorbell chime. If you do, the existing doorbell chime may not be designed to accept a higher voltage and could start a fire. When I followed the instructions and online directions from Ring, my existing doorbell chime started buzzing and then smoking. I turned off the power, removed the doorbell chime and then directly wired from the transformer to the ring doorbell. Now it works exactly as it should. I find that the audio communication between your phone app and the actual doorbell is fairly delayed so it isn’t like you gag you are on the videos where there is clear communication with someone at your front door. For me, the ring doorbell ultimately functions more as a security camera. Overall, I am glad to have it and am glad I went with the wired version because having to charge a battery every month or so to keep my doorbell functioning would be very frustrating.

Product Gen 1 when battery powered has very weak wifi range. I have both 4G and 5G networks at home and connection is constantly lost even with router placed within 10 feet of my ring.Furthermore, the paid subscription to motion recording is suspect as many of the videos are not captured. Using the Ring app you will also find that connecting to your live feed is usually delayed so long that your guest/porch pirate is long gone before your phone connects to your Ring camera’s live feed.I would not recommend this product to anyone simply because in the event if an issue they will only receive another automated tech response suggesting you go to a community forum for answers.Shame on Ring for this. Sustainability at its best. Not interested in another dead end “brand response”.Thanks

Pros: When functional the motion detect is an excellent example of how the camera and computer technology can be used for practical purposes.Cons: The reliance on a wifi signal for any connection between the door bell and sounder is problematic. Even the slightest interruption causes functional delay. The "Processing" delays before being able to connect video and audio remotely make the system increasingly useless. Callers to a house, especially delivery, mail etc. Do not have the time / prepared to wait several minutes for a response. A system that tells you that someone pressed the doorbell some time ago is not helpfull in answering the door. The excessive delay, before the doorbell sounding again is also problematic for those with limited hearing. This camera security doorbell works only with Alexa function which is so disappointing as i have google smart devices everywhere and can't call up video doorbell unless i purchase alexa devices which I'm not going to change so i ended up selling very cheap to a friend. Testing on his alexa devices seemed to be okay but no cloud unless you pay expensive fees. very short trial period. Been looking at reviews on Aqaro G4 doorbell, very impressed thinking this better option as i need wired doorbell as battery one's are useless whatever brand or cost. Have tried three well known costly brands and they lucky to last 2 to 3 weeks i find constantly recharging batteries, only issue with one review on Aqara doorbell was camera didn't show much floor vision for delivery but ... Aqaro security video doorbell has a sd card slot for recording and playback which eliminates cloud need, up to 512 gbt storage. ring doorbell is Alexa only but this other doorbell is compatible with Alexa and google plus apple kit. Suppose if you have Alexa and happy to pay for cloud storage this doorbell is okay. Camera resolution is good on ring doorbell though.
Really impressed by this device, I'll be taking the subscription at £3.49 a month. No-one can get near the house without us being alerted (this is called an event) and with the subscription, you can download any event or trackback through previous days.Downside is that Information on what is needed with the video doorbell was scant, with the wired bell you obviously need an 12v supply and a WiFi router. Note your existing chime will no longer work once you've wired this in, you can buy a chime but its not really necessary with the app on your phone or device (provided you keep it near you). There is a lot to like about this product, but unfortunately, a lot to dislike too. I like having access to what is going on in the front of my house, which is it's main appeal. But, I found the installation instructions an app very confusing. The app is laid out very poorly and is non-intuitive. It forces you to search for the poorly worded functions under each tile until you find it one that you think is the right one. Then have to experiment with it to see if it is actually the function you wanted. The pause/sleep function does not work, so you keep getting alerts even after you have put it into sleep mode. One other thing that was annoying was the constant "advertising" pushing you to get their cloud service. This is very clearly a marketing-centric company ... I’ve owned A ring doorbell for the past four years, but had the first generation and I’ve been wanting to upgrade. So I bought the ring doorbell, pro 2 when it went on sale for Black Friday. It is considerably smaller than the first generation one so I did have to drill new holes into the masonry of my house. However, it was very easy. The ring doorbell app walks you through the entire process of of the set up, including video animations. The angled mounting bracket was perfect for my house as I needed that for the location of the doorbell. next, connecting the tiny doorbell wires is perhaps the hardest part of the process because they are so tiny to hook it onto the screws of the doorbell. It auto updates so that takes an extra few minutes, but everything is automatic and you just have to wait a couple of minutes. As far as performance is concerned, the ring doorbell pro two is a huge upgrade over the original. Visual clarity and resolution of the fish Lens and viewing field is fantastic. My wife was impressed with the improvement. Additional features, including Birdseye view when when viewing footage is a cool feature. Night vision and clarity are great as well and love the upgrades. Also, with the purchase, Ring offered a free skin for the doorbell. And I selected one that matched our door. Very nice. The recordinglinkage to our ring video Camera is seamlessOverall well worth improvements. I highly recommend this product.
I absolutely HATE Ring!! What a huge waste of money. I paid over $600, the device is expensive, plus cost of installer, they do NOT tell you that you have to upgrade your transformer and buy a new one plus install fees there so the costs just keep adding up huge. And it works like garbage! Delivery people can place a package on my porch and 50% of the time I receive NO Notification, there isn't even video of the event, even though my set recording area is my porch & sidewalk. They don't tell you there is a HUGE DELAY, ie my friend comes to the door, enters the house, we have been chatting for a while and then ring tells me that there is someone at my door. Enormous delay, its wifi! What a useless device! Same thing with package delivery, they are long gone with huge delay before it tells you of someone on your porch. Then mine went offline, this disrupted my life for 2 days, with lots of run around and no help from Ring or their installer On Tech, no manager ever called me back. The doorbell became so incredibly hot I was worried my house was going to catch on fire. Still, No Help whatsoever, Ring told me to unscrew the doorbell, take it off, unhook the electrical wiring myself & let the doorbell rest for 1hr before installing it back on again, as this is common & the device can't stand heat. I live in Las Vegas!!! I didn't have the type screwdriver or size needed & they wanted me to unhook the electrical wires??? Are they nuts??? And this is normal they tell me. What??? Now delivery people don't ring my doorbell because they see Ring & Ring doesn't notify me or I get extremely delayed notification so packages can sit for hours. When I had a regular doorbell, delivery guys would ring the doorbell & I knew instantly I had a package on the porch. After 2 days of no help & no manager call back, I called an electrician to remove it so my house doesn't catch fire & I'm throwing it in the garbage! Now I have to go buy a regular doorbell & pay for install. Such a HUGE waste of money!!!! And it doesn't work as claimed at all, despite many phone calls to Ring to improve or fix it.
