First of all we love Dyson and have 2 of their vacuums. However, this unit is absolutely overpriced for what it is. I knew going in that the “cool” mode was simply a fan, And as a fan, it works pretty well, however, at this price you could buy 10 good fans, or an actual portable air conditioner! As a heater, It only blows at about half power compared to cool/fan mode. So unless you’re sitting close to the unit, it’s not great. There’s also no removable cover or filter to clean inside the fan, and our unit started having overheat issues/codes within a few months. I got it working by blowing it out with an air compressor, which I now have to do every couple months to get it working again. I bought this, partly because it was on offer but mainly because you can actually set the temperature rather than guesstimate it - which seems to be the situation with every other electric heater that I have looked at. This doesn't take much floor space and brings my living room up to the set temperature efficiently. The thermostat doesn't seem to suffer the sort of 'creep' that I have found on other heaters where it starts off at a desired temperature but this gradually gets hotter during use - far from ideal in times of high energy costs. The first one I had had a faulty thermostat but was replaced without quibble. The heater is fairly quiet when running . The remote is pretty idiot proof and attaches to the heater magnetically

I have several of the Dyson heaters (6), and I really like them! They are SO convenient, small and can be used for the summertime (just to move the air around - not really for air conditioned air, or true cold air) and also to add just a liittle touch of heat in the wintertime. I would not recommend this fan for the sole heat for an area, though. We have a big house, so adding these little guys wherever works well for us. I have six because they never die. We have slowly added one at a time. The problem is that QVC used to have different colors in the colored area - rust, blue, gray, red, etc and PURPLE. The one that we were looking to upgrade this time is a PURPLE one. I was so excited to see this awesome fan offered again in Purple, so I jumped on it. The only portable cool/heat in our home. First reason always — no exposed rotating blades — no worries when it comes to safety for my pups, visiting children. The airflow output is strong, continuous with jet focus.Easy to maintain/clean with no blades, no covers — nothing to try to take apart. Magnetic remote control.I own multiples of Dyson brand cool/heat combos; Operate throughout my home in occupied rooms as needed creating cooler room in the hot summer months, warmer room in the winter months; reducing my heating/cooling costs. It is low cost if compared with other systems used in colder climates. There are just two of us in a bit more than 2200 sq. Ft. The Living, Dining, and Kitchen are open. Two of the bedrooms are rarely used. We like a cool bedroom. I set our thermostat to 77 in the summer. That is too hot to be comfortable. It is definitely too hot for me if I am working at something. I keep the bedroom doors and vents closed. The two Dyson lower the temp in the open area which is where we live in the daytime. When we have company for a few days we just use the Heat Pump at a temp comfortable for all.
This has tripped my circuit breaker three times in 3 days. The first time it happened I was pretty sure it was the Dyson, but tried it again. It tripped it. Today, I tried running it with only the TV on, nothing else, and it still trips the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker it’s on has never tripped before. It doesn’t trip immediately, but does after running intermittently for an hour or so. I’ve been using the heat set to 72F. It kicks on and off. Today it had been running for about 20-25 minutes when it tripped the circuit breaker. It must be getting hot and instead of turning itself off, it trips the circuit breaker. That means the Dyson is defective. That’s a shame because I liked it, but if I can’t use it, I can’t keep it.
I bought this fan last week to help cool my room during a heat wave. I had high hopes based on the Dyson brand, and the reviews saying how surprisingly powerful it was at cooling down spaces. The product looks very sleek and is well designed from an aesthetic perspective. The matte finish does seem like it would be a bit high maintenance and would eventually show scratches/greasy fingerprints.The fan seemed incredibly underpowered compared to my expectations and the other reviews. For the price, it was incredibly disappointing and I ended up returning it. I feel like a standard tower fan could have helped just as much for 20% of the price tag. Needed something portable, easy to move around, and would cut off if knocked over. The unit comes with a remote, and when not in use, can be left on top of the unit, where a concealed magnet keeps it in place. Being a bloke, I did not read the instructions, but the remote is almost self explanatory. I live in a draughty old Croft, but this will heat my large room, in around 15 minutes, when I can then turn the heat down. The fan can blow hot air,( Cold in Summer.) directly at you, or spread it more out to the sides, all of course via the remote control. Because it does not have heated elements visible, pets are very unlikely to get their tails burnt!. On drawback?. Price, but worthwhile in the long term. Recommended.

Bought due to the heat wave, best buy ever. It's very neat and looks really smart. It's just the right size for a bedroom and, as it has no blades, is perfect with children around. The fact that it can be controlled automatically is a real bonus and the fast programme is very effective. I bought it mainly because it's a hot & cool fan and for the fact that Dyson products are always reliable and very stylish. It's very quiet so it can stay on all night, thank goodness.Bought from John Lewis as it's always reliable and has a good length guarantee.
