Redline MT-90 75W90 GL-4 Gear Oil, 0.9l.
Red Line Oil's team of chemists and blenders formulate fully-synthetic gear oil and chemically-advanced additives using only the world's finest base stocks. This makes Red Line Oil the premium product on the shelf. It's not designed to be the cheapest – it's built to be the best. Rather than cutting cost by blending into polyalphaolefin base stock for it's motor oil, Red Line Oil only uses superior polyester-based products – resulting in lubricants that are extremely stable at high temperatures while providing superior film strength at lower viscosities where more power can be produced. The world's top racing team and most discriminating enthusiasts use Red Line Oil products exclusively. There may be a different sponsor on the outside, but chances are it's Red Line Oil on the inside. Red Line MT90 is 75w90 viscosity and provides excellent low-temperature shift ability and improved gear protection at high temperatures. MT90 can be used if 90W GL-1, GL-3, and GL-4 gear oils or SAE40, 10W40, or 15W40 motor oil is required.

Everywhere I look this oil is highly rated for my transmission. It suffers from "5th gear pop-out" supposedly caused by a design flaw in 1991-1994 Sentras with the FS31R5, 5 speed tranny. I'm too destitute to be able to get it fixed and I don't have the shop space to do it myself (otherwise I would.) But it occurred to me that part of the problem may have to do with having a "quick-change oil" shop top off the tranny with "whatever oil" over the course of two years and a leaking seal that I just ignored. That off-oil may have heightened the problem. Now that I have replaced the seals, this is not to say that just putting the best, correct oil in is going to fix it, but like Bugs Bunny says, "It couldn't hoit!"

Don't be fooled when replacing old gearbox oil into buying the one with the biggest numbers and the most certifications!! This oil is SUPER high quality, no doubt, but it has been formulated specifically to have enough friction to correctly engage the syncromesh and make a beautiful smooth gearchange hot or cold. Yes I wasted many many dollars on super expensive full synth certified to high heaven grade a+++ oil -- that was TOO SLIPPERY and led to a poor shift action. Give this oil a go, I wish I had earlier. This stuff is brilliant. My Mx5 gearbox was a bit crunchy from second to third, especially when cold. This has completely cured it. Its been in for several thousand hard miles and is stiil excellent.

Ive been running Redline in both my drift cars for over 5 years now. Ive got to say it really reduces grinding and makes the tranny quieter and alot smoother. And although it doesnt last as long as the cheaper regular fluids, its definitely worth the upgrade. Nothing but praise for this product, Ive been faithfully using redline products for a while now, and I dont think Im going to stop anytime soon.
If you need GL-4 this is one recommended brand. Of course you can buy OEM, but Red line is one recommended brand.GL-5 will destroy your transmission if it has bronze or copper parts in it. The additional EP additives in GL-5 will eat apart bronze and copper parts. GL-5 is typically used in front and rear differentials and GL-4 is typically used in transmissions. We have 4 different MT vehicles and they use different fluids in different places. One vehicle uses GL-5 in the front Diff, GL-5 in the rear Diff, GL-4 in the Trans, and ATF in the Transfer Case. Different fluids are used in different places, so read your OEM manual carefully.
Smooth shifts in our BMW Getrag 260 Transmission, lower operating temps and safe for soft metal synchro's. The sulphur found in most GL-5 fluids will start to eat away the soft metals (brass synchros). This fluid works perfect for our BMW E30 endurance racecar. Good stuff
I had my transmission oil changed at a Toyota dealer, $175+ with a discount coupon, as soon as I drove off the lot I noticed the gears grinding and synchronizers confused. I went back to the dealer and asked what kind of oil they used, it turned out to be GL5, not good for the FJ manual transmission. The dealer told me that it wasn't the oil, they claimed I needed to rebuilt the trans. I changed the oil to Red Line and now transmission runs better than before I brought for service to the dealer, great product.
My 2 Daughters both own 2006 Mazda 3 vehicles. I changed the gear oil at 80K, with a full synthetic quality GL5 grade gear oil, but have since developed 3rd gear syncro grating issue, and rough into 3 rd gear change trouble, in one of the cars. Am pleased with lighter Redline GL4 gear oil, as 3rd gear syncros operating much smoother and better now, cold or hot. I will continue to monitor, over time, if issue corrects itself, remains the same, or gets any worse. Time and kilometers, is the only true test of any lubricant products, as well as harsh race condition use.
Started to get a little grind shifting into 3rd gear. Someone suggested MT90. After filling my trans with the MY90 there is no more grind at all.
This is GL-4 and they quit making this. Making it more expensive. The dealership replace transmissions now with GL-5 which is not good for yellow metals and causes corrosion. Since its cheaper for all to use GL-5 thats what dealers/mechanics are putting in for transmission flushes. I bought this 75w-90 GL-4 at a good price and its definitely worth putting the correct fluid in a high heat tranny. Especially when your manual states to use GL-4 only so yes I highly recommend using GL-4 75w-90. In high rev high heat trannys.
