The good things about this headset are the 7.1 surround sound and the comfort, but that's about it. The actual quality of audio is quite bad since there is no USB sound card included like the blackshark V2. I had a spare USB sound card from my old logitech G430 so I used that, which did improve the sound quality considerably. Unfortunately to use the sound card I needed to use the included mic/headphone splitter, but doing so disables the mic since Razer only wants you using their sound card on their $100+ headsets. My only option to use both the mic and headphones is to use the front IO aux on my PC and deal with the abysmal audio quality.Overall, can't recommend this headset unless you've got an actual dedicated sound card in your PC, but if you have one of ... If you are like me and spend more time listening to music or browsing YouTube then doing competitive matches, the 7.1 surround system is cool but is certainly not a selling point. Like the Kraken X's, they have a splitter cable so if you have an older PC, you can still access the headphone's microphone and audio fine. They also come with a black Razer pouch, which though is cool, is ultimately useless.The overall design is pretty cool and the common praise of its comfortableness is founded - it is very comfy, even more so than the Kraken X's, which itself is already quite comfortable. It's important to note that the Razer headphone bands are independent to one another, so you'll have to try and balance them out yourself, which is an extremely minor inconvenience.One negative I have is its lack of transparency in regards to getting the serial code, which is the only way you can gain access to the 7.1 surround system feature. There are little to no tutorials online or by Razer themselves, so I did it the hard way and solved everything by trial and error. They are surprisingly easy to remove - just gently lift the ear cushions up with a flathead screw-driver and then rotate it as you would with a tap and it's out. Putting it back on is a lot more difficult though - you have to slowly mend the plastic rubber found on the inside of the ear cushion and ease its way back into the small crevice. It'll make a lot more sense when you actually do it, trust me, but it is a bit of a pain.Overall, I am very happy with these headphones even if they're a bit annoying and gimmicky. Just remember that they are NOT like the V2's - I've made some minor but nonetheless annoying scratches on mine trying to hear the seven clicks by jamming the screwdriver in various different areas only to realize it was already loose, which was then when I realized the removal and implementation of the ear cushions are vastly different between the V2 and V2 X. Luckily they're minor, the black scheme covers it mostly and I'm not planning to sell it, but it's notable enough to mention anyway.

I would NOT recommend buying this headset if you intend to register it for support or to access the 7.1 surround app. I just bought the headset 3 hours ago and, for the price, I am satisfied with the technical qualities of the product. I am NOT happy with the DIFFICULTITIES in registering the headset and the potential impact of using the product afterwards. To register the product, you need the Serial Number which is found under the left ear cushion. A Youtube WARNED HOW HARD it was put the ear cushion on and they were not kidding. I thought I would have no need to take the ear cushion off so was not worried. I should have paid attention to my initial impression. I am still trying to get the cushion on and may end up returning the product.

I don’t have a big head and find after prolonged use I rather just use the speakers. The sound is good but it needs more bass. Also after playing for about an hour I noticed my ear will get sweaty since they are so tight and the material is not breathable. It does have a short cable for headphones only but it does also come with a extender that has the microphone input on there. I think it’s about 8-10ft so it’s not bad. It’s bright green too so you won’t get it mixed up with other cables. The quality is great though so I can’t knock it for that. My local BestBuy was limited on options so went ahead and purchased these thinking I still wanted Razer but also save a little cash. These aren't terrible, but don't expect any noise canceling and the green cable probably isn't everyone's style. The sound quality is ok but that's about it. What can you really expect for $60 though? Haven't tested out the microphone yet.What I do like is how light they are. Unfortunately for me, these are also meant to replace the headphones I wear at night watching movies - which is over a 3.5mm jack.To be fair, these are marketed as gaming headphones - though I'm not sure how they sound on a console - my kids only left me the PS3.I'm giving 4 stars for the comfort and the great sound on PC. If they weren't as good as they are there, they'd go back. They just don't sound quite good enough or get quite loud enough (for me) to use as an everyday headset for my phone.For those who are unfamiliar with what a 10 dB difference sounds like, 60 is a loud electric toothbrush and 70 is freeway traffic. Also, listening to prolonged sounds above 70 dB is bad for your ears, kids!
okay im going to start with the bad stuff first:1. it was a little tight and started to hurt my head a little bit but not too bad (keep in mind i have a tiny head so if you have a bigger head it might hurt more)2. it looks kinda funny on me and its quite big and clunky (might just look weird cause my head is so small) but it just is not my style and i do not like the way it looks3. it has on ear controls (volume and mute) which i do not prefer since it can be hard to find the buttons especially since the mute button is so tiny (but the volume is very big so thats easy to find)okay now for the good stuff:1. even though it may look very big and clunky its not too heavy which is nice2. very good mic and audio quality, i always worry about people being able to ...
