Who needs Frenchy's when you've this. For 1/3 of the price, this one's a no brainer.Make no mistake, she's heavy & I mean heavy if you havent used one before. Even the lid's heavier than you normal S/Steel pot. The lid's perfectly flat to provide a heavy seal to capture all that steam rising & pushing it down onto your dish. Even my lean rump stew was moist after 40min cooking.Saute on medium & cook on low heat (enamel coating will still burn on high) & washing will be a breeze using a non-scratch scourer to preserve the enamel coating for many years to come.

I've had my Pyrolux for several years now and it's been of great use in my meal making. I like that I can start my one-pot dish on the cook top then transfer to the oven for slow cooking. Clean up has been easy enough although the enamel does stain with spices/tomato etc. I only hand wash it. This pot will stay with me for a long time.

This product is a real find! If you haven't got the budget, or can't justify the expense of the major brands, this is for you. I have a 24cm Le Creuset but needed a 28cm for very occasional use, maybe only twice a year.I couldn't justify the cost of a major brand for such limited use.Well, surprise, this does an outstanding job, easily giving the same cooking result as the majors. It is slightly lighter which is a plus for this size Casserole and retains heat beautifully. And, as a bonus, it looks great. I love it and I highly recommend it.You won't be disappointed! Well done Everten!

It is excellent value. Beautiful blue enamel, and feels nice and solid. Performs as well as my larger Le Creuset. My only concern is that the outside enamel coating continues right across the base of the pot, instead of there being a base of exposed cast iron as in my other pots. It will inevitably become scratched by the trivets on my gas stove and my oven shelves. If you had an induction stove this could actually be a good feature as it might be less likely to scratch the induction surface than the bare cast iron.
Since our electricity is 100% renewable, I've been trying to switch to bench-top portable induction hobs, which I find difficult to regulate for even cooking. This little pot is a wonderful solution: the cast iron is perfect for the heat source, and its mass makes for even heat transfer. Yes, it's a bit heavy, but that's its virtue — cast iron is like that! I simply can't afford Le Creuset, but why pay hundreds of dollars when we've got this?! I make a lot of curries, stews, and throw-it-together and cook-it-for-a-while kind of stuff, and this is perfect! Great value for the price, easy to clean — in short, a delight.
I’m in love with this casserole. It’s the perfect size to make a double batch for our family of four or cooking for a crowd. I use it for casseroles, braises, shallow frying and much more. Easy to clean and lighter than many of the similarly priced brands. I have a smaller one in the expensive French brand but this size is more versatile and the quality is up there. Great value for money too.
I've got lots of enameled and non-enameled cast iron casseroles and skillets from different brands starting from expensive Le Creuset, Lodge, some mid-priced brands and Pyrolux. I'm not comparing Pyrolux to Le Creuset, but I'm comparing Pyrolux to other mid-priced brands and for the same price or just a little bit more money you can get a much better quality enameled cast iron casserole. Pyrolux has three main issues: 1) Thickness of the bottom and walls - it's much thinner and even a big casserole weight less than a casserole from a different brand. Certainly less cast iron was used. That leads to less even heat distribution which is the main purpose of cast iron cookware - distribute heat evenly across the entire pan or skillet. 2) Quality of enamel - it started ... MoreI've got lots of enameled and non-enameled cast iron casseroles and skillets from different brands starting from expensive Le Creuset, Lodge, some mid-priced brands and Pyrolux. You certainly not expecting it after the very first use. Enamel started cracking as you hit it with some heavy stuff. 3) Food sticks to it like a glue. It goes without saying you should use enameled cast iron cookware on a low or medium heat, but even at low heat food sticks to the enamel and it's difficult to detach it later. Other brands I've got don't have the same issue. So I guess it's the quality of enamel again. Verdict: Not worth buying.
I purchased one for our daughter for her birthday and she is really happy with it. I decided to spoil myself and get one too. I have a large deep one but this one is a great size for more of the pan size meals.A little bit lighter in weight than other ones too. Love it.
I have a smaller oval "Le Creuset" casserole but I have wanted a large round casserole for a number of years. I looked at getting "Le Creuset" and "Chasseur" but the cost was prohibitive. While searching on the Everten website I saw the Pyrolux brand which I had never heard of, and the price was a fraction of the others. I thought I would give it a try thinking I could replace it later if I did not like it.It arrived a couple of days after placing the order and I have used it a couple of times so far. The base is a bit more rounded at the edge of the base compared to the "Le Creuset" which I initially did not like as it decreases the area you can use to fry off and brown the meat, but this is a minor inconvenience. Later, when it came to mixing the casserole, this more rounded base I found was actually an advantage. In terms of cooking, the casserole dish gives a nice even heat and the lid is a great fit. The lid handle being stainless steel does get hot so you need to use an oven mitt to remove it. The surface of the casserole is great and cleaning up was at least as easy if not easier than my oval "Le Creuset". ever was.In summary, this casserole is excellent, costs a fraction of any alternative I could find and is just as good if not better to use! If you are looking for a large casserole dish and are not worried about the brand, only how it performs then get one of these!
I love this little pot. Perfect for sauces, stews and other dishes using 500gms of meat etc. Great that it can go from stove top to oven. Great size for a couple. I plan to use it in my caravan when travelling too. Highly recommended.
