POC Otocon Full Face MTB Helmet Matte Uranium Black Large
The ultimate in lightweight full-face protection, the new Otocon is a highly ventilated helmet made for the pressures of enduro. Features including a patented breakaway peak, the integrated Race Lock adjustment system and a dual-material liner with parts in multi-impact EPP, work together to extend protection and comfort for all kinds of riding. Removable cheek pads and a removable grill over the mouth give more flexibility to control ventilation, ideal while riding the climbing sections during long enduro races. Innovative airflow channels, optimized to channel air through the helmet for comfort at both high and low speeds. Removable cheek pads, which are easy to remove while riding, giving more ventilation when on the climbs between enduro race stages. EPP in the lower part of the helmet improves durability and sustainability, while an EPS upper keeps weight low. The lower part of the liner features an injection-molded cage for extra strength and stability. The outer shell is constructed from PC to give exceptional durability. Race Lock integrated adjuster makes it easy to find a comfortable, secure fit. A patented breakaway peak will snap off the helmet in a fall, enhancing neck protection. The smooth underside is shaped to house a GoPro mount. The grill in the chin piece protects the face from mud splashes. It can be removed for better airflow in warmer, drier conditions.

Just purchased the Otocon, it’s an awesome helmet. Great fit, the race-lock adjustment works well to keep the helmet in place and great that the front grill is removable. It’s super light and breathable, definitely didn’t get too hot when pedalling uphill.I’ve also got the Kortal and Coron, finally have an in-between for that extra bit of confidence and safety on gnarlier trails. The Coron really is a downhill helmet that’s too hot to use in Sydney for pedalling around.Thank you POC! Stoked

In my opinion, this helmet to be really great. The removable pads are a neat feature and, having 2 different sizes to get the best fit, was a welcome addition. However there is some room for improvement. In hot conditions, the sweat in my face, makes removing the helmet without loosing the pads very tricky. Also, there is no information on how to install the cheek pads in the documentation.

Comfortable, snug around the face without being hot and pinchy - no chipmunk cheeks. Great look and cool matt finish. The boa ratcheting device is easy to use and feels like it makes the helmet secure when sending gnarlier stuff. Really light which makes it good for pedalling, when that is required, too. Goggles fit into the opening really well (just need some matching Poc googles now).

The helmet looks great, is relatively well ventilated, and the head cradle retention system works well. My only complaint is the chinstrap; it uses the same cheap system/material that is found on a $50 helmet and is too short on one side. No matter how I adjust it, it either rubs up against my Adam's apple too much or I end up with a plastic buckle between the cheek pad and my head. I really hope they address this in their next model. My old 4 year old Met Parachute helmet (which was about half the price) has a much more comfortable strap despite being less adjustable.
I've had several POC helmets over the past 4-5 years and generally love them. I've worn a size Medium in each of them even though the circumference of my head is in the upper range of the fit guide. I purchased a Large Otocon Race MIPS this summer because the Medium wasn't available and could not adjust the fit in a way that worked for me...it was knocking around on my head. Recently, the Medium was finally available so I purchased one and could only get it on over my head with the cheekpads removed. With the slim cheek pads installed, there was no way it was going on my head...the helmet opening was too narrow.
This is my first full face helmet. I was worried about getting too hot but ventilation is great so far. I've been able to use this riding uphill in the mid 70s and had no issues. I'm hoping that stays similar during summer riding.I wish the rear wheel adjustment would go roughly another 1/4 turn than what is available. It's also slightly tighter on my jaw area than my head area. Definitely extra pressure, but not to the point of discomfort over 2+ hours of riding. Still like it.Love the selection of color!
Loved the color and the way it looked. Fit pretty well too. My main issue with it is lack of padding. I returned this item because it came with a broken visor, no big deal. However I elected not to get another one because the only soft padding in the helmet is around your jaw. The rest of the helmet is hard crush foam which in the event of a crash would protect you, however it would still be painful and I would not be surprised if you could get a concussion easily with this padding.
Great looking helmet. POC Otocon helmet size L 59cm to 62cm seem small and fits more like a 59ccm to 60cm helmet. Even with the less thick cheek pads the helmet is not as comfortable as the Troy Lee Stage Helmet. The helmet ratchet system is a nice feature to have and allows you to run the helmet with out cheek pads using the ratchet system to secure the helmet to your head although not as secure as a more snug fit with cheek pads in. Also the MIPS Integra is the lighter version of MIPS and having ,the yellow plastic version of MIPS I think the Integra MIPS will not have the longevity in protection that the original has. Time will tell.
Feels great and looks great. The Ora googles say that they are a seamless fit with the tectal helmet but also are a seamless fit with the Otocon. The Ora googles are easy to adjust and the non slip strips keep them secure on the helmet. The helmet break away peak is easy to reinstall and is sturdy. The helmet fits a little tight (small) for my head even with the smaller check pads that come with the helmet and my head is (51 cm).
Love this helmet! The ventilation really helps me know my speed. This keeps me safer on my EUC since I don’t have to look at my phone to know my speed. My other helmets can’t compare. The 3 vents in the face hole (lol) work better than any other channel air flow system I’ve ever experienced. I can actually feel wind inside the helmet moving across my scalp. The holes near the ears allow me to hear my surroundings, which also adds to that sense if safety I’ve been searching for. I have a huge head and dreads, and the large still fits great Took a little spill and the beak popped off without breaking, just as advertised. All other features exceeded expectations as well. If stolen, I would buy again tomorrow. Thanks POC!
