The vast majority of my pens are TWSBIs, with very smooth nibs, which I love. I knew the Platinum nibs are less smooth than TWSBIs, and it's a very cheap pen, so I wasn't expecting much. Is reasonably smooth The Platinum Prefounte checked every single one of those boxes, and knocked it out of the park for most of them It definitely doesn't have the smoothest nib of any pens I have, but it also feels smoother to me than a Lamy Safari (both pens with medium nibs). The graphite blue color is understated and looks black in most light, which is exactly what I wanted. I was afraid I would dislike the grip section because it is smooth and tapers down without something to keep fingers from sliding towards the nib. But I discovered I liked it and that, while it does taper downward, it is long enough and not slippery, so it hasn't caused problems for me. I bought a converter for mine because I didn't want to mess around with eyedroppering a pen that wasn't specifically designed to be eyedroppered, or carrying one around with me, and that was the right call for me. A couple of other great things I really like about the pen compared to other entry-level models are that it isn't backweighted at all when posted, there is not a cutout ink window like on the Lamy entry-level models (I love ink windows, but not cutouts), it's not heavy, and it doesn't have a heavily contoured grip. Overall, I'm very impressed and plan to buy more.

I thought this pen was going to be better than what most were saying. It is not as enjoyable to write with as my Prera, Kakuno. this seems to write slower. I opened the tines and still not flowing very heavy. Maybe it is the cartridge and may need to fill the body up with ink, but I would be scared it might get crushed being a cheap plastic instead of a heavy resin or metal. And the converters are too expensive to buy separately which shocks me. My jinhaos come with a converter, why can't these for a low end pen?I am not extremely thrilled with this pen but will use it if I get a shimmering ink for a pen I don't mind if it gets clogged with pigmented ink. Time will tell.

I don't think you will lget a better pen for $11.00 (or maybe significantly more) Really, this pen looks nice and writes very nicely. Mine is translucent dark blue, and looks black at first. It's pretty attractive. I have had mine for several months and have refilled it many, many times (I write a lot). It is starting to look like my everyday pen. I notice it now has some bite marks! It feels good in my hand as well. I couldn't ask for more.

Sophisticated Preppy with a metal clip. Writes better than many more expensive pens. I upgraded my 0.5mm Prefounte with a converter; but,it’s definitely not necessary. The Platinum cartridges seem durable and easily refillable. The converter is about same price as pen,IIRC. I like the Graphite Bleu pen because it is much less translucent than the other colors. With a 7-pack of every color Preppy plus a few Prefountes you would never need to buy another fountain pen. “Want” is another subject.GPC is the BEST!
Using the Platinum PreFounte fountain is a fun experience. I purchased the dark emerald green version to match the color of my pen chest. It is a very affordable pen with good ink flow and control of forming script letters. I chose medium nib which is always my preference and it was in stock and shipped within 24 hours from Pen Boutique. It arrived within 2 days and well packaged. One of the reasons I chose a Platinum pen is because I have a collection of Pilot refills that is only compatible with their pens. It is a durable pen and lightweight. I am putting it in the centerpiece of my collection because it has sleek looks. A great investment!
I am very new to the fountain pen world. This was a last minute throw in the cart to get free shipping decision. The pen is a pretty night sea color of blue. It's lightweight (which I love) and writes very smooth. Sometimes it doesn't flow as smoothly as I'd like but a little shake and all is well. Because I threw it in last minute, I didn't realize it was a proprietary cartridge. I found a converter and am looking forward to using some pretty, fun ink colors when the cartridge is empty. But I even like the blue/black cartridge that was included and I am not a black ink kinda gal--the saving grace is that it's more blue than black. I would definitely purchase another one of these pens, especially at this price point.
This has been such a good purchase. With the slip and seal cap it's a great option to keep at a desk always inked up.I bought two, eyedropper-ed them both, one with Aurora Black so I always have a black ink handy at my desk. The other I inked up with Noodler's Blue Ghost to write "secret messages" to my young nephews. The medium nibs have no business being as smooth as they are for a $11 pen. Seem very durable, and the upgraded metal clip and lack of branding make them much more ascetic than the Preppy.Thinking of getting another so I can always have Organics Studio Walden Pond inked up because I love the ink but don't often ink it up for my rotation.
If you're looking for a smooth and very affordable fountain pen, the Prefounte from Pen Boutique is an excellent choice. This pen is ideal for anyone looking to upgrade from a disposable pen or try out fountain pens for the first time. One of the best things about the Prefounte is its smooth writing experience. The pen glides across paper with ease, making writing feel effortless. This is thanks to its fine-point nib that provides excellent control and precision, allowing you to write with ease and without worrying about smudging.Overall, the Prefounte is a smooth and reliable fountain pen that won't break the bank. Whether you're a seasoned fountain pen user or just starting out, this pen is definitely worth considering.
I have a medium nib Prefounte that writes well, with wide wet lines. So I ordered this one to try a “Fine” 0.3mm nib. It had a very hard time losing ink from the included cartridge so I flushed it out and tried again. After, the flush it worked well though a bit scratchy at first. This subsided and it smoothed out and did a good job for a few days. Now it mostly doesn’t write. Not a big loss, but I’m finding the Platinum nibs seem to have more problems than I want to deal with. Of two Procyons, one (F) has never smoothed out. The Med is fine. So, 3 stars because half of them are good pens.
I bought this pen for the gorgeous color and because Platinum cartridges hold a large amount of ink. I've had one Platinum Preppy before this which I've lost track of but it was very much the same model without this dress. It is meant for daily, continuous use and it's perfect for regular loose-leaf paper with its Fine nib. Once i get going i forgive the dry start because it runs so smoothly. I dislike the hard and loud snap cap but it trains me to be mindful of capping too often, unnecessarily, before I've finished all my writing business. So it enables me to be more efficient in a writing session.
