The Google Pixel XL is a marvelous cell phone, but little it isn't. It is a nice lightweight mini tablet with a hugh almost 3.5A-H battery. The Pixel uses an AMOLED type screen, and as such continuously displayed bright images will wear down the individual LED's, causing a retro image to remain as an inverse when a white screen is displayed. It is similar to the retro images your eye sees after looking at a very bright image for a while. It is only a problem on white screens. There are essentially two variations that exist for US use: Those that came from the Google Play store, or its equivalent, and those that came from Verizon... at a discount. The model numbers, and physicality of either is absolutely identical. As far as I can tell, the only real difference is ... MoreThe Google Pixel XL is a marvelous cell phone, but little it isn't. The model numbers, and physicality of either is absolutely identical. As far as I can tell, the only real difference is in a database that Google hosts of Verizon models. When the user opens up the Developer options, and selects the Unlock Boot Loader option on a google playstore phone, the phone will get onto the internet by way of WIFI, and it will check the database at Google, and if the IMEI is on it, as a Google playstore phone, it will allow the boot loader to be unlocked. If this is attempted with a Verizon phone, the option to unlock the boot loader will be grayed out. Be warned, once a verizon phone, always a verizon phone. The phone will be automatically unlocked for GSM carriers after the contract is finished profitably, but it will never be unlocked into being a Google playstore phone. It will never have its bootloader freed of the verizon apron strings. There is a way of hacking the phone (for now), but it would be better if all Pixel owners would mount a campaign with Verizon to have the curse lifted. Otherwise it is a fantastic phone... but the Verizon model should be 1/2 the price of the playstore model because of the inconvenience it represents. I run LineagOS on mine, after hacking the phone to unlock the boot loader, but I am forever reminded of what I have done whenever I start the phone, or try to use a secured application like Google Pay, and find it is forbidden. The Google PixelXL is a wonderful phone, but you might want to avoid the phone if it was provided from Verizon. Be warned, those

With all the hype over smartphones these days it's almost refreshing to watch Google get their feet wet with their first flagship, the Pixel. I've had this device for a little over three weeks now and while it has a ton of strong attributes it falls short on a lot of features that normal flagships have. OLED Display, Again 2017 while this is still a premium phone and can handle almost anything you can throw at it having a display that can handle the same is particularly key when developing and desgining a device thats gonna be utilized by potentially millions of people. Wireless charging Again other brands have had this technology for almost a decade and have been putting more innovation and research into this specific field to ensure safety for all of it's users. Also it preserves the life of the phone from cord and socket damage. We not always the most delicate when it comes to handlingour phones and wireless charging wouldve been an awesome feature to have on a flagship. The Good Software Android Oreo is amazing! The UI could be a little more customizable without adding a ton of app store add-ons. However, the benefit of receiving Android updates and beta testing apps makes it all the worth while to have this phone. It operates seamless and downloads and connecting to WiFi and Bluetooth devices. The body is solid anodized brushed aluminum with a ceramic glass top half that ensure definite connectivity to WiFi , Bluetooth and approved service providers. Battery life is amazing Lighting fast charging makes this thing charge to 50% in a little under 30mins big plus. I charge up to 100% and my battery usually last about a day and a half and even though I purchased it refurbished mint it still feels like a brand new phone even being a year old. No visual blelmishes or marks. No scratches nothing. With all this talk over new phones costing almost a thousand dollars it's cool to know that if you look hard enough you can still time a steal of a flagship that's only a year old. Will definitely purchase my next piece of refurbed tech from this EBay store.

I loved this phone. I told everyone I knew to buy a Pixel. It was my favorite phone I have ever owned until Thanksgiving day. I was at Universal Studios to watch my senior daughter perform in what may be her very last and only(thanks to covid) high school dance performance. An hour before the performance, my camera suddenly stopped working. When I would try to open the app and nothing would happen. I frantically tried all of the trouble shooting steps. I even installed a new camera app. Nothing. Then, I read an article on Forbes and Reddit that explained that this is a huge problem with some Pixels after the latest Android update. What a disappointment at such a terrible time. I didn't have my camera for a once in a lifetime moment with my daughter or for the rest ... MoreI loved this phone. The whole reason I bought this phone was for the camera features. This really couldn't have happened at a worse time. I'm very disappointed with Google because apparently this happened with the Pixel 2s and there still isn't a fix. They are replacing some phones out of warranty only to get another phone with the same issue. We are home from our trip now and I will begin the process of getting this replaced. Huge disappointment.

For a 4 year old device, the Google Pixel XL holds up remarkably well. The screen is excellent, sharp with good contrast, could've a little brighter in direct sunlight but what phone couldn't? The Snapdragon 821 processor and 4 GB of RAM coupled with the latest version of Android make for a snappy, fluid experience with little to no lag. Battery life could be better but the overall condition of the juicepack was excellent considering how the phone sat on a shelf for 4 years. The camera is great with very good dynamic range in most lighting and excellent sharpness and color saturation. The one bottom firing speaker is loud and very clear. Haviya headphone jack is a plus and the overall fit and finish of the phone is top notch. Myself I prefer Android over any of the other options out there. Reason being is that there's a lot more customerization available. Plus you don't have to succumb to apples insane pricing structure. The pixel has excellent storage and services. The display is beautiful and if you're an Android user already you won't be disappointed. I was glad that I upgraded to the pixel myself.
The only reason I bought this phone was to root it. And this phone is not rootable. Under Settings, OEM Unlocking is grayed out (see third photo). Resetting it to factory defaults does not fix it. Removing the SIM card does not fix it. Connecting to WiFi does not fix it. Maybe if this thing came from VERIZON that would not be possible, but this is supposedly from GOOGLE. Either this thing was originally a Verizon phone or it is defective. When I boot into the bootloader by holding the power button and down volume keys it clearly says "Device is LOCKED" (very bottom of second photo). Ripoff Ripoff Ripoff. Please help me unlock the bootloader so that I can root this phone. Oh, also, the phone has scratches on it, but the bigger problem is that it is supposed to be the easiest phone to root and it is not rootable because you cannot unlock the bootloader.
The Google Pixel 4 XL 128GB surely is a staple in the mobile phone world, Google's persistence and keeping it simple makes setup a snap, I migrated from the Google Pixel 2 XL 128GB without any delays aside from 2 apps being unsupported in data backup via PC (app developers' fault.) It is a fast phone with a lot of user features, I love the simplicity of the facial recognition. I first thought early on that removing the fingerprint scanner would grow dislike on my end, but turns out that Google's facial recognition A.I. is reliable, no more sweaty finger prints when leaving the gym or ineligible prints on a cold day. The camera is a solid 6.5 out of 10, there's room for improvements, compared to Samsung's flagship S20 models and wide photographs, Google is behind. I would hope they compete within the next 2-4 years throughout that arena. Another fault is the limited storage options. Along with better cameras, comes larger storage usage - we need more capacity options. For protection, I recommend the vCommute case along with Zagg's tempered glass (anti-bacterial) screen protector.) Last worthy mention: We're still waiting for the Pixel Earbuds, WearOS is doing solid paired with Android, shoutout to @Fossil for the upgraded Gen 5! This device is an easy win for me.
I love everything about the Pixel XL. It's probably the smoothest, slickest Android experience I've ever had. No surprise since it's coming from Google. The camera and video recording are truly top notch. Google Assistant is incredible, even better than Siri and could soon overtake Alexa as being the smartest digital assistant. The only problems I have with the Pixel are its design, lack of waterproofing, lackluster bottom-mounted speaker, and price. With phones like the OnePlus 3 and Axon 7 costing half as much as the Pixel XL, it's hard to justify paying this price, especially when there's really not much the Pixel can do that less expensive phones can't. Really it's just the Google Assistant and Daydream platform that sets the Pixel phones apart, so you'll have ... MoreI love everything about the Pixel XL. Really it's just the Google Assistant and Daydream platform that sets the Pixel phones apart, so you'll have to decide whether those things are worth double the price. I'm not faulting the Pixel XL any stars because I knew what I was getting before I bought the phone, so the problems I have with it are things I knew about upfront. You're either going to be okay with the price or you're not. You can either live without front-facing speakers or you can't. But for what it is, the Pixel XL is really a great phone. This is how Android was meant to be experienced and definitely competes with the likes of the iPhone and Samsung's flagships.
I've been developing software for the iPhone for years, and I'm just getting into Android development - so take this nerd's perspective for what it is. The most important factors for me in choosing an Android phone were: Runs stock Android without extra software from a cellular vendor Great screen Great battery life I got all those things and more with the Pixel Phone. Google nailed it with this phone - it's super-responsive, the screen is gorgeous, and I love knowing I'm on the most recent Android version nearly as soon as it's available. This is a secondary phone for me without a sim card - but I find myself using it daily more than my iPhone. I've only been charging the battery every other day and that has not been an issue at all. The camera is also fantastic. The only thing I dislike about this phone is the fingerprint reader. The back of the phone is a strange position for the way I use my phone, and it only gets my fingerprint about 1/4th of the time. Thankfully I set it to stay unlocked as long as the phone is on my body, and that prevents me from having to use the reader very much anyway. I highly recommend this phone to anyone new to Android, or anyone who wants as close to Google's ideal Android phone as possible.
So previously I had a Blu R1 HD, which was a lovely Android phone, I loved it so, except for the fact that it couldn't receive calls reliably. That's a pretty core part of my needs from a phone, so with a heavy heart I went in search of another phone. I did plenty of research, and kept coming back to the Pixel. I wanted something as good as an iPhone but still Android, and this is exactly what this is. In my studies I read multiple reviews of the Pixel saying it overheated, it has poor sound quality, etc etc. When I received it, I plugged it in and started setting it up, and it proceeded to get super hot. I was thinking, "I should have listened to them, or just not have gotten a refurbished one. Oh well I'll give it a go and maybe return it if it keeps this up." ... MoreSo previously I had a Blu R1 HD, which was a lovely Android phone, I loved it so, except for the fact that it couldn't receive calls reliably. Well fortunately it's never done it again, and works great. I will say I do hear random clicks once in a while, while talking on the phone, but it doesn't bother me too much since it receives calls fine. Also, the only way you can tell this phone has been refurbished is it has a bunch of tiny little nicks/scratches on the back, but I use a phone case like a sane person so it doesn't even show, and even if it did who cares. And of course the camera is phenomenal, but if you did your research you already knew that. This isa great Android phone for a great price.
