Cheap Knock-Off!
29 March 2022DL

WARNING! Product is NOT genuine Philips Norelco SH90 shaving heads. It's a cheap knock-off. Came in a plain package with no mention of Philips Norelco. Not even a part number. Look at my pictures of the packaging and how the blades compare to my old genuine Philips Norelco blades (green). The genuine heads have more cutting blades and are V shaped. The product shipped had fewer cutting blades and are straight. The ONLY good thing about this transaction was Walmart made a quick refund.

I have been using and giving as gifts, Norelco shavers for the past 57 years (since 1962), and have never once been dissatisfied, until a year ago when I purchased the S9311/84. This model is certainly not one of Norelco's better ideas. The design is excellent, but the shaving capability falls flat on its face. It takes a much longer time to shave, the saving closeness and smoothness are much, much below what I have been accustomed to from Norelco. The shaving blades that come with the shaver go from mediocre to no good, and have to be replaced after just a few shaves. The replacement heads/blades are just as bad. All in all, this shaver has to be Norelco's worst ever. The pros are: Excellent design and aesthetics. The cons are: Missing shaving capability; takes ... MoreI have been using and giving as gifts, Norelco shavers for the past 57 years (since 1962), and have never once been dissatisfied, until a year ago when I purchased the S9311/84. All in all, I would not recommend this product.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT BUT HARD TO GET BLADE REPLACEMEN

I have 2 of the Philips Shaver series 9000 and they are fantastic. Expensive but worth the performance. I started using the 9000 in 2017 but then after I bought the second 9000 series, I forgot about the first. There were a few techniques on how to best handle the Philips electric shavers. But human are not created equal. Probably my hairs are softers than most of us here on earth. Be gentle with your shavers. Try to understand them as much as you understand your hairs. Do not run them under hot water for too long. Air dry quickly. Do not oil or lubricate them to often. Lubricate lightly. There are other tips too, try to find out.

Faulty Locking Plate
9 August 2017

Bought a RQ12+ replacement head for my excellent SensoTouch 3D RQ 1275 shaver. The quality of this head with respect to design and workmanship was no where near as good as the original. One of the orange plastic locking plates with its blades fell out when opening the head for cleaning the day after I received it. I tried to refit it using the tool provided but it would not stay in place securely. The locking plate was clearly faulty. One of the minute locking lugs was either damaged or had been mis-formed in the moulding process. Upon checking reviews on other merchants sites this fault appears to be not uncommon. Fits 9000 series - new and improved design
30 April 2019

Many reviews seemed to suggest that these heads won't work on Series 9000 razors, but that just isn't true. I ignored all of the negative reviews and ordered these, and not only do they fit perfectly but the attachment mechanism has been redesigned. A big improvement over the old method. Note that the part number for the old heads was SH90/62 while the newest version of the heads are SH90/72. Anyway still the best electric razor I have ever owned.Recently I made the mistake of ordering replace heads from Amazon, only to receive fakes that were literally dull. I was shocked someone would make fakes but believe me they were fake. If you want real ones you need to order them directly from Philips. Genuine Norelco Shaving Heads
21 September 2021

After careful inspection of the foil covers, blades and packaging, it does appear to be genuine Philips Norelco. There are a lot of counterfeits out there. The box shows it comes with an orange tool to assist in blade removal, but it was not included or really needed. Remarkably closer shave with new blades and the performance improved after 3 shavings. For the cost ( I did not pay full list), I would definitely replace them yearly. Faster shaving also means fewer charges and longer battery life for your expensive shaver.

Lacking overall performance
27 June 2021

The improvement in retaining the cutting heads into the shaving frame is much appreciated. Just made it quite easy to switch the old heads out for the new heads. I regret not holding on to my old shaving heads though, because I’m finding thetic thoroughness of the initial cut is lacking. It’s almost doubling the time that I need to shave to get as close and thorough a cut as my old heads provided. If it weren’t for the sealed Philips package, I would almost believe that I have a knock off replacement set of shaver heads.

Vibration & poor results compared to original
12 September 2018

SH90/62 cutter heads caused significant vibration with my S9000 razor. Especially when the heads were pushed into the center as when shaving along the jawbones, cheekbones & chin. After shaving for the normal amount of time there was very little hair cut. My year old SH90/52 cutter heads have never vibrated and still cut much better than the SH90/62 replacements. The slots on the SH90/62 cutter heads are not the same as the slots on the SH90/52 heads that they are supposed to replace. The 52s have two small slots 180 degrees across from each other to match the shape of the part they fit into on the S9000 razor. The 62s have three slots: one small one similar to the 52s, and two larger ones that seem to fit nothing on the razor. They offer an insignificant 15% discount on buying another set of cutter heads from their website. I contacted Amazon for a return and refund.

What have they done to my favorite shaver?!
10 November 2021

I have used Norelco rotary shavers for more than forty years, and I have really loved my 9000 series shaver the most. However, the recent replacement blades and heads I've ordered through the Philips Norelco website have been awful. I just put on a complete new head and for the first time in decades I have razor burn on my neck and lip. What have they done to make a great product worse? Reluctantly, I will have to shop for another shaving system.

Whole shaver head falls off 900 series
16 May 2019

After about 18 month's use the entire shaver head now falls off the motor unit several times during a shave. This has got worse and the whole unit is now practically useless. It appears to be poor design in that the locating spigot is made of plastic which appears to have worn to the extent the head is no longer properly retained in the body/motor unit. I have searched but there appears to be no replacement part for this. The problem appears to be with the head not the motor unit because the trimmer fits in the main body securely and works OK. I have had many Phillips shavers in the past, this was by far the most expensive and has not even lasted two years for the blades to be replaced. Dreadful industrial design for a product of this price.
