Got this kayak last summer! We’ve taken it out around 8x I love it! The only downfall is when hitting big waves the scupper hole under the seat will dampen your butt. I solved it by putting one of my plastic tackle boxes over it although I could just get a plug. I love that it has the built in rod holders and that it sits as high as it does makes the waves not seem as intense! Highly recommend! The weight is definitely a plus as well!

Great kayak, no need to spend $1000 on a fishing kayak.This kayak offers great stability . I also like the open deck design. No unusable compartments in the way of standing up. It has one bow hatch which is plenty. I stow all of my gear in the aft part of the kayak anyway. You won’t be disappointed.

I love this kayak. I bought it a week ago and have already spent about 15 hours fishing from it. It's light enough for me to load up by myself and get to the water. There is a high and low position for the seat and plenty of storage and leg room to be comfortable for several hours of fishing. I didn't use scupper plugs and I weigh 195lbs and had hardly any water come up. There were a lot of large wake boats on the lake that day too. Stability is awesome. It is definitely not built for speed and doesn't track the best but that is not why I bought this kayak. Overall I am having a hard time finding much to complain about with this kayak.

At 65 years old and seven hip surgeries, I wanted something more comfortable for long hours of fishing without my back aching after an hour. The seat in the high position is awesome and I loved being out on this kayak! Combined with the longer paddle I bought with the kayak, it works great... It also lends itself to customizing very easily, so I added a hatch in the back so I have a second compartment for stowing more stuff. On each side of the seat there is enough space to put large Plano fishing boxes that are easily accessible right beside you, which leaves the space under the seat for even more boxes, sunscreen, etc... At my age, its a bit heavy for me to drag longer distances to the water, so I made a cart for it for under $45; but most of the places I wanted it for have ramps so its easy to back right up to the water for loading and unloading. Would highly recommend you try this kayak out if you want an affordable, well built kayak for fishing, and I DEFINITELY recommend dealing with the West Marine store in Bensalem, PA!.....and Chris, thanks again for all your help in getting this kayak!!
I've owned this kayak for two months now. Love it for lake fishing. It's wide and very stable. It has a double hull which adds stability but makes it a little slower. Not a lot slower, but you do notice it. It's 10' long, I put it in my Tacoma truck with the tailgate up, tie it in and take off. You really can stand up on this kayak. I don't recommend it, but you can do it. The seat is simply awesome, super comfortable. You can set the seat high for calm water and max comfort, or in 2 seconds shift to low setting for more stability in swift water in streams, if desired. I haven't found the front access hatch to be of any real use, the hatch is small and anything you drop in there will migrate away from the entrance and be lost in the kayak interior. I took this kayak on a camping/fishing float on an Ozark stream with some swifter water. I weigh 195 pounds and loaded another 105 pounds of gear, 40% in front of the footpegs, 60% behind the seat. I had right at 300 pounds loaded, total. Very stable, more stable than the same gear in a canoe. The water was not quite to the top of the scuppers, I stayed dry. I would be comfortable loading 25 more pounds of gear for this same river. At 350# of total gear I expect you'd start seeing a little bit of water running out of the scupper holes. I really like this kayak and would definitely buy it again.
Horrible kayak. Impossible to fish out of. Doesn't track straight for any measurable distance. Constantly trying to keep straight. Poorly rated as far as weight capacity. My gear stays submerged in water. I weight myself and gear and was 67lbs under the 350lbs rating. Just garage. If you're looking for a good fishing kayak... this one is definitely not it.Flimsy and unstable. Poor quality.O and the best part of all. I found out I'm stuck with it. Academy doesn't tell you this but they don't take returns on Kayaks???
I purchase this 6 years ago to replace a sit-down-in kayak from another vendor. I’m arthritic and couldn’t stay out long on the sit-in kayak but with this sit-on-top model I can stay out fishing and relaxing for hours. It’s such a joy to have. It’s more stable and has ample dry room for all of my gear. I love reclining on the seat it’s sooo relaxing. For the money it’s a great kayak! I own the Catch 120 but am also purchasing the Catch 100 for my wife. We use our kayaks on the river and electric motor lakes. The only things I wish could change is the tracking and the foot pedal rest adjustments. You have to shore the kayak adjust.
Affordable yet doesn’t skimp on quality. Plenty of places to hook a ratchet strap. Comfortable seat. Wide. I bought this for my husband but have used it twice myself. I have an older model with the regular thin seat and it has lasted thru many bumps low river water levels. I wish there were more color options because I want this new model for myself.
I'm 6ft tall and just over 260lbs. The kayak is very nice quality and nothing really wrong with it. But, I bought it because it said it was good for up to 350lbs and it said you could stand up while casting and reeling in your fishing line. First, I could not row safely without tipping over because of being top heavy. I did figure out the seat could be positioned lower, but even lowering the seat I had to be to careful rowing to not tip over easily. Also this makes it very hard to think I could stand up in the kayak. I didn't even try it was so shaky moving side to side trying to row. Like I said the kayak is nice quality but I think it's not really made for a bigger man.
