A helmet holder, a loop for an ice axe, various front pockets including a top pocket with a keyring, two stretch pockets on the sides for water bottles and two zipped pockets on the hip belt. Keep in mind, AirSpeed pushes the pack about 1-2 inches away from your body to create the cushion.Durability: I have thrown this bag around for nearly every day of the last 3 years and while is shows signs of love, nothing has ever broken on it. Straps are all intact, plastic fasteners are all 100%, zippers work as new, outter shell has zero holes or rips. I have dragged this bag in dirt and on much more abrasive concrete numerous times. The amount of wind whip my poor pack has suffered while on my motorcycle is immense and yet despite daily rides not a single strap, pocket, or piece of cloth is frayed.Would I recommend this bag? Yes without question, I do this routinely when people see me with it.Would I buy this bag again? Yes, but I won't have to because it's a tank that will last forever.

It is also heavier than talon 22 too.For one-day hiking, stratos 24 is the one I like, however, it is pricier than both hikelite and talon. So, if the weather is not too hot talon 22 is also a good option; if you don't carry much, hikelite 18/26 is a viable solution too.

This is an excellent day pack, or a day pack compliment to a larger pack for a second person and multi-day backpacking (we have a 75 liter and this for our backpacking trips). Very fast to adjust between 2ppl with different back lengths. Perfect functioning and just an awesome piece of equipment, absolutely love it. Osprey does however need to revise their chest strap, the slide portion which connects to the pack pulls out too easily from its rails and is very difficult to get back in, happens on all my Osprey mtb packs also. Would appreciate if this pack came out of the gates with a hydration bladder, but no problem to add, has a slot built in for adding one (just remember to get the magnetic holder attachment for the chest strap separately) .....

Disappointed in the layout
20 June 2023

Took this on a trip to Zion and Bryce. We did some long day hikes where we needed enough food and water for the whole day and clothes for changes in temps from morning to night plus a first aid kit for 4 people. The negatives: With a 3L water bladder in it, much of the 24 L space was compressed as the long pocket is narrow (front to back) to begin with. Getting out my puffy from the bottom of the pocket was tough with the water full. The top pocket was useless as it is directly over the water bladder. Mine has a stiff backing, so it is not compress down as it emptied and thus the pocket was never useful. It also has a very tall frame, which carries weight well, but makes it harder to stow under a seat on a plane. It had to go in the overhead. It also has a very tall frame, which carries weight well, but makes it harder to stow under a seat on a plane. It had to go in the overhead. It is very tall on your back like a backpack and does not ride low like a day pack. Keep this in mind for hats that come down in the back. The Positives: It was very comfortable. No issues with weight. The hard frame carried all the weight I could fit in it easily. Because the bag fits close to the back, you do not feel the weight pulling backwards, but the limitations of this were noted above. The pack breathes well with a mesh and air space between your body and the pack. The belt pockets were big enough for small snacks and the side pocked each held full size Nalgenes. The pack cover is built in and takes a whole bottom pocket. As prime real estate, I removed the cover and used the pocket for my booboo kit reducing the size of my group first aid kit I had in the pack.Overall This is a good, not great day pack. I felt the shape and layout did not offer more room than a 20L. While my pack was fairly full, my wife carried a talon 18 and the only thing I carried in my bag that she didnt was the first aid and 2 extra nalgenes in the outside pockets.I have mixed feels saying whether I would recommend this or not. With no bladder and 2 Nalgenes in the pockets, this may work great, but you are paying for the option to carry a bladder. It may be that a 2L bladder would work much better. You just need to understand how you will set it up.

I would not spend my money on this pack if I were buying something new. The only reason I have is because they had to send me a whole new backpack to replace my broken down older stratos24L which was generally much better than this new version. The shoulder straps and the airspeed airflow in the back is great for saying cool and dry. But pretty much everything else is a letdown. The chest strap will slide off of its rail if you're not careful; and it is a pain in the but to put back on.The hip pockets, although good in size, are functionally obsolete. You cannot open and close them with one hand while wearing the pack which becomes very annoying, very quickly. There are no spots on the outside of the pack for attaching things. But for some reason they thought it was a good idea to make two separate and different type spots to hold trekking poles, and a fishing pole? Idk. Theres no good info that comes with the pack explaining what these new additions are for. I use the one side for a fishing pole but the other I will never use and it's just an annoyance. It would be nice if there was some cargo netting on the outside so I can put a sweatshirt or something there. The sunglass pouche is just ridiculously too big for sunglasses and two small to be very functional for anything else. For a $200 backpack I think this could be designed better. The quality of the material itself is great. I don't hate the backpack but I don't love it either. Versus the old one I sent in to get fixed, which was great and I loved it.

Exactly what I expected!

I first saw someone using this pack on my Everest Basecamp hike. It was used as a day pack because we had porters carrying our load. It seemed comfortable and has good capacity for the intended use. My current use is as a day pack for hiking to mountains near L.A area. Before getting Stratos 24, I first checked out Stratos 36. It turned out to be a larger pack which is actually closer to a 58L lightweight pack I already have, so I return it and got the Stratos 24. It is exactly the right size for my day hikes. I can put a 2L water bladder in it, plus food and extra clothing all in it and it still feeled comfortable to carry all day. I especially like the quick release hiking pole straps which I can put away or get the poles without removing the pack from my back. I saw some reviews about the Cons of this pack, so I'll mention below. (1) Yes, the opening to get the tube of the water bladder in/out of the pack is a little difficult to access. It takes a little wiggling to get it through, but we really only access it before or after the hike, so it's really no big deal. I examine the opening closely and think it can really be a more straight through slit without any concern of water getting into the pack. It is well covered already. (2) The pack lacks an outer "pouch" where you can quickly strap a jacket to the outside of the pack for access. Yes, I get that, but I don't have issue of using the inner bag for such storage during my hikes so far, and the inner bag keeps things clean anyway. (3) Water bladder is not included (compare to the Manta model). Well, I have more than one water bladder around over the years, so I don't miss that. (4) The outer compartment with vertical zipper is too small. This really depends how you load the pack and what you plan to put in that bag. I always keep my snacks/food in that compartment, and I load it first so I don't camp everything inside first and then feel it's too tight to use that compartment. Overall, I'm happy!

My favorite pack so far!
17 July 2024

Purchased in July 2024 and took it out a few days later to do the Mt. Cabot loop in NH on a warm, muggy, cloudy, wet day. The pack was just awesome. Excellent day pack (or warm-weather overnighter) with plenty of room for water, extra clothing and external gear attachment points. My favorite features of the day were the outstanding ventilation between the pack and your back, and the integrated rain cover. Plenty of sufficient shoulder strap, height, and waist adjustments to be comfortable.

Nice but weird fit

It’s a very nice backpack.Lots of adjustable straps, but due to the back frame, the adjustability is limited. If you’re really tall, it’d fit fine (by tall I would think at least 5’10” - it fit my husband just fine)I’m 5’3” and no matter how much pulling we did, that back frame made the fit impossible.Too bad because it’s super well built and has lots of amazing features and it’s of great quality.

Perfect balance for a daypack
16 April 2023

I bought this as an upgrade and expansion from my Talon 11, which I love, for some longer adventures I have planned. I’m not a minimalist, ultralight hiker, but I like a bag that holds just enough. The suspension and frame of this pack keeps the load well distributed, and even over-packed with 2.5 liters of water in it, I never felt like this was heavy. The pockets are well thought out, and absolutely bombproof. Haven’t had to use the rain cover but it’s great to have on call.Only quibble is the pockets one the hip belt are a bit hard to zip close, but that’s such a minor issue it’s barely worth mentioning. As someone who’s been hiking for 30+ years, this is a really great addition to the gear roster.

I was tired of lugging my gym bag by hand through airports. I bought this backpack to replace the gym back as my carry on baggage. I really like the size of this backpack because my plan is to slide it under the seat in front of me during flights. There are cheaper backpacks, but I wanted something well made for the long run. It is well constructed and thought out. I hope to get many year's use out of this quality backpack.
