Oribe Serene Scalp Oil Control Dry Shampoo Powder

I have been a long time user of Dry Shampoo. My hair gets greasy overnight and I take afternoon yoga classes. I’ve used Oribe’s Gold Lust dry shampoo for years, I like it a lot, especially for casual weekend hair. My favorite dry shampoo types have always been powder. I used bumble and bumble’s for years and tried others. So I was thrilled to try Oribe’s new powder and it works amazing. I love the lavender scent. It doesn’t over power, but it smells so fresh. I also love the container. It’s small and easy to travel with the small hole sprinkles the powder exactly where I need it. Since it’s powder, it works super quick on my greasy and sweaty hair. The price is also slightly cheaper than Oribe’s spray dry shampoo and based on how little I use of the powder to get a wonderful effect, I think it’s going to last me a while. So I do recommend this product.

I have only ever tried the spray-on dry shampoos in the past, so I knew that this would be an interesting experience. Right away, I felt like they should have provided some sort of tool to make applying this powder easier. There is literally a teeny-tiny hole in the top of the container and the directions say that you are supposed to apply this product directly to your scalp. There is nothing provided to make this any easier for you, so most likely, you are either going to get too little or too much out of the container. You will not be let down if you like hair products that smell like perfume. As for the performance of this product, I honestly don't think that my hair felt as clean, fresh, or voluminous as it did when using other dry shampoos. It smelled nice, but it still felt flat, lifeless, and dirty. My scalp still felt very itchy and irritated as well. I probably would have been better off using a different dry shampoo or just going through the full routine of washing my hair. Overall, I have a very positive opinion of the Oribe brand itself and I know that they make quality, high-end products. However, it's just unfortunate that this is one of those rare times that I was not completely wow'ed and satisfied with their product. That doesn't mean that I won't try something else by their brand again and it also doesn't mean that this product won't work for you. It could be your holy grail! You never know. I have very very fine, long, color treated hair. I normally have to shampoo every single day because by day 2 my roots are super oily. This took less than 30 seconds for it to "disappear" and my hair looks quite noticably better, cleaner, and has a lot more volume at the roots. I love the scent. It's very subtle but smells lovely and doesn't have that typical dry shampoo smell. The best thing about this is that it doesn't leave a white cast at all on my dark purple hair. My normal method is to use dry shampoo at night before bed instead of in the mornings, because most of the ones I've tried in the past have left too much white residue. But this one I can use either way! It is so fast and so clean with no white cast. It also doesn't cause my scalp to itch or feel like there's any product build up, which has been an issue for me with several other brands I've tried. This Oribe is my new holy grail. According to Sephora, this retails for $46 USD for 45g of product. For me, this is well worth the cost because it will extend my bright hair color and works so much better than anything I've tried before. Ultimately this dry shampoo powder just isn’t for me. Although the packaging and scent are beautiful, I found the mattifying results to be a bit undesirable. After applying the powder to my scalp and massaging it in, my brunette hair color became rather dull looking. Although I felt like it did a decent job absorbing excess oil, the white powder ultimately reduced the rich, shiny pigment that I love about my dark brown hair. Overall it’s a great dry shampoo powder for those with oilier scalps. However, the only problem I found difficult was applying an evenly distributed amount when shaking the powder out and getting an excessive amount.

I got this as a sample offer when you spend $25 or something a while back and even though the sample was small and I use it ALL THE TIME, there is still a good amount left in her!!! So I think this full size would last quite a while. I typically use aerosol dry shampoo and I HATE THEM. So naturally, I was excited to try something new. It took a few tries to get used to and to keep from getting the powder on my shirt and forehead (lol) but honestly, this stuff rules. I have a middle part and touch my hair a ton, so my front bits get greasy real quick, plus I only wash my hair about once a week unless I’m doing something like hiking or something where my hair gets particularly gross. For those reasons, this little wonder is amazing.
