Single dad in trouble here! My son is very particular about crunchy tacos, and I best not forget the El Paso taco seasoning mix. I’ve done that and his response was correct. “These tacos are boring.†Have to agree, and much better with this mix, along with some hot sauce and cheese. One of these packets is 75 cents to a $1.25. It’s a cinch to use too. All you do is, as the meat is browning being cooked, is to add this on top. A half cup of water, stor this in to get it in evenly. Voila now the meat has flavor. Your tacos will be saved from mediocrity! Also your kid or kids will be much more happy. You can get this at any grocery store, and it does make quite the difference. We had tacos last night, and these improved the flavor considerably.

Read the labels. This seasoning contains bioengineered ingredients, in other words fake food. I have been a lifetime consumer of Old El Paso products, It has been a staple in my household for more than half a century since I was just a kid. Just today I realized that it has bio engineered ingredients and so it went in the trash. I have also posted on social media about this poison in your product. Please, our country is battling sickness and death due to fake everything. I’m asking you to consider going back to real products and real food. Until then my family and I will not be using your products, even if that means forever. As a lifetime former consumer of yours, I thought it was fair that you should know. Let’s get real. Susan

I've been using this mix for my family as long as I can remember, but no more. The manufacturer can deny all they want, but their recipe HAS changed. Grandkids won't eat the tacos or enchiladas I make with this any more. All my family members who cook agree and now use Taco Bell. You will lose a huge customer baseYour new "original" recipe is soooo salty and the flavor is just not there anymore.....I'm sure due to cutting corners. Taco Bell is my go-to seasoning now. IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT! Very sad.....

I've tried a lot of the other major brands of powdered packets and prefer Old El Paso for taste, consistency and ease of use. I buy these packets all the time, mostly for homemade Taco Tuesdays. I sprinkle one packet directly over 1 lbs of ground beef with about 1/4 of diced onion in a skillet. There's usually enough oils from the meat that I don't even need to add water, thorough mixing will dissolve all the powder evenly. Otherwise I'll sometimes whisk the packet with about 1/4 cup of cold water, can even be chunky as the powder will dissolve over heat once you add it to your protein. Soo good. Mild is great for a base since I don't handle spice like I used to in my younger years, can always add cayenne for your preferred spice level. I made some tacos and used Old El Paso taco seasoning. I, along with my mother could not find instructions on the package. On the back was some recipe using pineapple as an ingredient. It wasn't until "after" preparing the ground beef, draining and adding the taco seasoning and eating the tacos that I discovered a problem. The flavor was way too spicy. I got on line to see what the issue was and discovered I was supposed to add 2/3 cup water, bring to a boil and then simmer until it thickens.
Old El Paso Taco Seasoning has consistently been a staple in my kitchen, and I was thrilled to discover their version with 25% less sodium. As someone who's mindful of my salt intake, this option is a game-changer. But what truly stands out is that there's no compromise on flavor. It boasts the same rich and zesty taste that we all know and love from the original. Whether I'm whipping up a quick weeknight dinner or hosting a taco night for friends, this seasoning always elevates my dishes. It’s a testament to Old El Paso's dedication to health without sacrificing flavor. If you're seeking that authentic taco taste but want to keep things a tad healthier, this is your go-to seasoning.I highly recommend it!
It’s actually really nice packaging and it has just the right amount of taco seasoning in each pack. It’s great for lots of different things besides just tacos. I actually used it for a meatloaf just for something different and it turned out delicious. Definitely going to make another one. The seasoning is perfectly made with just the right amount of flavor. Definitely very very good and I guarantee your whole family will enjoy it every time.
Flavor and color not the same. I used to remark that old El Paso had the same great flavor and never changed. Have been enjoying for 50 years, but will not repurchase now. The seasoning changed and the taco shells burn in an instant in the toaster oven. First time in my life I didn’t enjoy taco night. My hubby was looking forward to the tacos, he’s going to hate them now. Even if you change back, how would you get the word out to your lost customers? Tastes like salt and red chili powder. No flavor at all. A real loss.
I got both the original and the 25% Low Salt. Both easy to use & taste good; not spicy hot. The low salt one still tasted a bit too salty~guess thought it would be Alot less salty even though 25% less. The only thing I would recommend is to change the directions: mix the package with warm water in a bowl or glass until it's dissolved Before add the meat~less chance of getting lumps and less chance of clumps forming on the side or bottom of the frypan.I would recommend this to others; infact already have to 3 couples!
i ordered these to make taco dip and I add it in by tasting and checking.. unfortunately it took 2 packets to realize how horrible it was. It did not taste or smell like taco seasoning. i thought mild meant not spicy, not mild favor.. it smelled and tasted like seasoning salt. im not sure if i got a bad batch or this is how its supposed to taste. thought i was going crazy til i found a taco bell taco seasoning packet and it smelled and tasted the way it should. but i couldnt salvage it, it was chalky and salty and had to throw the whole dip out and start from scratch!
