When bought on sale($6.99) this is an unbeatable product.Xylitol does not cause inflammation and promotes a good mouth environment. These two things alone make it better than sugar by far.I just made some banana bread using it. An easy sugar substitute in everything you use sugar for.

I and my friends have found xylitol to help with preventing colds/flu when gargled, or added to nasal rinse. I have used solutions of it to cure pinkeye. It is effective to calm/prevent canker sores and mouth sores. I have successfully used it to speed healing of deep gardening puncture wounds, and to draw out infection (the green pus) of infected rose thorns embedded in my fingers. There are numerous studies that show it to be anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-cavity, ...plus it can be used as a low calorie sweetener if you gradually augment the amount. Very thankful for this product.

I use it in my blueberry bran muffins. No strange aftertaste, blends in well. I measure it the same as cane sugar by weight or measuring cup. Equal sweetness.I’ve tried sprinkling it on fresh strawberries, seems like my taste buds don’t register the sweet. I have not tried in hot drinks.

We are a diabetic household. I do not use sugar for anything. We like the sweetness and don't taste the xylitol. Also good for teeth and gut.
I have started using Xylitol daily for its health benefits: stronger teeth and gums, remineralizing of teeth and bones. What it does for teeth is true. I have seen a significant improvement. I have come to love the taste. It has a lively flavor and no calories! This is a win-win-win situation! The price here at Netrition is the best.
I know Xylitol is a great substitute for sugar. My one star rating is conditional only because as a dog owner I cannot have it in my home. It's highly toxic to dogs. A very small amount ingested can be lethal to dogs. Don't take my word for it, check it out for yourselves. I wanted to write this only as a caution. It's a good product and for those who do not have dogs as a part of their household, no problem. I suppose NOW and Netrition are not obliged to note this potential hazard but I wish they would. If nothing else it would be a great "Good Will" gesture. Netrition has a wonderful selection and variety of sweeteners. I use several of them regularly. I recently discovered this item. I was given a recipe to make my own sweetener by blending 1 cup Erythritol, 1/4 cup Xylitol and 1/4 tsp stevia. There is no after taste, I use it in my coffee, baking, everything.....I love sweet and this did it for me. I have been ordering and using this product from netrition.com for 2-3 years now and the quality and service both have been great. Thank you!!
So, I don't often review products but truly have to share my joy over discovering this NOW xylitol. I just cannot drink my coffee plain. I need sugar, just a teaspoon and a spot of cream! I am a health coach who always looks for quality items that are not harmful to the body and actually taste good with minimal side effects. Xylitol has a low GI (glycemic index) so it won't spike blood sugar. This tastes JUST LIKE SUGAR!!! If you have never had or used xylitol, please read up on it as it may not be for you (can cause loose stool), this usually subsides over time. Xylitol is a natural non-processed sugar so there are no artificial ingredients. I like this brand and the cost is better here at Netrition. **please note...it is TOXIC to dogs** Do not let this deter you ... MoreSo, I don't often review products but truly have to share my joy over discovering this NOW xylitol. While I really like the product, I was very disappointed with the misleading advertisement of this product. It showed a picture of a 2 kg bag, but was only 454 grams. Unfortunately I went by the picture, and bought it. I’ll be much more careful on this site in the future.
This is an excellent product overall. Xylitol tastes much more like sugar than other sugar-free sweeteners I've used. There's also no bitterness or weird aftertaste. Just a few comments: 1) This is not a zero-carb product. While xylitol probably won't raise your blood sugar very much, large quantities of this sweetener aren't that compatible with a low-carbohydrate diet, either. If you want something "guilt free," go with a zero-carb liquid sweetener. In moderation, though, this shouldn't ruin your diet. 2) Some people complain of GI distress. That's never happened to me, but I don't eat that much at any sitting. 3) Maybe I've just gone without sugar for a long time, but xylitol is very sweet. I usually have to use half the amount of xylitol that the recipe calls ... MoreThis is an excellent product overall. Xylitol tastes much more like sugar than other sugar-free sweeteners I've used. I usually have to use half the amount of xylitol that the recipe calls for, otherwise the result turns out so sickeningly sweet that I can't eat it. 4) Xylitol has a strange effect on my baked goods and other dessert items. I bake with almond and coconut flours and I make ice cream at home. Let's start with the ice cream - the ice cream doesn't freeze completely when I use xylitol. I used less this last time because I was running out and the ice cream is as hard as a rock now. The other times, it'd freeze, but as soon I as took it out, it'd start to get a little on the soupy side. As for baked items, I found that my almond flour crusts weren't hardening up. They were quite mushy. I am not sure why this is happening, but just a word of caution that its effect can be somewhat unpredictable. 5) This is crystallized, not powdered, so it doesn't incorporate quite as well as would liquid or powdered. It's not a huge issue - I just stir as I am pouring batter so that the xylitol mixes in well - but you can grind the xylitol at home if you would prefer a different texture.
