As further investigation of this slippery elm, I conclude that there is 2 types of slipper elm. So what is the difference??This:- Brown/Dark color Elm- Water-Miso Soup (When addes water)- Extract- BitterOther:-Whiter/lighter-Gel Like (Mixed with water)-Not an extract but grinded-Maple Syrup Taste (People say)As far as quality, and concerns, this one is not the authenic slippery elm which gels.I do no know why they do not mention it but yes, this is slippery elm that is an extract which wont gel up like pudding.

This was always a savior product for my sensitive stomach, whether it was for gas, constipation or pain. It really soothes the GI tract. I recommend you stay upright and not lie down after taking it as it gives me a higher heartbeat if I lie down right after taking it. I also find it disrupts my sleep, so I take it earlier in the evening, but away from all other medications, leaving an hour before or after medicines. I take it like a tea with boiling water in a cup with stirring vigorously. Thanks iHerb for continuing to stock this!
I recently had a diverticulitis flareup for the first time. My stomach pain went away after I went on a liquid diet and took antibiotics. I unfortunately had a bloated stomach for several months. I tried all sorts of things to no avail until I finally discovered the Rachel’s Tea website. I ordered the Digestive Tea and drank it every morning and night. I also followed their Food Combination Diet. My stomach improved after a few weeks and I thought I was good to go. Unfortunately, my bloated, uncomfortable stomach returned after I ran out of the tea and stopped the diet. I then ordered more tea in addition to several of their other products because I trust their recommendations and really appreciate their very personal, caring customer service. I am a long-time customer of Iherb but have so far not written much reviews. After reading a lot of vague, half-baked, brief, inconclusive, poorly translated reviews, I have decided to step out to give my opinion such that it might benefit other people who have similar symptoms as me. After years of heavy drinking of beer and eating acidic food and being subject to lots of stress at work, one day I suddenly experienced sharp needle-like pains on my left side just below the rib-cage area sometime in 2017. The needle prickly pains became burning pain and gradually spread to the middle point and then to the right side of the rib cage area. Later, I also started to sweat profusely for long periods of time, which affected my sleep. I started to panic if I might have pancreatitis, cancer or liver cirrhosis and decided to seek treatment. After 2 endoscopies and frequent hospital trip with long waiting times and difficult to get appointments, the doctors said I had gastric ulcers / esophagitis caused by Erosive Gastritis. (No H.Pylori) Health care in my country is inconvenient, especially for poor working class folks. Although there is insurance, it takes 3-6 months to get 1 (junior) doctor's appointment at the public hospital. Anyway, my stools started to become black and I was certain this was due to internal bleeding. The pain continued to worsen and radiated to my back. I became worried about Kidney failure too. So after a lot of googling, I purchased alot of gastric supplements from Iherb, amongst them being PepZincGI, Slippery Elm and mastic Gum, DGL licorice (I developed skin allergy to DGL and decided to stop), Grapeseed extract, Oil of Oregano, Probiotics & Monolaurin. Initially, the symptoms did not improve despite taking them for several months according to the directions on the label and I was giving up hope. Then one day, I noticed in my stools, intact capsule shells still containing the powder stuff. It dawned on me that my body wasn't disintegrating the capsules properly to allow the powder to disperse. After this, I switched to dissolving the powder directly into water and drink them 20-30 mins before mealtime. (My regimen - Pepzinc, Mastic gum, Slippery elm & probiotics with capsule shells removed - 3 [later 2] times a day before food, Grapeseed extract, monolaurin, oil of oregano - 2 [later 1] times a day in the morning before food) It has worked for me... After 4 years in agony, the pain lessened. I am now 95% pain-free. At times, when I have lack of sleep or under extreme duress, I would still feel some gnawing pain. Otherwise, the pain is minimal and I can get on with my daily routine! The PepZinc, mastic gum and Slippery elm is supposed to increase mucous secretion which forms a thick coating over the bleeding ulcers, which helps them heal. So.. I hope this helps other people who have so far, been clueless and helpless with their condition. Gastric ulcers take a long time to heal. However, I am not a doctor, so do your own research too.
