This said, the ease with which it completes the overall trim makes switching razors a minor drawback rather than a big one.Functionality:Charging the trimmer was no issue at all. However, I would much prefer if it was possible to charge it via micro usb or at leats via USB, as this would make it much much more travel friendly and allow it to be charged virtually anywhere without the need for carrying additional power cables/accessories.I particularly like that the blades are self sharpening as this saves me a small fortune in the replacement blades that with other shaves need to be bought every few months.Overall, I would recommend this trimmer, but only for those who shave at a much longer stubble length than I do myself. Only a few small quibbles with the product as I have mentioned above however it has still been enough of a success with me that it has found itself being used in my shaving routine.

I needed to replace my Norelco QT4070 vacuum trimmer that had died. I loved that trimmer because of the vacuum but also because of the rotary dial to adjust height. I could not find a suitable replacement (tried four different ones including Norelco) in the vacuum style so I end up compromising with this one (no vacuum but easy adjustability). Overall I'd say it works ok but not great. I do love the ease of the dial; I use three different settings during the trim (face stubble, sideburns, eyebrows) so not having to replace attachments is great. As far as durability, I had only had it a month when I accidentally scooped it up with my laundry and put it through the washing machine. I was soaked and dead when the laundry was done. My previous one had an indicator and you could hear it start to slow down (at which point you knew not to keep going). This one does have an indicator but it doesn't seem to warn you in time. It also didn't slowly stop. When the battery ran out it just completely went from full power to full stop, pulling the hairs rather than cutting them. The battery has only ran out once so we'll have to see if this happens each time or not; maybe I just wasn't paying attention but I don't think so. My biggest problem with the unit is that the blade itself is set back a fair distance from the front of the attachment. This means that even when you move up from your lip to directly under your nose the attachment hits your nose way before the blade does. That leaves the thin strip of hair just below your nose longer than the rest of the moustache area. It takes lots of different angles, shoving the corners up your nostrils, to kind of get it trimmed. Overall, it is a decent trimmer but I really loved the QT4070 and wish that were still available.
The trimmer works well in giving an even trim without pulling hairs. It's easy to clean and there's a wide choice available for setting beard trim length. I can’t comment on battery life, as I’ve only just bought this item. Unfortunately one reason I chose this model is because I'm tired of having to charge so many appliances, and the Philips website said this particular trimmer could be used with a corded use only function (see image). However, this isn't the case, the trimmer won’t work with the cord plugged in, and the instructions do say this, but this contradicts the advertising on the Philips website.

This is a small complaint and one that can be fixed simply by storing the charger itself separately, but the quality of the carrying case could be an easy fix for Norelco in the future.
The device is not faulty, it is simply a design flaw in the provided attachment which doesn’t allow for consistent trimming or the ability to get to hairs directly underneath the nose.I have used Phillips beard trimmers in the past which have curved attachments - these have worked well in the past.This particular beard trimmer has sharp, jagged edges which makes it a design flaw.Therefore I am unsatisfied with the item itself as it’s not made for purpose.
