Theoretically this is a trade-down from my Nikon D7500? It doesn't feel like it - so much easier to use, better pixel count, lighter, and with the same styling as its big brothers. Only had it a week but already really comfortable with the way it handles and the quality of the pictures (although I have used a Nikon camera since my trusty EM) so I suppose I don't have any relevant feedback on other makes - unless you count my Olympus OM-10)...oh, and I have kept my extensive range of AF lenses (for the moment), as I bought an adapter to save a bit of cash in the short term.Yes, there are much better cameras in the Z range, and I suppose I could have forked out another 300 beer tokens or so for the Z6, but my skill-set is firmly in the amateur range, so this will do ... MoreTheoretically this is a trade-down from my Nikon D7500? Well, the truth is that the impression has been very good. First of all, the arrival was earlier than expected. When the box arrived the surprise was very good. I didn't expect it to come with its original packaging, and everything was completely sealed as if it came from the factory. The exterior appearance of the camera, lens and accessories is new. The first thing I did was take a photo to check the shutters. Only 1900 seals, it is completely new...I was impressed. And all with a 30-month guarantee and the possibility of a 30-day return if you are not satisfied, which offers peace of mind that buying from an individual in any second-hand app does not provide. This is my first mirrorless camera. So far, I am very impress with this camera. Love the eye auto focus system. This camera has many features that a DSLR camera doesn't have. Great camera for portraits and Lanscape. I love the LCD screen. I also like when you look into the view finder and then look at LCD screen. It's program to do it for you. This camera is great for portraits and subject tracking. Not as fast as the other mirrorless Nikon cameras with 4.5 frames. Thats enough for me as a portrait photographer. If you want to get into mirrorless this camera is a start and budget camera. If Nikon come out with a Nikon z5ii. I will purchase it. Hopefully it will be 7-10 frames per second I would purchase. Add nothing else. Excellent built camera. Love the FTZii ... MoreThis is my first mirrorless camera. So far, I am very impress with this camera. Love the eye auto focus system. Neat entry level mirrorless. Feature packed. For me using my old pre-Ai Nikon lenses with the FTZ adapter is as a delight. The 35mm and 105mm Nikon lenses produced stunning images and are a good weight and size balance to the Z5 body. Aided focusing, Active D Lighting and HDR can all contribute to the quality of image on older manual lens with minimal post-processing. I opted for the 24-50mm kit lens bundle which makes it a lovely walkabout camera. Unlike some higher end cameras the Z5 has an Auto setting for fuss free point and shoot when required. In the hand the Z5 has a nice weight, balance and grip for anything but a telephoto or zoom lens. I use a simple small cross body camera bag and wrist strap. The perfect travel camera !
4 October 2023

Having booked a last minute trip to Skiathos in Greece I wanted to take just one camera, one lens so I purchased the Nikon Z5 to accompany my Nikon 50 mm 1.8s . I already own the Nikon Z6/7 mk2 bodies and found the Z5 to be perfect in both handling and build quality . To be really honest from the first time I picked it up and shot my first frame I knew this camera was the right choice . My only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner . Hiking all day and grabbing shots along the way was just joyful with this camera and lens combo . The AF and metering were so accurate and the white balance was always spot on . I only charged my battery twice the whole week and managed to get handheld shots at sunset and in low light that were pin sharp ! The Raw files and jpegs it produces are beautiful and colour reproduction very accurate. I'm actually blown away by this camera and will purchase two more to join my Nikon 20 mm snd 85 mm primes so I don't have to swap lenses as I just love my Z primes . This camera deserves a score of Ten for its build / price/ reliability/ and will accompany me on many adventures for years to come

Have been a Nikon user for over 20 years, but always cropped sensor until now. Upgraded to full frame, and mirror less, because of functions that are not available on the dslrs. Technology advances. Have only had the camera for one week, so still a bit of learning, but the biggest difference I have noticed is the quality of the file in camera. The exposure meter is perfect, while the D7200 needed to be adjusted to a slight overexposure. The dynamic range is significantly better. I find that post processing is a much simpler process now, only very slight adjustments to the out of camera files.Would highly recommend this package

[Rewarded Review] Awesome comeback
15 December 2023

I have used nikons DX and FX using Pro Lenses for many years, then started to use the smaller Sony APCs and Lumix MFT. My Sony probably have the longest usage by years. Then I started shooting HS Marching Band and I needed those high speed lenses again. I went purchased the Z5 and wow, I am super happy with all the shots. So I decided to get the z7ii to pair with the Z5. Now I get to use my Pro Glass with adapter.ONE BIG DOWNSIDE: few available Z lens line up from Nikon. Even 3rd party lens only makes lens for Sony. I hope that it is not too late for Nikon to make a comeback.

[Rewarded Review] Great camera for the money
16 November 2023

I bought this camera to get into the mirrorless market. I shoot Nikon and have several DSLR's. A Nikon D810 being my primary one and the one that I will compare the Z5 to. I chose to go with the Nikon Z5 and the adaptor ring to start out. I wanted to see how the camera worked with all my DSLR lenses. In the attached images you can see that the adaptor ring does extend the lens, but nothing that makes it unusable. The images all came out pretty good. I was able to crop into the images for better shots. It's not as good as my other DSLR's in image quality, but for the money this is well worth it. I also played around with the video recording on this camera. It performs way better than any of my DSLR's for video recording. So that is a plus. I was worried about the battery life since that is a downside to mirrorless. I was surprised that it actually wasn't terrible. I took over 200 shots at two different locations and the battery never died. I haven't taken this out on a full day's excursion but I bought extra batteries for that. And according to Nikon the batteries only take 1.5 hours to charge.- I like that I can use all my current lenses via the adaptor ring- I like that this is a full frame camera- I like that the video features are improved- I like the articulating screen- Surprisingly I like the LCD vs the mirror and the ability to instantly see the image state- The battery life is good

I starting using the Nikon z system for over 2 years now and it is because of this camera, I love Nikon's characteristic in producing photos. It produces photos that look like film photos, but with just enough digital design. I appreciate the amazing dynamic range I can work with and the autofocus is fast. Don't be fooled by those who say it could be faster or better because you can't let the camera do all the work and then complain it's too slow. We are blessed in today's digital advancement and we need to remember that the gear is just as good as its user.Back to the review, the f-mount lenses adapted to this camera with the FTZ adapter works wonders! Depending on the time you are reading this, keep a look out on Black Friday (I got my Z5 body with an FTZ adapter for only $999).This is fast auto focusing camera on both video and photo modes. Canon RP is fine for photo, but unreliable for video (MFT cameras like the Lumix g9 is way better...). I've worked with the Canon RP for about a year and Lumix cameras for over 4 years.

[Rewarded Review] Wonderful Camera for Price
9 January 2024

I've got to try out this wonderful small full-frame camera Nikon Z5 for a few weeks while I rented. My background is that I'm a professional photographer who can't decide to go back to Nikon or keep going with Canon to shoot for real estate, architectural, food and restaurant photography. I shoot videos with Fujifilm but I'm needing to have a full-frame camera especially for architectural photography. As most Nikon cameras, I love the colors of Z5 and I can tell that color calibration was almost unnecessary when I paired with my Godox lights like AD400 Pro. I find Nikon's colors even more truthful than Canon in my biased opinion, as many points out that Canon boosts magenta and red a little too much for food.Only one thing I didn't like about this camera was that I ... MoreI've got to try out this wonderful small full-frame camera Nikon Z5 for a few weeks while I rented. I find Nikon's colors even more truthful than Canon in my biased opinion, as many points out that Canon boosts magenta and red a little too much for food.Only one thing I didn't like about this camera was that I could not view my composition on the camera when I am tethering to CamRanger 2. Maybe there is a way to have the camera screen still on for leveling, composing with CamRanger 2 but I could not figured out how to do it. And if that is the limit of Nikon Z5 then it affects my workflow for real estate photography, where I rely on CamRanger 2 all times. But that was the only thing.Perhaps when I purchase a Nikon camera next time, I'll probably go for Nikon Z7 II for higher resolution, but again it's a great camera for the price point. While Canon is not giving us a choice of camera with two card slots for this price range, this is an amazing buy I'd recommend any semi-pro to novice photographers who need two card slots. I think pros can totally use this camera too, although it is not the fastest camera you ever meet.
