I ordered the Netgear Nighthawk AX3000 WiFi Router based off of the good reputation of Netgear products and past experience of using them, and I have to say after about a week I have been very happy with the router. The setup was quick and easy. You will need to download the Nighthawk app, but it honestly makes the whole process seamless. Through the app, you can change the network name and password, monitor speeds, view connected devices, to name a few among many useful things. I have not run into any issues with WiFi connection, and through the router I am seeing the advertised speeds based on my internet plan even without connecting via an Ethernet cable. I play a lot of video games, and have not run into any issues so far. Overall, I cannot recommend the Netgear ... MoreI ordered the Netgear Nighthawk AX3000 WiFi Router based off of the good reputation of Netgear products and past experience of using them, and I have to say after about a week I have been very happy with the router. It’s a great “middle of the road” router that offers great speed that doesn’t hurt the wallet.

Our old Vodafone router wouldn’t deliver speeds, would drop out all the time and have many dead spots around the home, we were hesitant on upgrading due to the cost and overwhelmed by so many options but pulled the pin due to frustration. Netgear did not disappoint, stress free set up, quality app and is delivering speeds promised by our internet provider and no more drop outs/ dead zones! If you’re fed up like we were I highly recommend making the switch. Also, little shout out to AustraliaOnline (internet provider) a small company that is run by Aussies and when you call it’s Aussies on the phone! I live in a shared house with up to 4 other roomates. They actually had an old 802.11ac router running the place which surprised me. I saw this at Walmart and thought the upgrade to AX would be worth it. It not only was but the speed increased from 97mbps to over 360 (5ghz only). I was shocked that the old one was even limiting it at all. Upload and latency has been about the same as before which is still great but reliable. I manage the wifi via the nighthawk app and really love the interface. I also like how there’s a quad core processor in this one. No telling what was in the old lol.Internet has been very stable with no drops. I will say the 5ghz range isn’t as good as I’d hoped hovering at the same range as the older one. I noticed the 2.4 is much slower capped at 100mbps going no higher so I tend to use the 5 despite the worse range. Also with AX wifi you get the multi user stream. Haven’t put that to the test yet but I’m sure it performs much better than before when multiple people use it at once.Using charter’s base 300 plan and no complaints. Super reliable and consistent ping doesn’t go higher than 38-41 at its peak worst. Definitely recommend for general usage in a 3-4 people household.

The router was easy to set up. I immediately turned on AX, OFDMA on both ratios. I tried all three 160MHz-capable channels, 36, 100 and 149. I was amazed to immediately see 2.4Gbps on my WIFI NIC and my entire 500Mbsp internet coming through. My Trendnet AC2600 has peaks of 70MBps (700+Mbps). Those two routers are separate dual 2.4 and 5GHz routers but this is a mighty AX router it should be from 50% to 3-times faster. I was not disappointed. I tried turning off throughput booster and packet coalescing on the NIC wand had great improvement. I have had a minor issue getting WIFI to connect to some devices, primarily a Smart TV, after a bit of tweaking it was simply a matter of having the smart TV forget the original wireless setting and then connecting with the Night ... MoreThe router was easy to set up. The Router functions Via CAT 5E are excellent. Overall the Night Hawk Router offers outstanding speeds and coverage. It is a great router for the price, easy setup for the non professional user, and offers outstanding features for the more advanced users. This Router simply cannot be beat for the price. I highly recommend it both for the novice home user and professionals!
Having trouble with weak wifi signals from cable provider we decided to try Nighthawk Ax4 router with Wifi 6. Lightweight with 3 external antennas with plenty of vents to prevent overheating. Simple setup with help from Nighthawk App which will guide you thru initial setup and troubleshooting. Basically all i did it plug in, connect ethernet cable to cable provider and less than 10 mins it was connected. We finally are getting faster, stable wifi connection thru every room in the house. No worries about security cause with nighthawk app it comes with 1 year subscription Armor protection which will notify you of any threats and will ask you for permission to allow certain sites. From PC's, mobile, ipads have improved signals. Smart connect thru App basically follows you throughout house and automatically adjusts speeds so your never without signal/connection. Best decision
This Netgear Nighthawk AX4 AX3000 Wi-Fi Router with Wi-Fi 6 capability is a decent router. Netgear is a trusted name when it comes to routers and networking. The Nighthawk brand has been around for years now and is associated with powerful signal transmission. Netgear is now providing their customers with a wide range of Nighthawk routers, each providing different levels of signal strength and of bandwidth range. This AX4 AX3000 router says it can handle incoming Wi-Fi speeds of up to 3Gbps, which is more than the majority of consumers need. It has a powerful quad-core processor for faster performance. It is equipped with 4 Gigabyte Ethernet ports on the back to connect via a wired connection. As with most new routers, this AX4 AX3000 Nighthawk is dual band. It is equipped with 4 Gigabyte Ethernet ports on the back to connect via a wired connection. As with most new routers, this AX4 AX3000 Nighthawk is dual band. The 2.4GHz channel can broadcast up to 600Mbps and the 5 GHz channel up to 2.4Gbps. Of course all these specifications are under the perfect environment. I was not impressed with the AX4's ability to reach my downstairs connections. We have a small house with an half finished basement that is nowhere near 2,000 sq. ft. The router signal doesn't have to go through any concrete walls, but we have experienced low signals with every single access point router we have ever tried. Only a "whole home" or mesh router system has been efficient in broadcasting a sufficient signal strength downstairs. That being said, this AX4 should be great for larger single story apartments or medium sized single story homes. But, if you have a large home or a two story apartment or home, this router will likely be insufficient in providing a strong signal to all parts of your dwelling. I will say that I have had some connection issues even with my mesh router system, but I have yet to see this with the Netgear Nighthawk AX4. Most likely this is due Netgear giving their customers the option of deselecting the auto channel feature in the router settings and dedicating a single channel for transmitting both the 2GHz and 5GHz frequencies. I like that option and it is one of the important features I consider when purchasing a router or mesh router system. KUDOS Netgear! Another great perk of Netgear routers is the 1 year of free Netgear Armor router security! This firewall stops intruders at the router and doesn’t allow them to infect your devices! As for the Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, also a feature in most if not all new routers, this makes the AX4 future proof for quite a while. Not many devices are Wi-Fi 6 compatible right now, but more and more will be. Again, not the best router, but not bad either. Sufficient for many setups and capable of high internet speeds. Would recommend for single level dwellings unless they are enormous.
Over the years I have have had many wireless routers, and I must admit that I have always been a little behind the curve when it comes to updating them if they have been operating normally without any issues. For instance I upgraded some devices to ones that were capable of wifi 5 but was still using them with an "N" router until I upgraded to an AC router a couple of years ago. I think that the problem is that if you have a trouble free router, there is a tendency to forget about it. I still do not as of yet, have any wifi 6 devices in my household, but plan on upgrading a few devices over the next two years. I am upgrading my current laptop computer to wifi 6 as soon as the new card gets here in a couple of weeks. I still do not as of yet, have any wifi 6 devices in my household, but plan on upgrading a few devices over the next two years. I am upgrading my current laptop computer to wifi 6 as soon as the new card gets here in a couple of weeks. This is the first NetGear router that I have ever owned, and so far I am very happy with it. The only issues I ran into with it were mainly due to the fact that the only setup option appeared to be using the phone app. I am in my 60's, and don't do much online stuff on my phone because the keyboard on the screen is so small that it is difficult for me to use. As a result, I somehow added a blank space in my network name, and had to change it to the one I usually use. The app would not let me do this without starting over, so I had to go through setup all over again, and still couldn't log on to my devices because my network password was somehow not saved. The only way I could connect was using the WPS button, and I wound up having to sign in to routerlogin.net on my laptop because it was connected before setup, to correct my network information. I'm sure the app is fine for all of those younger folks who use their phones to do everything, but I would have preferred a windows compatible setup program. This is the first router I have ever gotten that had no manual in the box. I was able to download one from the Netgear site. Once again, I had to figure that one out myself. Once the router was up and running everything has been smooth sailing since. The coverage is much better than my old router. There is not a place in my house where the signal isn't strong. The Kindle that I could not connect to in the master bedroom has no issues, and the tv in that rooms' connection is better than it was. I like the way it looks, and it's compact size. I have cable internet in my house and it is supposed to be up to 3g capable, so should have plenty of room for the higher capacity. The real test will come when I have upgraded my laptop to Wifi 6. If the router matches the reputation of the other Netgear products, I will be looking forward to many years of reliable service.
I have had a lot of routers over the years from the basic to satellite, many from NetGear. This review is for the Nighthawk WiFi 6 Router (RAX36S) – 4-Stream Gigabit Router AX3000.The Good:• It includes a year of Armor with Bitdefender. Armor includes malware protection, network scanning for risks, antivirus, and VPN protection for devices attached to the router. I’ve had Armor with past NetGear products and it seems to provide good protection and I had no problems using it.• It’s the latest WiFi 6 (802.11ax) technology which is a more secure platform. It is backward compatible with 802.11n/ac.• It is a dual band, 2.4GHz and 5 GHz.• The app is decent and easy to use.• It has four 1-Gigabit Ethernet LAN Ports which is nice to attach more wired devices.• It ... MoreI have had a lot of routers over the years from the basic to satellite, many from NetGear. It does have decent coverage but it was spottier on my back patio areas of my backyard which is within the 2,000 sf range.• I mainly use my WiFi for streaming movies and video and for video chat/meetings and it worked well for both.Considerations:• You get complimentary technical support for 90 days from the original date of purchase. Not from set up. Any issues outside of this timeframe will cost a fee.• As noted above coverage was spottier with drops on my patio which is within the 2,000 sf coverage area.• I have 1gbps internet speed and the router provides decent speeds. A couple of times, I lost coverage and had to reboot the router but I find that happens with most routers at this level.Overall, it is a good router with decent coverage.
This Netgear router was easy to setup and took minimal time to do so. You can do everything through your phone without a PC to get your WiFi up and running. All I had to do was plug in the power and connect the router to my internet gateway.I went to the Playstore on my Android phone and downloaded the Nighthawk app. After that I connected to the router’s WiFi using the QR code sticker that was on the router. An alternative option is to just manually input the default WiFi info. The setup guided me though securing the router with my own password and SSID. By default the router separated the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz with different SSID’s. It just added 5G to the end of the SSID I entered in. By default the router separated the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz with different SSID’s. It just added 5G to the end of the SSID I entered in. There is an option to have it just use one ID and have your devices intelligently select the best band for your device. I left it to the default as I like to keep things separate from each other. The whole setup only took about 10mins, which was including placement and plugging in the wires. One thing I noticed is that Netgear is offering additional security and parent control options as a subscription. The router already comes with 1 year of Netgear Armor that protect you from all sorts, but seems redundant as most PCs and mobile devices behind the router already have their own security options. By default, this security is turned on and the 365 days begins to tick down. I did find the option within the Nighthawk app to disable the Netgear Armor. I can see the appeal to it and the peace of mind that it offers for those who need it. The app does work outside your home, so you can control all these features and options when you’re away! The other subscription is the parental control option. They offer a 30 day trial, and after that it’s a pay option. It allows you to control internet allowance times, block inappropriate websites, and even block apps. For those who wish not to subscribe into this, there is a option to make profile groups. With these groups, you can pause internet access manually via the app to a selected group without a subscription.Personally I can do without all these extra paid features, but it does offer more options for security that a household could need. I can see some annoyed by the up-sell, but they can be disabled.Overall the Netgear does everything it advertises. I live in a 1500sq ft home and had no issues with range or speed. Connections stayed solid and noticed no disconnects or drops. It would be nice if the router had USB ports to act as network storage, but it’s probably a feature that not that many use, so I can see why it was left out. Great router, easy to use and solid connections!
