Baffle height is body-mapped to create cradling support that keeps you centered on the pad throughout the night. Fabrics are bluesign approved, 100% post-consumer recycled material. Durable polyester ripstop top conforms to the body and offers a great feel. Balancing comfort, weight, and warmth, Quasar is a versatile option for most adventures. Insulated options include a layer of 100% post-consumer recycled PrimaLoft. A veteran favorite of the NEMO sleeping pad collection, Quasar 3D gets its 3D designation from the body-mapped baffling that gently cradles the body and keeps you centered on the pad during the night. A slightly elevated head baffle helps keep your camp pillow in place or can negate the need for one entirely. Packable, durable, and weight-conscious, Quasar is a versatile option for every adventure. In addition to smart performance features, the Quasar 3D design integrates sustainable materials like bluesign approved, 100% post-consumer recycled fabrics and 100% PCR PrimaLoft for the insulated models. The recycled polyester ripstop top conforms to the body for a great feel and sleep experience, while our custom Laylow zero-profile, microadjustable valve easily controls the air pressure for maximum comfort. With all of these benefits, its no surprise that Quasar won REI Co-op's 2023 Editors Choice award!

We did wind up getting a small hole in it (likely due to a cactus from Great Sand Dunes), and that was a bit of a pain to track down, but we were able to patch it and the pad is back to good as new now.The vortex air bag it comes with is great at filling it, and it normally only takes me 8 or 9 breathes to get it fully inflated. It is nice that it is a doable pad for longer treks without having to strap multiple single-person pads together.

I picked this up prior to a 6 day trek through Glacier National Park. I had finally convinced my gf to try some back-country hiking and wanted an upgrade from my Therm-A-Rest single-person mattress. The material and craftsmanship of the pad is substantial. I was never concerned about failure or leakage and I can confidently say that any discomfort during the night was attributed to anything but the mattress. Additionally, with many larger air mattresses there is a tendency for deflation (particularly when temperature change is a factor) causing the occupant(s) to roll into the middle of the mattress which we didn't experience with this pad. Even when cinched down, it took up a third of my pack, although since it was for 2 people I was willing to overlook this challenge. If you are really going for UL or are tight on space, this may not be the pad for you. Something else that may be noteworthy was the noise. Movement of almost any kind on this mattress results in a very audible rubbing noise, like 2 balloons being rubbed together. Whenever either of us would move during the night, the other would wake up from the noise. In fact, the noise was loud enough that one of the other campers in our group mentioned he had to wait for us to "stop wrestling" before he was able to go to sleep. There wasn't even any hanky-panky going on that night! On a later trip where we were camping close to the vehicle and weight wasn't an issue I brought a few blankets and quilts to throw on top and it really helped to muffle the sound, although not really an option if you are backpacking...

Extremely comfortable but inflation subpar
21 May 2022

The inflation system sucks. The valve you connect the airbag to (which you actually have to blow up with your breath) actually pops off the pad with the slightest pressure. And getting it fully inflated involves applying some pressure. So it's an extremely delicate balance to get it beyond 80% inflated. When the valves pops off, there's just a big hole in the pad and the whole thing deflates and you have to start over.Once inflated, the pad itself is five stars. Fortunately, we have this permanently inflated in our semi-primitive cabin, and amazingly, I have not had to re-inflate it for 7 months. It's just as comfortable today as it was the first day I finally got it inflated. And we have slept on it for probably 30 nights during that time.

Feels great, pain to inflate
23 March 2023

It's extremely comfortable, and while it lasts, it keeps its inflation for weeks. However, like the previous double pad we got from Nemo, this one acquired a slow leak after about 18 months (and maybe 50 nights sleeping on it). The Vortex inflation bag is a terrible idea. It's very difficult to inflate past 80% desired firmness without popping the valve off (the valve literally pops out, still attached to the inflation bag). Do not recommend.

Great for backpacking!
23 January 2023

This thing is so much more comfortable than linking 2 pads together while backpacking with your partner. We've had it for 2 years now and it has held up against my large dog, and sometimes are young kids too. It is very well built and durable. It's warm enough for full on winter and alpine camping. This packs down pretty well, but I certainly do not think it is saving any space over bringing 2 single pads. I do not use it car camping though, because a fully size comfort pad is always going to be more comfortable.

Wow we have come a long way from foam sleeping pads for those who want comfort and need to carry light. This is a great sleeping pad. I’m not light, but it holds me well and I don’t bottom out. I love the options for size and insulation. Went with the wide non-insulated. Im bike touring Nova Scotia and so far it’s been a great choice.A few things I’d like: more curvature on the sides for us side sleepers. There’s some but more would be better. And to be very fussy, I’d like to chose what side to inflate it from.

Superb comfort that fits in any pack
30 October 2021

This is hands-down the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve ever owned or laid down on. The 3D contouring of the pad does contribute noticeably to comfort, and is thoughtfully designed. There are slightly larger baffles to lay your head on, while a shallow depression in the torso/hip area keeps you centered on the pad. Towards the foot end the contouring flattens out, presumably to let your feet fall wherever is most comfortable. Included pump sack takes a bit of practice but functions well and is a nice touch. The storage sack for the pad includes a mini repair kit too.So, how’s it sleep? Coming from other pads, I tended to inflate this one pretty firm, and while it was still more comfy than the average pad, it wasn’t the cloud dream I hoped for. Coming from other pads, I tended to inflate this one pretty firm, and while it was still more comfy than the average pad, it wasn’t the cloud dream I hoped for. The magic happens when you use the micro-adjust valve to deflate this thing just a little bit (while you’re laying on it!) until you can feel your whole body sink into it slightly. At that point, prepare for the best night of sleep you’ve ever had on an uneven, rocky patch of ground.A few more notes:-this pad isn’t too noisy! Don’t expect utter silence, but it is significantly quieter than other ultralight air pads I’ve had.-the material is quite soft on your skin, and I’d be happy sleeping on it without a pillow, but this soft material also seems difficult to clean and prone to absorbing things like oils. Over time I’m curious how dirty this top fabric might get; for now I make sure to use a pillow or cover the head baffles with a camping towel.-I purchased the WIDE version of this pad, and I’m glad I did (it’s so roomy!), but note that most “2-person” backpacking tents will NOT accommodate two wide pads. Prepare to feel like terrible sleeping partner when you realize your mat takes up 70% of the tent floor space.
