MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max AM4 ATX Motherboard

Solid motherboard for the price, comes with all the things i needed! 5050 rgb header so it looks nice. but its not about aesthetics. The motherboard is a solid base to any ryzen 1 - 3rd gen processor. It also supports upto really high speeds of ram so its future proofing its self for a while too! and not to mention it doesn't need a motherboard update to work with the 3rd gen ryzens which is a bonus at this price range. Over all its a solid board for the price. and the nice red and black theme suits many builds.

I started a new build of a Ryzen 5 3600 system and realised that many current motherboards dont actually support it natively and required a BIOS update which was very fiddly. Then I found this excellent motherboard which supports the CPU right out of the box. In addition it has the flash bios button which I can use to upgrade BIOS even without an OS.Considering its price, I think its excellent value.The board came safely and neatly packaged in the box. 2 SATA cables supplied along with documentation. Construction and build quality is great. Fit perfectly in my new ATX case.Has plenty of connectors - more than enough for my gaming rig. Ample spacing between components so no concern on air flow/cooling. Also has a Turbo M.2 slot which I'm using for my boot drive and has excellent performance.This was my first RGB motherboard and in general works well with my fans and LED strips. Mystic light software is ok for playing around with the lights although options are rather limited.The BIOS has many options for tweaking - includes gaming mode overclocking (which I haven't tried as its plenty fast for the games I play - along with my DDR4 3200 RAM and Rx580 Graphics card).Overall I'm quite happy with the motherboard and would easily recommend it for its excellent quality and value for money.

Tip for anyone who is going to change their motherboard, you NEED to update bios before running your pc, search on how to flash bios using a USB on youtube. Hope this will save you time on installation.

My Dell Inspiron 5675 gaming pc got fried, this was the first recommendation. - It supports all ryzen series chips. B450 boards should be able to flash bios to support the new Ryzen 5000 series chips about to release. - Build quality is great, heavier than I expected. - Fits my Be Quiet Pure Base 500dx case perfectly. Just remember to put the I/O shield on before the Mobo so you don't have to waste time unscrewing. - BIOS is easy to navigate. I set my RAM to XMP profile 2 (3200mhz). The CPU fans went to full blast, loud as hell. But you go into the BIOS, hardware monitor, and I let the auto smart fan settings do its magic. Shouldn't be an issue for streamers/gamers. - No wifi. It's fine to get your own separate pcie wifi adapter anyway since they'll most likely be better than pre-installed chips on other mobos. I'd prefer that over a usb dongle on my desktop. - No USB type C header on mobo. This makes the front USB-C on my Be Quiet 500dx case useless unless there's an adapter to buy. Overall, one of the best B450 motherboards if you get the Max versions, really similar to the Tomahawk Max. Really nice that they will support the new Ryzen chips in 2021.

A budget "business computer" build for a friend...well-made and no problems so far.

I'm not a gamer, and I don't know anyone who is. I'd rather not buy a gaming board, but if a board meets all my needs, the fact that it's a gaming board isn't a problem. Many times, a budget gaming board gives me the best balance of features, compared to a business kind of board. I'm not stuck to one board brand...I use what I feel is best for that situation, which is why I used this board. I needed a entry-level but solid build as a business computer (and family computer) for a friend. - Ryzen 3 3100 CPU - CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) memory - AMD R7 250 GPU - Rosewill Tyrfing II case - EVGA 110-BQ-0500-K1 500 BQ PSU

Great Mobo

Great Mobo for a great price compared to the Tomahawk which is very hard to find and often overpriced due to low stock right now due to common Covid issues. The bios was very straightforward for me and this was my very first build on my own. I had one issue with installing windows to my system at first but I made the mistake with trying to tinker with the bios right away. Once I realized I had a bad install of windows and I also reset my bios to default, everything worked great. Will update my review if I have any more negatives/positives

Great motherboard works well with first gen, 2nd and 3rd gen ryzen

This is a great motherboard and I've been using it for a few days now without any issues. No matter what, trust the LED lights, if cpu is on and u have a new cpu then first update bios to latest version and if that does not work then try 2nd or 3rd gen ryzen. Dram light is never wrong, if bios update does not fix dram light then change the sticks at least 3-4 times (buy as many as you can afford from Best buy and return the rest once 1 works). Use lower frequency ram if you have to. My rgb 3.2k hz sticks failed until I tried something lower 3000 hz. I was unlucky and got 2 sets of ram that were either DOA or had compatibility issues.

MSi B450 Gaming PLUS Max motherboard - USB problem

The MSI B450 Gaming PLUS Max motherboard spec wise fitted my requirements. I searched the MSI site to find compatible memory and M2 SSD. The hardware installtion went well.Installation of Windows 10 Pro was occasionally intereupted by the loss of keyboard and/or mouse. When I started to use the new PC in anger I reoeatedly lost the kayboard and/or mouse.After carefully experimenting with alternative keyboard and mouse I concluded that the problem with the USB ports on the MSI motherboard. This was confirmed by comments on the web. I eventially overcame the problem by installing a PCI-e USB board.If the memory and M2 ssd I had bought were compatible I would have return the motherboard as faulty and erplaced it with a Ausu or Gygabyte.

Review of GAMING PLUS MAX AMD B450 AM4 Motherboard

Good Points: Great motherboard. Lots of fan headers. Flash bios button if needed. My Ryzen5 3600 worked straight out of the box. Compatible with a wide range of memory (check msi website for list). Steel reinforced graphics card slot in case you want to install one that's as big as a house :) Easy use bios. Just press the A-XMP switch to get your memory operating at the listed speed. Very happy with it.Improvement Points: A second M.2 slot would have been nice but not essential.

I bought this 2 1/2 years ago and still don't have a working board. First one lasted maybe a year.Returned, came back with 90% of the same problems [Bios errors causing blue screens, bad clamp that won't hold processor in place, bad front USB ports, etc], returned and they sent another and it was DOA, returned and they sent new one, which was a Tomahawk but essentially the same with the same physical defects. However, was DOA. They refuse to give the money back, claims they can only send another board. Went thru the BBB and they ignored that. Will try the CA state attorney general next. Will never buy another MSI product.
