The review prompt asks ?what does it look like in real life?? Well the outside was a black plastic jug as expected. The branding was some sort of paper affixed to the jug, I imagine with some kind of adhesive, possible a sticker? But who really knows, that?s between motul and their god.As for the inside, it was full of viscous liquid, also as expected. When I poured it into the 2012 Bonneville, the jug was like ?glugglugglugglug? and towards the end of the jug it made a ?doopdoopdoop? sound. The bike said ?bet! good lookin out fam, I?m not tryna seize up lmao.?I almost gave this 4 stars because I didn?t much care for the taste, it was minerally and had a strange dinosaur-y after taste. I kept it 5 stars because it seems like pretty good oil, I can tell because my ...Β MoreThe review prompt asks ?what does it look like in real life?? I kept it 5 stars because it seems like pretty good oil, I can tell because my engine didn?t break which is always a plus. I went with 15w this time around because I read that it can help reduce the clunk when shifting- I think it did a little bit but I have not performed a decibel test. cheers.

Oil is Motul. Enough said? If not, I can confirm that this is good oil. No carbon deposits, sludge or varnish using this stuff. That said, the 5100 is quite slippery, even though it is JASO MA2 rated, which is why I obtained uprated clutch springs previously for the GSX. The filter is Hi Flo. From online research, I believe it is made by K&N. Again, this stuff is important as I've found cheap oil and also cheap filters to actually damage engines on a number of occasions. Non return and bypass valves are important as is the integrity of the filter medium. I've seen 2 screwed engines in the last 18 months which had uneconomic damage caused by crap oil. This is of especial importance if the engine is oil and air cooled due to hotter oil temperatures. Counterfeit stuff ...Β MoreOil is Motul. Enough said? If not, I can confirm that this is good oil. Counterfeit stuff is becoming a major issue by I have no worries in these products or from purchasing from Busters. I've included photos of 2 engines. One was damaged using the recommended oil (80000 miles) and the other clean one has 40000 miles on it using the oil I recommend. It was not cleaned prior to taking photos. The photos are not of bike engines but the 5100 will keep the engine just as clean as my GSX and VF can prove.

I used Motul 5000 before but wanted a step up. As well as the bike feeling smooother I can definately feel a positive difference difference in the gearbox. Whether that's down to comparing used oil with fresh is possible but I don't remember feeling as much of a noticeable difference when I switched to 5000. So will be using 5100 from now on.

Have owned my 2009 Triumph Sprint ST 1050 since new and have used this oil exclusively. The bike has now covered 45,000 miles with annual oil and filter changes. The bike has never needed an oil top-up between services and gearchanges are always smooth.Great value oil that does what it says on the tin!
I bought this last year about this time to change oil for winter storage. I decided to go ahead and run it in the bike for the season this year since I knew I would not be riding a lot of miles and no aggressive riding compared to usual years. I have been using 300v over the past few years so I will compare to that. After about 1500 kms of just commuting to my shop and a few evening rides for enjoyment this oil started isbehaving. It got very dirty looking for some reason. What bothered me about it is that shifting did not feel good at all. We know the difference of feel between crappy oil and nice oil when shifting. This felt on the crappy end of the spectrum. I have not had the oil tested nor do I ever intend to. I also know that the 300v is not usually a correct choice but I was doing some pretty hard riding in some hot conditions for long days at a time. I am going to move to 7100 and give that a try. I will likely never come back to this oil.
