I have used this product in my 'Diesel' (non two stroke) since its second oil change and at 66K and 11 seasons, I would say it's doing its job. This is a semi synthetic oil, which my owners manual says is suitable for my engine, but do check your manual before you start using the full synthetic. In a conversation with the Motul people at Laguna a few years back, I asked the oil life expectancy of this product. They recommended around 5200-5500 K is the max a consumer should go, so that works out to a season for most of us.

Great oil. The "smooth shifting" formula really makes a difference. Had Motul in my old race bike. Switched to another name brand synthetic from a sponsor. Shifting became more difficult. Changed back to Motul & shifting got easier. I would not have have believed it if not for this experience. I have run it exclusively ever since. Great oil, and no engine problems.

I've been using Motul 7100 full synthetic oil on my bikes up to now so thought I would give this semisynthetic 5100 a try. I like the full synthetic because of the red colour so my only gripe is this oil is not coloured, making it harder to see oil levels through site window. Not that big a deal but it would be nice.
I use this in all my bikes; a '96 Trophy 900, an '84 FJ1100 and a '78 KZ650; works great in all of them. When I changed to Motul 5100 in my FJ1100 there was a noticeable improvement in shift quality, less so in the other bikes. Being a semi-synthetic, there is no issue using it in older bikes.
Absolutely love this oil!Figured it would be a good time to change oil after i noticed some rougher gear changes after the 3500km interval.Decided for this Semi-Synthetic oil because of my read ups of people having clutch slippage with fully synthetic oils in Gsx-r, and that the manual only recommends semi synth. blend max.And let me tell you what, after this oil change with the 10w40 5100 Ester 4T, my bike Shifts smooth as butter, what a dream to ride. Can't notice gear changes it is so smooth, no jerking and popping anymore... from now on, this is my go-to oil for my Gsxr 1000 with power commander and power ret*rd eliminator.
I bought this last year about this time to change oil for winter storage. I decided to go ahead and run it in the bike for the season this year since I knew I would not be riding a lot of miles and no aggressive riding compared to usual years. I have been using 300v over the past few years so I will compare to that. After about 1500 kms of just commuting to my shop and a few evening rides for enjoyment this oil started isbehaving. It got very dirty looking for some reason. What bothered me about it is that shifting did not feel good at all. We know the difference of feel between crappy oil and nice oil when shifting. This felt on the crappy end of the spectrum. I have not had the oil tested nor do I ever intend to. I also know that the 300v is not usually a correct ... MoreI bought this last year about this time to change oil for winter storage. I also know that the 300v is not usually a correct choice but I was doing some pretty hard riding in some hot conditions for long days at a time. I am going to move to 7100 and give that a try. I will likely never come back to this oil.
I was never too picky with oils but finally decided to do some research and settled on Motul for the best oil that won't break your wallet. Since changing to this oil I've noticed smoother shifting, even after downgrading from full synthetic. My previous oil was Royal Purple and no way am I going back! May try full synthetic in the future but overall extremely pleased with this purchase.
I actually miss purchased this thinking it was full synthetic when it arrived I just ended up googling it and looking at some other reviews based on the mostly satisfied reviews I decided to keep it and try it out.The positives that I noticed from this motor oil is that it does seem to handle cooling easily as well as the recommended manufacturers motül at a fraction of the price... KTM 1290SD my engine oils typically around 89-90 Celsius during typical riding conditions and closer to 92-99 Celsius if ridden hard ( ambient temp of 15-17 Celsius )The bike has a hydraulic clutch and I haven’t noticed any difference in shift quality ( shifts like butter since day one now with 14200km )The only negative is the requirement to change the oil earlier then full ... MoreI actually miss purchased this thinking it was full synthetic when it arrived I just ended up googling it and looking at some other reviews based on the mostly satisfied reviews I decided to keep it and try it out.The positives that I noticed from this motor oil is that it does seem to handle cooling easily as well as the recommended manufacturers motül at a fraction of the price... I've tried a few brands, but Motul's 5100 Ester 4T semi synthetic oil is the perfect mix for my bike. It lubricates and protects my engine with ease, and it's the perfect viscosity for the ZRX's clutch. The shifts are effortless and direct... no slipping at all.
