I have a battery that failed and called Ryobi. I was approved for a replacement because it was still under warranty. That was June 7th. I was told I would get an email in a few days, when the battery has shipped. No email, so a week later I called Ryobi. I was told it was still being processed at the warehouse and that they would call and get it moved along and that I should receive an email notification in a few days. Well it is now July 4th. I just got off the phone and was told that they are having troubles with their manufacturer and best case is that I would receive a battery in mid-August (that's 10 weeks away!!!). I asked for other options. Could I purchase in store and submit a receipt? I was told 'No'. So I am stuck. Batteries is the backbone of Ryobi's ... MoreI have a battery that failed and called Ryobi. The battery won't last you 2 years. l I've wasted $500 on batteries wince purchase of the lawnmower 4 years ago. And Home Depot / RYOBI have been no help in replacing it. I've kept the battery indoors at all times in proper conditions. I'm currently selling my lawnmower. This is the most expensive lawnmower I ever could have imagined.

We purchased 2-Ryobi 40 volt mowers and 2-trimmers. We have 4 batteries, only one battery works. We are considering taking the entire works to the dump. Last year I was on hold with customer service for hours only to to be told I had the wrong department. I went and purchased a new $198 battery that lasted 2 months. I have multiple chargers and have tried to re-energize the batteries from the dead with online tricks all with no luck. Unless Ryobi sends us a bunch of free batteries the entire lot will be placed on display at the nearest landfill.

The 40V lithium-ion 4.0 Ah battery lasted through a lawn mowing with some charge remaining, however, it was a light cutting. I don't like that the manufacturer has changed the battery case so that now, while the battery still slides into place, the lid can no longer be closed fully shut. This will allow dust to get into the chamber.
This battery has been used minimally for 2 summers... maybe has a total of a couple hours use. Went to start the mower this season (with the battery off the mower, in charger, in a heated shop) and the battery was dead... put it back on the charger and shows as defective!!?? I have several 18v Ryobi tools with 6 batteries on a Ryobi charger... have had for about 5-6 years and have yet to fail a battery. Very disappointed with the 40v battery, and replacement is 148.00 .. !! Makes no sense at all. Would I recommend to a friend? Depends on the outcome of this issue.
My mower came with 2 of these batteries. Just before the warranty expired both batteries were dead and wouldn't take a charge. They were replaced under the warranty. One year latter, one battery died, same issue. Now another year later the remaining battery has same issue. They were stored as per instructions in the winter. I really like the mower, it does a great job. However the batteries are too expensive to replace at $178 each. A new mower is not much more. I can't be replacing batteries at that cost and as a result of 5 batteries in 5 years, I can't recommend the mowers.
40V battery - Not Charging only 1 season oldAs a previous reviewer noted - The battery works great for one season, and then when you charge it in a few months, it won't charge. Flashing showing defective battery. - I shouldn't have to buy a new battery every spring!! I have a weed eater and blower. I guess I need to buy a new weed eater and blower which has a battery that will as long as the warranty!! I Registered the product and scanned the receipt - So I called Customer Service line no agents available during noted Monday to Friday hours - so asked for a call back - No call back - now am on hold going on 1 hour. - DO NOT BUY RYOBI- There is no way to access warranty - if they don't answer the phone or call you back. I suggest RIGID as they stand behind their ... Purchased this 4Ah battery as backup for 5Ah for my Ryobi mower and snowthrower. Just barely fits into mower for electrical contact because of sloped front and does not fit at all into snowthrower because of slope and new shape of sides. Ryobi has changed battery shape and battery receiver, This reflects poor planning for compatibility with older models. Have contacted Ryobi headquarters in the U.S. twice about this issue but never received reply to my letter.
This battery is pretty amazing. It is nearly identical to the 6ah battery pack, but has twice the capacity and charges much much faster if you have the proper charger. I don't have the fast charger, so I cannot verify that.Battery life was ok, I was able to get around 750wh out of the 864wh listed on the battery. One big upgrade is the new handle. It is so much easier to pull the battery and carry it. The old batteries are manageable, but this is way better. The blue tooth is always on, so your battery is using power even if it isn't plugged in.The app doesn't provide any information other than last known location and battery serial number. You can assign the battery to persons or groups. The new style battery has more and larger vent holes. Not sure how that ... MoreThis battery is pretty amazing. this battery came with a combo tool kit of a jet blower pack and weed trimmer. bought the combo in 2022 and live on a 1 1/4 acre lot. the weed trimmer used to do the whole property the first season but now the last 1.5 years (23, part of 24) I'm lucky if the battery lasts to do half my yard. its pretty annoying it takes 2 days to weed trim. also when using the blower pack, I'm lucky if I get 20 mins of use to blow leaves etc . i weed trim maybe every 3 weeks and use the blower a few times in the fall. tools are good but the battery life sucks. battery costs around $220 and the combo at the time was low 300's on sale with tax. might as well buy another combo kit for the price of the battery....
