The dust collection system, paired with the durable dust bag or universal hose adapter minimises clean up time through a cleaner work environment. This sander, like most Milwaukee products, is a beast! It has really thoughtful features like a sliding handle so you can get flush to,walls or other vertical surfaces. Plus it’s speed control allows you to manage between very fast material removal to finer finish sanding.Excellent product!

This tool is amazing! I didn’t expect this much power out of a cordless tool. It does it’s job perfectly and efficiently. All the adjustments and controls are tool- free. The dust control is spectacular and that is super important in a remodeling scenario. I’m glad I bought it.I’d suggest buying big batteries and a multiport rapid charger if you’re going to run this for more than a half hour. You also need to be physically able to control this tool- it’s a beast! It will give you better results than an old plug- in belt sander though. There are moments where it will cut itself off from overheating- it’s annoying, but it keeps the sander (and you) from burning out. If you are a pro and already have batteries, this is definitely worth buying.

Milwaukee's belt sander is an awesome addition to the M18 collection of sanding tools. The belt sander generates the power and torque of an 8 amp corded belt sander, with out the hassle of cords or needing a power source to run your sander. The sander runs 3" x 18" belts at a max speed of 1350 SFM. There is an on board speed dial that allows you to adjust speeds from 750 SFM to 1350 SFM. Also featured with the belt sander is a dust collection system which features a dust bag or a universal hose adapter to connect your vacuum directly to the sander. The top handle for the sander is adjustable for more compact storage and also allows you to sand flush to the front of the tool, and adjusting is tool free. Handle placement is good for overall good control and ease of use over extended periods of time. I like not only that it's cordless but also tool less to change the belt or adjust then pommel on the sander. I think the tool does a great job of collecting dust, especially when I attach my shop vac to the vacuum port on the back of the tool. In terms of performance, I do not feel that it lacks in any way when compared to a corded belt sander. I recently used the belt sander on a couple of different projects I worked on which included making a bard door and also a small stage platform with a curved edge. This tool did a great job of smoothing out my curves as well as edges in a short period of time. Overall well worth the wait!!

More power than I expected, this sander does not bog down even when using aggressive belts. The dust collection is pretty good and the light is helpful. It does use the shorter belts which are not as easily available in my area. You will go through batteries pretty fast so use the 6 A*h packs or larger.I would give it a 5 except that belt tracking is super fussy. Far more so that any other belt sander I have used previously. I have to keep a sharp eye on the belt or it moves to one edge or the other. Seems to be too much slop in the adjustment.
Thought this would be a nice little lightweight sander, wrong! This is a full bore belt sander that can handle all the tasks you ask it to do. It has the power to cut material, and the battery lasts surprisingly long. The dust collection is about the best I’ve seen, one thing I’d like to see would be disposable dust bags. The dust bags always get holes and spray dust, emptying them is a mess. If disposable you would change it before it gets holed and not have to clean out the bag.
I was hoping this belt sander would do the job,…. And boy did it? This has great power and just works its way through the surface. In re-working our deck surface, it just cruises over the surface pulling off the old stain to fresh wood. I keep some batteries charged and just swap em out and keep going. I love this belt sander and the best part is I don’t have to worry about cords.
The base of this sander is all wrong they use a 3in wide belt but the base is almost 4in wide. If you tip this sander just a little bit its going to leave a deep scratch on the workpiece. I haven't seen any other belt sander designed like this. also the edges around the metal base have raised edges that are sharp all the way around it will gouge the workpiece bad if you tip this just a hair and possibly tear the belt up prematurely. not sure why the built it this way. would not recommend very disappointed with purchase.
To start I have over 60+ Milwaukee in my personal shop and over 150+ Milwaukee within my company. So I live and breath Milwaukee. This is my 1st review and it’s only because I’m very disappointed with the belt sander. It goes through an HD12 battery in less than 10 minutes and an XC8 in less than 5 minutes. It eats belts belts faster than the batteries and shuts down after about 10 minutes, believe it to be a thermal overheat shutdown. Why put a 3” belt on a 4” base? If you tilt the sander ever so slightly it will gouge your work, guaranteed. The close sanding edge of the unit is on the right side rather than the left, most have been designed by a leftie. The Positives - belt changes are easy and the red matches my other tools, may be sitting on my shelf for a long ... I install a lot of kitchens. The 3x18 belt sander is perfect for flattening out counter tops and scribing. It’s got all the power I need in a compact package.I haven’t tried it on any timber work yet but I’m thinking heavy use is going to drain some battery’s pretty quickly. So far so good with this tool
great sander, but very targeted userbase. belt sanders are one of the best tools for fixing glass scratches, but this one is a bit too fast. a softer rubber would also help.i suspect many people would not use this is these ways, but correctly done with patience, is priceless. please offer the end user a lower rpm, and a softer rubber or otional drums?
