I recently bought a McIntosh MA252 Tube/Hybrid because I loved the sound and 160 watts/4ohm nominal was more than enough to drive my speakers (KEF LS50 Metas). The Marantz ND8006 is a very nice unit. However the HEOS software for streaming is terrible. Like something out of 2003. Integration with Tidal is very wonky and you have to use the HEOS application to play Tidal music. The shuffle and even playlist capability is nearly unusable. I'm sorry that I bought this CD-Streamer exclusively because of the HEOS app/software. Will most likely sell the unit and get something else. Oh and I've contacted Marantz/Denon about this issue and got zero reply. I have also heard from other reviewers that they have had the same non response from the manufacturer.

It performs exceptionally well as a DAC, although I wish it had the ability to support MQA. As a streaming device, it gets it done but again, lacks things like high bitrate Bluetooth codecs such as AptX HD or LDAC. I use Airplay so I can use the native music apps. I bought the Marantz ND8006 as a "high-end" CD player for my main system. I have a Marantz CD5006 in my other system. The CD5006 is well built and a decent performer.I was expecting a bit better from the ND8006, but it seems a lateral move for three times the price. Sure, it has everything but the kitchen sink in abilities and is well built just as any Marantz product in it's line.Solid construction, well made transport, etc. However, there are areas that are disappointing. One would be better off using an outboard DAC with the ND8006 instead. The rest of the features work well such as unused ports being turned off to improve signal, networking, bluetooth, streaming, etc. It even interacts with Alexa if you have one of those. The only other drawback is the display and remote. For the remote, it is too busy and has many buttons that are never used. The display is as expected, but doesn't serve when streaming as it is a scrolly, so information is very limited and can not be seen from more than a couple of feet away.

I wasn't interested in having a unit that rips CDs (more effectively accomplished on a PC) and this unit is one of the few out there that accomplish the necessary tasks at a mid price range. However the HEOS streaming software from Marantz/Denon is a ONE STAR and probably less than that. In order to stream TIDAL for increased bandwidth you have to go through HEOS. And HEOS sucks. I now can access and play every piece of digital music I own into my 2-channel listening room, kitchen, outdoors and other areas. I appreciate the feature set - fixed and variable analog outputs, digital ins and outs, front panel USB. etc. The built-in DAC's sound is competitive with outboard DACs but nothing is stopping me from using an outboard DAC should I get the itch to try one. The Marantz CD player is the only new piece of equipment in my system. The other components are old school. But the features bring a whole new experience to my listening capabilities. It easily connects with my homes wi-fi and my phones Bluetooth. So in addition to CD's, I can stream music from multiples sources by going through the CD player. The quality of the player and moving parts is first rate. The drawer mechanism is smooth and strong. The electronics must also be top quality because the sound from the speakers is so pure and a joy to hear. It has worked flawlessly since its install and should last many years based on its build quality.
I purchased the ND8006 to stream ACC digital music files from my Apple devices (CDs I burned to iTunes). It works great using Airplay and HEOS from my Mac computers, iPad, iPod, and iPhone. I had been steaming music using Apple TV but I actually prefer the ND8006 for streaming music with Airplay. I liked it so much I bought a second ND8006. Sound Quality is excellent for what it is. Not highend reference quality like my CD14S2 SACD player but CD quality. The DAC in the ND8006 is high quality. If you are looking to stream music with Apple devices this the ND8006 is worth checking out.
I've owned this, but recently upgraded to the 30N. The ND8006 is generally very good and excellent sounding for the money. Its two main shortcomings, in my opinion, are that it doesn't have SACD playback and the jitter control function, i.e. the 'Lockdown Range', is poor and something that it should not have and should be eliminated in a successor model of there is one. The jitter reduction should be optimized in the design and should not be adjustable by the user. I found that the optimal setting would be about half way between the Medium and Narrow, but of course, there are only 3 settings. It's just a dumb feature, and I was happy to not see it in the 30N. I can't tell you how many people I've come across online who passed on this model solely because it didn't have SACD playback. Moreover, the DAC chip does native DSD decoding, i.e. no conversion to PCM first, and even DSD files played back from the front USB drive are decoded natively. So it just makes no sense to not have SACD in a unit at this price point.
