I purchased this in April 2020 for the family to play with during the COVID19 quarantine. It is a very solid basketball goal. It takes at least 3 adults to install. The reviews about how much concrete you need are correct. I went through 16 bags of quickrete for the foundation. Be careful not to ream the anchor bolts when positioning the assembled unit over the foundation. After installation, a delivery driver ran into the goal when reversing. It damaged and bent the backboard support struts, but not the post, the backboard or the adjustment mechanism. All are very solid. After contacting Lifetime customer service to buy the replacement parts, they offered to ship the new struts and bolts for NO COST. Early days after installation but it feels sturdy and good value.Assembly was not too hard. Installation was a little harder with digging and concrete. Hardest part was lifting the system onto the bolts.Advice is to have 3 to lift it and 1 to bolt it down and... dont do it in the wind. Also be thoroughly prepared with the nuts and tools. We rushed the first time and damaged the threads on the bolts... then had to repair the threads.

Great Hoop

Bought this hoop because it was similar to one we used to have. Assembly was easy, worst part was digging thr hole to pour the concrete...but wasn't horrible. Hoop is solid...does have a little bit of shake to it but nothing crazy and it's solid. If I were to recommend anything would be to make the pole and base 6in square vs 4in and that would solve the shake problem but overall very happy with it.

Great big and sturdy basketball hoop very nice
6 May 2024

We bought this about a week ago and we have been very impressed. Sold, heavy parts. Will last along time. I do have one complaint, the hoop dose shake or move a bit after the ball is bounced off the back board. Almost like it should have one more angled bracket off the back to keep it from shaking.

Great hoop
18 June 2024

Very happy. Heavy duty. Used the exact amount of cement as recommended. 13 bags. Took my 2 teenage sons and me one morning to put it up. 3 days after it took us allDay to dig and set the concrete. Love how you can adjust the level after everything is set. 2 suggestions. I set the rim tension very tight. Then let it off a couple turns. Also make sure your plate is square to your playing area before the cement sets. Take your time don’t rush the install the directions are great and clear. Nothing beats a realGlass backboard. There is zero rattle and the rim is perfect if you tension is correctly. The sway is typical and doesn’t impact anything at all. Wish it came with a poll pad.

Gymnasium quality feel with minimal amount of movement.
21 July 2022

This hoop has a gymnasium quality feel to it and is a great deal for the price. There is some shake but not bad for a 2-piece 4" pole. When I first installed the concrete and anchor base I did so improperly and had to remove it. I called Lifetime Customer Service and spoke with Shannon. She was pleasant, professional; did an amazing job helping me and ultimately sent me a brand-new anchor kit free of charge. I can't say enough about Shannon and Lifetime Customer Service! It is important that you use 3 people when installing the system onto the anchor because of how awkward it is to move the unit once assembled.

I don't normally post reviews, and think most people post them without ever really testing the longevity of a product. We've had this for hoop 5 years, and it has held up very well. We purchased from Sports Authority, before they went out of business, and I could not find any glass backboard in-ground hoop that could match it's price. My friend has the same size one Goliath, but in my opinion this one is better. I purchased this hoop because of the four bold mount. I was worried that the pole might settle overtime, and I could use the bolts to make minor adjustment. Well, I've checked it over time and it hasn't budged, but I do believe the 4-bold system makes installation a little easier, and probably helps prevent corrosion at the base. The only quibble I can think of, is the orange hoop has faded a bit. It doesn't really bother me, but I wonder if a different paint or powder coat might hold up to the sun better. Doesn't really matter, but I thought I'd share.

The In-Ground Basketball Backboard and Pole by Lifetime is a SLAM DUNK!. This is a high quality product that provides hours of backyard fun. If has many great features including the 60 inch Glass backboard and the crank adjustment to raise and lower the backboard easily for different levels of players. For safety it comes with a breakaway goal, for the big kids! Also, the 24" offset from backboard to pole moves the pole out of the competition area. So, the challenging aspect is the install. The other significant work is digging the recommended 30" deep by 21" square hole...call your local utilities to locate lines before you dig. Note there is nearly 8 cu ft. of dirt...so have some place to put it. Also it will take about 8-10 - 80 lbs.bags of concrete mix to fill the hole...DO NOT DUMP DRY MIX INTO THE HOLE!...be sure and mix it as directed to get the right consistency so you end up with a strong foundation...you might want to rent a portable mixer...I fortunately have one to use. Also, allow plenty of drying time for the foundation to set up (min. 1-2 days). I would not recommend the quick dry mixes used for installing fence post. The unit has a pretty simple way to level the goal. Once it's up this is great fun and can grow as your kids grow. My grandkids love this because its at the same height they play during the season.

Wobble Wobble Wobble
11 June 2024

$698 for this?! Look at the amount of wobble this goal has! It wobbles for over 40 secs after my last shot. I used 15 bags of 80lb concrete, I made the bottom wider than the top, and it's still a disaster. I get that it's only a 4" post, but maybe they shouldn't offer a glass backboard with this size post then. It just makes them look bad. I've read other people using sand to fill the post (I don't think it was for the particular goal), but the top is welded closed, so you would have to do it before you put the two posts together. That would make it even heavier to assemble, but maybe worth it, though too late now.Would I buy this again? HA! What do you think?

Wobbly

Overall this is a nice basketball goal. The instructions are very easy to follow, and it was simple to put together. The hardest part was digging the footing and pouring concrete, but it wasn't too bad. I matched the dimensions required 21"x21"x30" and it took exactly 13 bags of 80lb Quikcrete. I really like being able to level it and adjust as needed via the anchor bolts. If I ever wanted to move or sell it, easy to unbolt and remove. I didn't intend to buy one with a glass backboard, but I like it and the ball bounces off it nicely. The rim is very solid and sturdy. The crank adjustment is nice and easy to use. My only complaint is the pole, the tubing thickness is way too thin. Every shot results in a good amount of wobble, even at 7.5'. I can somewhat live with that, but there is absolutely no way this thing will hold up if anyone tries to dunk on it. It's a shame because I think everything else is sturdy enough. The tubing is just too thin. There are some gussets at the bottom flange for support, but it's not enough. If I would fill the pole with concrete that would make the pole strong enough, but it would probably need larger anchors to accommodate the extra weight. It's unfortunate because I like everything else about the goal.
