LG 27" IPS 4K UHD Monitor with VESA DisplayHDR 400

I needed a second monitor for my office. I wanted it to have the same bezel and look as my 1440p Ultragear display. I found this for $349AUD on sale at centrecom, which felt like a steal! And honestly, it was plug and play. Easy as! Plug in, and it just works. Going 4K is epic for clarity of text. It’s made me consider upgrading my 1440p because 4k is so much sharper. Contrast is okay for an LED panel, if you’re used to OLED it won’t compare. But I’ve been running old games like Zelda on my computer and the colour actually feels very vibrant and rich. So overall between text clarity and games, I’ve been perfectly happy with this. I would have liked to have some USB ports or USB-C ports on the back… but, that’s what you get when you pay more money. I would have liked to have some USB ports or USB-C ports on the back… but, that’s what you get when you pay more money. I VESA mounted mine and I do have one genuine criticism: the VESA panel on the back looks like it has a cover over the top of it that needs to be popped out. I was confused by this! I thought I had to work it out so I could access the spot where the VESA mount would be placed. I found a small thread on reddit of a dude who had the same concern. But it seems like you just literally put the vesa mount on top of the plate on the back and screw it in. So far so good! It hasn’t fallen.

Disclaimer: This monitor was provided at a discounted price for my honest review. 27UP600-W is a great 27 inch monitor. The features that make it stand out would be the color accuracy. This monitor DCI-P3 which is perfect for the video/picture editors out there who will use this to show the actual colors for the end result of the media. The refresh rates are perfect that the image is not ghosting or have and streaks during the fast movements. Blacks are actually black instead of a darker grey which is a downside on lesser screens. This also has the FreeSync support depending on if your video output supports it along with a very good HDR for providing a good contrast of the image. The image still is very bright even though it has a matte finish. The image still is very bright even though it has a matte finish. This is a plus because it reduces the reflections and resists fingerprints on the screen. The looks of this monitor is pretty standard so nothing special to talk about on that. It does have small bezels around the screen so that helps with modernizing the look. No touch screen is available on this but that is honestly a feature that I do not use much. All in all this is a great screen that is a perfect size and doesn't really take up too much space on the desk. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to have a great monitor for their computing needs that will also work well for gaming, video/photo editing needs.

Now that I have it working I am happy with the monitor, but it took me a while to get the monitor to work. This monitor would not work without drivers. If you google this monitor you will find multiple articles online discussing how this monitor won't work without drivers. Yet when I reached out to LG customer support for help getting it to work and suggested maybe drivers would help, they insisted it didn't need drivers. I decided to just leave it plugged into my computer for a while with the blank screen, and after a while the drivers automatically downloaded, installing an Intel control center which allowed the monitor to turn on. I decided to just leave it plugged into my computer for a while with the blank screen, and after a while the drivers automatically downloaded, installing an Intel control center which allowed the monitor to turn on. However, I don't think the intel were the proper drivers because I still had to come to the LG website and download LG drivers before the LG monitor was detected as anything other than generic. I also went through a major headache going through display and HDMI ports on my computer before I got the monitor and HDR streaming properly detected on a HDMI port (and the monitor to stop blanking every few minutes). Overall set up was a nightmare. But now that it's working with the proper drivers in the right HDMI port everything seems to be OK.
