Leica D-Lux 7 4K Compact Camera

I'm really getting to like this little camera. I was looking for an everyday carry, with a zoom and a bigger sensor than my phone and this ticked the boxes. Ok, it's a five year old model and its successor, the D-Lux 8 is now available - if you can find one or are prepared to wait 'x' months for it to come through - but the 7 is still a solid performer with just a slightly lower spec than the 8.It is very compact - considerably smaller than my Fujifilm X-T5 - but has some heft to it. It has a m43 sensor which is smaller than my Fujifilm but larger than my phone; as a carry around camera that has a 24mm-75mm equiv. lens it's pretty difficult to beat.Image quality is pretty good, especially for web/screen use. I don't find the menu system particularly friendly (Fujifilm's is far better in my mind), and I'm in two minds about the touch screen which it is very easy to accidently touch due to the small size of the camera (I've currently turned this off).Like a lot of cameras these days the D-Lux 7 is probably more capable that I actually need it to be and has some features that I'm unlikely to use. It's very well spec'd out.Final thoughts - it's a bit slippery to hold so a half case is a good idea to bulk it out, and the Leica neck strap is horrid - for a camera this size I find a wrist strap a better, more compact, option.

Since years I heard about the Leica look in a picture. I wasn't sure what people were talking about, but I reviewed Leica pictures and I really liked them. I liked the colors, I liked the feel of it. I finally decided to get one. I got the Leica D-Lux 7, the most affordable Leica. I also got it because I have a pro set up and I didn't feel I need another camera that does the same. So I got the D-Lux 7, and I must say, since I got it it I used it constantly. The picture quality is outstanding. Now I know what people refer to when they speak about the Leica-look. Good choice

I rented a Leica D-Lux 7 and a Sony RX100 VIII in order to determine if either could serve as a lighter, leaner, choice for vacation/travel. My current system is a Nikon DSLR and a full complement of lenses. In short, the Leica worked for me, while the Sony did not. The key features of the Leica which were decisive: the ability to switch to manual focus without going deep into the menu; easy adjustment of ISO; easy to setup so that I didn't accidentally switch modes. The photos on both were fine, but that is a subjective judgment as was the Leica images being cleaner, perhaps due to the larger (though somewhat fewer) photosites in the Leica 4/3 sensor compared to the Sony 1 inch sensor.

I'd give this camera 5 stars for performance, quality, and features. It's a great travel camera that's light and easy to carry around, and image quality is very good.I'm taking one star off though because the wi-fi/bluetooth connection to my phone is buggy and/or unstable to the point of being useless.I'm taking another star off due to the poor customer support. I asked them about the above problem 2-3 weeks ago and there has been no real response.Despite the otherwise excellent camera, I'm a bit disillusioned with the brand. This was my first Leica and my expectations were high. I didn't expect that a company with Leica's reputation would have such issues. I'm also very surprised at the cost of Leica branded accessories. Great travel camera

I purchased the D-LUX 7 to take with me on the road/travelling as a personal camera. I am a full time photographer mainly in the wedding/corporate world but love landscape photography. So was curious to see how I would like the RAW files/overall feel of this camera coming from working with Nikon D850/Canon Mark IV RAW files. So far I have really been digging having this little guy. Recently was on a trip in CO, WY, and the black hills of SD and didn't miss having a chunky DSLR + lenses with me at all. Pleasantly surprised with dynamic range in the files, specifically shadow recovery. Can be a bit noisy but for the purpose of digitally posting files it's totally fine. I haven't tried the 4k burst modes and other stuff light that, but I'm sure they are implemented well. Don't expect A7 iii/D850/Mark IV type files, but at 17mp and the ability to go down to f/1.7 at 24mm it's a nice, fun, versatile point and shoot to throw in your backpack and do whatever the heck you want with it.

Hi tech

Leica D-Lux7 is a technological feat. There is a learning curve and at a week I've a long way to go. It is small and light, the lens excursion is more than I expected and it's quick to shoot. Having the aspect ratio readily available in shooting mode is great. Leica FOTO software has changed the way I'm shooting. Establishing a Bluetooth connection with an iphone and iPad was easy enough and taking and looking at hi res images on a bigger screen while still shooting is very useful. I'm hoping that the D-Lux will replace a camera bag full of glass

I purchased a Leica D-lux 7, was one of the few that was able to get one. Do not buy! The copy that I received was totally faulty. When proven to the customer service, I was ghosted the will not respond nor will they take any action to rectify the problem. I’ve sent photos to two different customer service reps Iyla Romanoff and Bryon Roy, both have ghosted me when they received the photos. I really don’t know but when there is a problem, you address it! These people only care about the bottom line, so the camera I received is faulty. Once they had determined this, the game was over. I then decided to take a chance and ordered the D-Lux 7. When I took the first few photos of my wife, the revelation hit. I took it on a paid shoot, and the images were unlike anything I had seen before. I came home and took a serious look at my Sony A7RII, and with mixed feelings (because I loved that camera) I boxed it up, along with my 85mm G Master lens and my 55mm Sony Zeiss and sold them. Tired camera

I’ve rented this model 3 other times for the size and convenience and photo quality. Guys, I got a tired camera with a motor drive that “sometimes”Retracted the lens. If it didn’t, you had to constantly turn it on and off. It felt like a really cobbled up camera.The photo quality is not great.I wish I brought my big rig instead to Como. Pretty disappointed.
