I prevaricated a long time before getting this one because, like all current Star Wars Lego, it is expensive. In the end I got it from ebay (without minifigures) for less than half the original price. This set builds up into a structurally solid, swoosh-able and accurate piece of kit.The designer has used unconventional and imaginative build techniques and these have been split down into instruction steps which are admirably clear for a set with so many black pieces. As others have said, aligning technic pegs and axles is quite challenging in some of the build steps - look at step 56 or step 180/238 - but absolutely necessary to get the wingfold working solidly.Surface decoration is a real gem, including imaginative use of ice skates and front fenders.A ... MoreI prevaricated a long time before getting this one because, like all current Star Wars Lego, it is expensive. I built this over the course of a few days, as the lead assistant for a determined five year old. A lot of it was accessible to her, although some of the trickier technic pieces were more for me in terms of the instructions and the execution (to be clear, the difficulty rating is relative to the top level of complexity and scale in the SW setting, like the black box sets).I ended up liking it a whole lot more than I expected, and as a design and use of cool Lego tricks, I think it's much more successful as a design and as a toy than either of the X Wings we've built, which are more fragile and more fiddly, and have less things to do when they are being played with. It has a lot of really nice playability features, although I'm excited to see that the new imperial shuttle actually uses the interior space more fully for minifigs rather than the (very cool) mechanical underpinnings that are the heart of this one. It's very sturdy and resilient for everyday play, and of course the Kylo minifig is a very cool addition to any collection. A much stronger recommendation than I would have expected. Only downside is the thing inherent to many craft builds, which is having to do one side and then do the other mirror image, which is fine for me but can try the patience of kids.Strongly recommended!

I would say that for anyone who loves Kylo Ren or the First Order, this set is a no brainer. The ship looks amazing in all stages, whether with the wings folded and straight up for landing or unfolded and angled for flight. The interior feels much roomier compared to Krennic's shuttle and is easy to open up. I do wish it included landing gear/flaps at the bottoms of the wings like the 2015 shuttle did, without them this one sits very low to the ground when landed. The building process did not feel as tiring or repetitive as I was expecting and overall I enjoyed the experience of putting it together. The 6 minifigures all are very well detailed. General Pryde has a great face print and a very nice gunmetal gray uniform. The Sith Trooper looks better in person than I thought based on the pictures and has great prints. This set is easily my favorite that I've bought this year, winning out over Vader's Castle, and even likely my favorite Star Wars vehicle that I own. I highly recommend the set to all with interest in the Dark Side characters.

Kylo Ren's Junkpile

Let's start with the pros: I was very pleased with the minifigs the knights of ren look great and so does Kylo and the storm/sith troopers. I do wish It was general Hux in this and not Pryde, but I am overall happy with the minifigs. The body of the ship is also good however there is a lot of wasted space in the back and the body can only hold 3 minifigs. This is also quite a step up from the 2015 version though so thank you lego for getting the color right. It does look like kylo ren's shuttle. Cons: the wings are cons. They are covered in fairly large tiles which fall off constantly. Putting the wings onto the body is a nightmare if you mess up one step you will be taking apart half the build to fix it (this happened to me). The designers also tried to add an extra play feature by making it so the wings were foldable but this puts stress on pieces and has to be done very delicately or the wings will just fall apart. The set does not offer many display options as all you can really do with it is shoot and fold the wings in toward the body.

Son loved it
29 December 2023

Arrived in time for Christmas (thank you!). My son built the whole thing - all parts included just as described. Honestly I think it was an even more engaging experience that the parts were organized in ziplocks according to type (not in bag 1/2/3 etc as the menu goes). Made it just a touch more challenging for my son which was great. A very happy camper!

Picked this up alongside the new Tie Fighter on Boxing Day. Pleasantly surprised with both sets. Now after finding time to build it I can say it was well worth waiting to do so.My thoughts? To begin with I want to thank Lego and their designers for the improvements on this set. The 2015 version with all the grey pieces and wings that couldn't fold was great but this set fixes it all. I remember my brother being slightly disappointed upon viewing the film and seeing the wings folding. The black bricks and the red contrast so well, making it look wonderful. As always the build was fun, taking extra time to make sure I built it correctly. At the end the comcpit wouldnt shut but soon I learned it was an error on my part, not putting the correct piece in place. The ... MorePicked this up alongside the new Tie Fighter on Boxing Day. As always the build was fun, taking extra time to make sure I built it correctly. At the end the comcpit wouldnt shut but soon I learned it was an error on my part, not putting the correct piece in place. The system used to move the wings is fabulous, loved the moment I moved the wings when I finished it. Not only that but the detail is awesome too. The roof mainly has some great details which I enjoyed upon completing that segment. Overall this is a great edition fo my collection.Onto the figures which are excellent. Honestly I wasnt sure if any of the Knights of Ren could be made into Lego but I was pleasantly surprised. Their helmets and torsos are absolutely great, the detail on them is too. Kylo Ren is great too with the helmet and the cracks printed on it. General Pryde is good, really enjoy the torso however he does seem a little bit like Tarkin. The last two figures are great, another Stormtrooper which I am pleased to add to my ever growing army of them and the Sithtrooper is great. The weapon design for them was cool, expected it to be the more standard one but as said, cool. The price for some may be high, coming in at £100 but it is worth it to me. It does include specialist pieces for the specific build and four exclusive, currently by Jan 2020, figures. An example would be the spring piece. Kylo is currently only available in this set, well this version with the repaired helmet anyway. The Knights of Ren in this do not come in any other sets. Only other sets containing any of the 6 Knights is Poes X-wing and the Tie Dagger. Pryde is unlikely I think to show up again though in any sets. The Stormtrooper will no doubt become available in other sets since it is just your average one. I'm already aware of the Sith Trooper battle pack which only difference is the weapon this one comes with.Overall it is a great set with many improvements on the old counterpart. The set is fun to both display and mess around with. Never expected a revised version of the shuttle and am so happy with what has been done in this one.

First of many reviews to come, so where to begin? I’m always looking to expand upon my Star Wars set collection, as it’s mainly what I do (few exceptions being the Disney blind bags and the two D2C sets), and enjoy it a lot. The fulfillment of adding another piece of the saga to my own shelves is always a delight! I ordered this a few days ago, and was happy with how fast it arrived. After a few hours, I had finally put together this hefty build of a shuttle, and I must say that it is an amazing set with very few drawbacks.Pros:-Hefty build lends itself to great durability-Spring shooters are well hidden, and work great-The rotating engine allowing the wings to split further is neatly integrated-The extra knobs to extend the wingtips are also ... MoreFirst of many reviews to come, so where to begin? The Knights of Ren and their master, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren are easily the best. Extra props to Pryde and the two troopers.Cons:-I don’t know if I messed something up, but it’s just that the wings have a tendency to lean, but it’s nothing too much to worry about.-Spring shooters easily get fired if you poke the technic beams, because of how the ship itself is handled.-If you own the 2015 version (I don’t), I would just say to modify it. But you should still most definitely get the figures.

This set was so fun to build! We built this over a few nights. With 1005 pieces it was a great way to spend time with the family! All the pieces were included, none missing or damaged. This set is pretty big when complete. It is about 16 inches tall and about 20 inches wide!! However you are able to fold the wings up by turning the engine knobs , therefor making it easy to store in a shelf - if you can stop playing with it long enough! We love that it has space in the cockpit for three minutes figures! That is a big plus at playtime when you defending the galaxy! There are six mini figures and I have to admit the red Sith Trooper is our favorite. The all black color of the shuttle makes this ship look even more menacing. Some of the steps were a bit complicated for our child to do in his own but with a little help and guidance from an adult we got it completed.Overall this is a great set. Be ready to spend a few hours building but it is totally worth it when it is complete. You will have many hours playing with this shuttle!

It took us about 4 hours to assemble, we did take a break to have a snack in the middle of it. This Lego set is definitely big and requires a good amount of time to put together. The instructions were very clear to follow with pictures that showed step by step instructions. We absolutely loved that this shuttle includes 6 mini-figs and can fit 3 mini-figs inside the cockpit all while being able to still close without effort. Legos never seem to disappoint and always deliver great quality products.
