We've been saving up to buy several pieces of Le Creuset, and I admit I was nervous because of some of the negative reviews about food sticking. We couldn't be more delighted with the two skillets we purchased. We have followed the instructions by turning the heat down quite a bit and using a bit more oil to cook. After several weeks of use, not a single bit of food has stuck and everything has turned out flawlessly--including delicate eggs. The skillets heat very evenly, and they are very easy to clean if you put some water in the skillet and heat back up to remove any residue. They come out like brand new every time. We are SO happy with our purchase and look forward to a lifetime of culinary delights with this world class cookware.

So I was initially to receive my Le Creuset Skillet on Wednesday but due to an oversight on WS’s part I did not receive my Skillet until Saturday. I took Sarah (my Skillet) for a spin the next day by making taco meat, I had already Carefully READ the Instructions on how to Properly use this Skillet. I followed it to the T and all I have to say is Sarah did NOT disappoint. I added nothing to the pan (no oil or butter) I let the pan warm up on a MED/LOW setting (as instructed) and just added the meat and it cooked very well, evenly, and fairly quick. And to make it fair I even cleared and washed the Skillet with a Scrub Mommy (Soft Side Only) then dried it I let the Skillet warm up and placed about a TBSP of butter to evenly coat the Skillet. I placed one scrambled egg in the Skillet, again I used a MED/LOW setting as instructed and that scrambled egg cooked so beautifully I was in awe, it was a breeze to cook the egg and there was barely any egg residue left behind. This Skillet in no way shape or form needs to be seasoned this Skillet is not intended for a HIGH HEAT SETTING, it’s intended for MED/LOW SETTING and Nothing above that or else you’ll end up dissatisfied it’s not the Skillet it’s all on completely following the instructions given. Sarah (my Skillet) is going to be a kitchen workhorse for my home.

Therefore, if you are considering this pan you must do your research on how to look after it or you will hate it.The first time I cooked with it, everything stuck and I kept accidentally flicking things out the pan due to its shallow sides. - this was my error for using the pan to cook gnocchi, however, something to note if you wanted an all rounder pan this is not it.Once I got the hang of using the pan (a lot of oil, seasoning after use, drying thoroughly) it has been a dream.I got the black colour so that it won't discolour over time and it feels sturdy and well made (like all le Creuset!)However, it is extremely heavy. I am fairly strong but due to the short handle length and weighting of this pan it is almost impossible to pick up with one hand when cooking. The handle also gets very hot if cooking on the hob for long periods of time.As noted previously, this is not an all rounder pan. This pan is best used for meat and fish as it gives a lovely crisp coating without burning. If you use this pan for smaller food such as gnocchi or mixed veg be prepared for it to flick onto the floor. It is expensive for a pan however, it truly will last a lifetime and is much healthier and safer than non stick pans.Cleaning it is also very easy! Some hot water and a scrub daddy do the trick!

Great pan
5 December 2024

I love this pan! And the colour is gorgeous in person. I've already made pancakes, burgers and omelets on this. I used a dab of butter and it was completely non sfick.Prior to this purchase, I hadn't even heard of this store before. I'm so glad I found them, they're a hidden gem! Great pricing and fast shipping. The shipping box was filled with biodegradable packaging peanuts but my item box still had a big gash where the handle of the pan was poking out. Fortunately though, the item wasn't damaged.

Got the 11.75" in the color Marseille. The color is beautiful and fades from a light to dark blue. The skillet cooks well. To address the complaints of some other reviews:The first thing I made was crepes and they came out beautifully. I did not have any issues with them sticking to the pan. It is a must to follow the instructions that come with it. You need to use butter or oil and use a low to medium heat especially for delicate items. Also, the brown look that is left behind after washing is meant to be there. It states right in the booklet that comes with the skillet that a brown patina will develop on the pan and it is not meant to be scrubbed away. I haven't had any issues cooking or washing. The only con is that it takes awhile for the skillet to warm up and the center of the pan is hot while the edges are cooler. The larger skillets are probably better suited to a very large burner which my stove does not have. But, that being said, it is cast iron so long warm up time is expected. I enjoy cooking with it.

Just like my 44year old Le Creuset pan- terrific
24 September 2024

I have another Le Creuset larger skillet that is now 44 years old. It is still fantastic. I love it and use it often. This purchase was because I thought I needed a smaller Le Creuset skillet, as well. It is also fantastic. Heats up to very hot with the electricity only turned up to medium. The lips on the skillet make it easy to pour food. The double handles are also very good. It was a shame my husband took to it and burnt sugar on the base. I am working on cleaning it without destroying the patina. Highly recommend this pan, but for inexperienced cast iron pot users, it may take a little while to get used to the characteristics.

Le Creuset Won't Stand Behind their product
2 March 2023

I purchased this skillet lecreuset.ca back in Late November 2022, received it by Late December 2023. I have used it a total of 3 times by February 2023, under low-medium heat, as I used it to make pancakes, eggs, and sautee some veggies. Upon the third use, (veggies), I noticed the smallest chip in the enamel within the pan. I contacted customer support, thinking that Le Creuset would stand behind their product. They do not.Rather than admit to a small manufacturer defect and send a replacement or repair, they rejected the warranty claim, and instead try to get me to repurchase the item. When looking to purchase between Le Creuset and Staub (their main market competitor) I know where my money will be going.

Owned cast iron cookware set when much younger!
6 August 2024

My father-in-law taught me to season cast iron cookware you must lightly oil it and put it on medium heat for 30 minutes or longer! It will form a slick patina! Then let it set and cool completely off! If you want to go through this process again you will know the cookware is completely seasoned and then lightly oil it again then put it away until ready to cook with it! You never just wash cast iron always put it away oiled! Also before placing food in cookware heat up first on medium heat and make sure cookware is hot then turn temperature back down a little as it will be ready for cooking delicious meals.

I got the product today. Online the color on my device looks like it has a pink undertone. The reality is it looks like the meringue color display instead. A mushroomy biege. It is not an attractive color to me. But the price was excellent and heavily discounted for the 9 inch size at time of purchase. It is a handy size but it just doesn't fit well stacked between sizes of my ancient cream interior glaze small (22cm) and large skillet (26cm). These pre date the current classic skillet. I've also got a very small (16cm) one if those and I like this signature shape over the other two types I have. The workmanship on this one could be better, the glazing over the lettering looks crude and pinholed. However, the helper handle is an excellent feature and 9 inch is large enough to do a two person dish. The helper handle is sized large enough to use a pot holder securely. The advantage of the black satin finish is it does not discolor. It is not a substitute for a no stick. You have to use butter or olive oil with almost anything. Makes excellent frittata with nice browned bottom crust.

Takes time to learn to use it, but worth it.
20 February 2024

The quality, like all Le Creuset is amazing. It DOES take some getting used to, and admittedly I’m not 100% there yet! It’s the whole low and slow thing. Medium heat is like a high heat, so it requires low-medium heat and it takes longer than your average frypan. It is not non stick, you need to use oil, butter etc. As long as you read the instructions and follow directions (try to ignore everything you’ve ever known using other frypans), you’ll get there. It is a process though, so don’t give up! They're a beautiful looking pan and the flavour they give your food is so good. Theyre an investment, not only money but time and effort learning how to use them but worth it all. I love the fact I’ll have it forever.
