I bake a lot and this mixer is making all the difference in time spent in the kitchen. It’s a very heavy mixer but I don’t have to worry about it tilting over because it’s sturdy. It was ready to go straight out of the box and I immediately made a pound cake that came out perfectly. Batter was so smooth and no more holding the manual mixer while trying to pour ingredients. Made a frosted chocolate cake from scratch for the first time and it was so moist and perfect. Has a splash guard and multiple mixing tools. I didn't even know you could buy the specific BOWL to really give your Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer the final creative touch to complete your kitchen look. The ceramic bowl locks into place just as easily as the metal or glass bowls do for use and really give your mixer the final pop for look in your kitchen.I started using my stand mixer so much that I got tired of moving it from the pantry to the counter top every time so I decided to keep it on the counter top. Adding the ceramic bowl complimented the stand mixer so much and really made my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer more of a focal point in my kitchen rather than an appliance on my counter top.

Kitchen Aid means Kitchen Art!

I have been baking more often in the last few years because of being at home more, but had resisted investing in a stand mixer because of both price and size. I didn't think I baked enough to warrant having a mixer on my counter all the time, or spending hundreds of dollars. I was happy with the nice hand mixer I had....until I realized how some doughs and batters needed a bit longer or slower mix than the little beater heads were capable of. Plus, my arm or hand would get tired of holding the mixer and the bowl, or it would get awkward in trying to maneuver both. At 65 years old, I finally decided I would entertain the idea of a stand mixer and started to do the research. I knew Kitchen Aid would be the way to go because of its great reputation stand mixers, and I wasn't interested in the cheaper brands and off-brands. I liked the tilt-head design over the bowl-lift because it seems to give more access to the bowl and beater for scraping or adding ingredients, plus the slightly smaller footprint and height was better for my needs. The Empire Red color is absolutely gorgeous and is a perfect match with my red quartz countertops, so it's perfect to stay out on the counter - the beautiful design and contours make like an art piece! As to the functionality, having never used a stand mixer before, I found it very easy to learn and use, and it mixes very effectively. I love how I can put in the ingredients, turn on the beater and step away to to do something else in the kitchen - no more standing there with my arm getting tired or wrestling with holding the bowl steady. This is wonderful. The only thing about this set that could be better is the coated flat beater and the aluminum whisk that comes with it. The coating on my beater came chipped and although KA replaced it promptly, I noticed something I didn't like - when I slid the beater onto the mounting, there would always be a little puff of aluminum powder coming off the raw aluminum inside the hole. The mounting post would scrape the inside of the beater hole and you'd see the little puff of powder. I didn't like that at all, didn't want any aluminum in the air or in my food, no matter how small. My other issue was with the aluminum whisk - you can't put it in the dishwasher because of the oxidation and it would turn it dark - so you're supposed to hand wash it. It is very difficult to wash batter and dough off a whisk and even when it arrived brand new, it was covered with a sticky grime that was really unappetizing. Even hand washing that wasn't easy because it was hard to reach all parts of all the wires and wanting to make sure I got all that grime off. So, because of these two issues, I had to invest more money to buy the stainless steel whisk and stainless steel flat beater which are both dishwasher safe and no worries about coatings coming off or the wires oxidizing. It's too bad the original whisk and beater are useless to me, I hated to waste them, but I didn't want to use them and just donated them. I think KA should just provide an upgrade option when purchasing this mixer so you can choose to upgrade the beaters you want, at a nominal fee, so they don't have to waste sending out the lower end ones that many people seem to be complaining about in the reviews.Overall, I am extremely happy with my new stand mixer, and just seeing it on the counter makes me want to make something just to use it!

Love this mixer - more pros than cons!

This mixer was a birthday gift for me. I love the color! I have always had a two-beater mixer; despite my skepticism on how this mixer would work, I kept it and have been using it regularly. Each time I'm a bit surprised at how well it works. I've made pudding (from scratch, so the whipping mechanism was needed), bread (using the dough hook), and banana bread (using the regular paddle). I haven't used the extra plastic guard for pouring. I'm not sure why I would but perhaps I'm missing something useful. In any case the mixer works well, without my needing to scrape the sides of the bowl often. I like that the bowl itself is light, and I love the handle on the bowl. Also it isn't clear to me that the lever that keeps the mixer unit locked down works correctly. It cannot be pushed all the way to the end of the slide area - it goes only about halfway. I've tried to see if this is normal via the user manual and online information, but haven't found an answer. Since it seems to work, I've just assumed it's fine. It's an expensive mixer, and I'd never purchase it for myself for that reason, but I'm glad to own it.

No longer working only 2 years in

We had no issues with this mixer until last week (about two years after purchase, conveniently shortly after the warranty period ends). It just makes a noise and doesn't spin anymore. Guessing it's a similar issue to other reviews here talking about the plastic gear that seems to break pretty often. Of course the warranty is only good for one year, and to purchase extended warranties, it would have cost half the price of the product itself, which is just absurd. Based on our experience and reading through other reviews here, it seems Kitchenaid is no longer making the quality products they used to. Yet, they are still charging an extremely high price for a product that very likely will not last much longer past their one year warranty. Yet, they are still charging an extremely high price for a product that very likely will not last much longer past their one year warranty. Apparently to get this fixed by Kitchenaid, we would have to pay about $57 just to ship it to a factory and have them diagnose the problem, on top of another $50-200 to fix the issue, or find a local authorized repair shop which will likely cost the same or more. I'm sure even if I choose to pay to fix it this time around, given this seems to be a common issue, I wouldn't be surprised if I have to do this again in another year or two. We are beyond frustrated with Kitchenaid and likely won't be buying another appliance from them. I would recommend steering clear of this mixer as it's no longer the quality product it used to be. Giving this two stars as the mixer worked very well at first... until it stopped working.

Not as good as my previous KitchenAid mixer
10 October 2023

I had my previous KitchenAid mixer for close to 15 years before I replaced it with this one. I don't use the mixer every week, but have some regular things I bake. I used the mixer to make breadsticks, which require a 7-minute knead on medium/high. I had made these dozens of times with my previous mixer, with no issue. When I made them with the new mixer, the motor burned out at about 6 minutes! I alerted KA and they were quick to replace, so I assumed I maybe got a faulty one. I've since used the new mixer a few times, and on another bread-like bake, had to quit early in my planned 6-minute knead because I could feel the top of the mixer getting really hot--which is what happened before the motor burned out on the first one! I am so disappointed. I don't think it's ... MoreI had my previous KitchenAid mixer for close to 15 years before I replaced it with this one. A bummer given I love to bake, and the mixer was expensive.

The best mixer!
17 March 2023

I have had a kitchenaid stand mixer for over 20 years, and I wanted a new one. The old one worked perfectly fine, but it was white and wanted a pretty color. I went with the custom order. I liked that I could get something engraved on it. The engraving overall is nice, but they didn't capitalize one letter and one letter was kind of scratched and hard to see, and for what I paid for it, I would think that would have been better but I do love it none the less. The ice color is a little more blue, I thought it would be a little more mint in color. Again, I love it none the less. I tell my husband all the time, it is the most beautiful mixer in the world lol. I did splurge as well and got the mermaid ceramic bowl. Absolutely stunning! I was whipping up some bread dough ... MoreI have had a kitchenaid stand mixer for over 20 years, and I wanted a new one. I was whipping up some bread dough tonight and I could not for the life of me get the ceramic bowl out. I thought I was going to break it, so I called customer service. She was wonderful! She gave me the tricks to get the bowl out. I didn't go with the mineral oil (too messy) but the hot towel at the base for a few minutes, and the bowl came right out! Don't be afraid to call customer service! Very helpful! I had a million memories with my first mixer, now I am so excited to create a million more with my new mixer! You won't regret it!

You Don't Get What You Paid For

For a $450 product, I expected better. The item arrived dirty, as though it had been used, or kept in an unhygienic area. There were dirty smudge marks and dust in several areas. Some of the finish was not done properly; the whisk has "rainbow" scorch marks, either from welding, or, again, prior use? And in several areas, the pink color was not painted to the edges on the body. As for performance, it does its job. It whisks, beats, and kneads. I have not experienced a KitchenAid that jolts as much as this one, but perhaps it was from intense kneading. Overall, I think I would have been more satisfied purchasing this product from a retail store. I am disappointed it arrived from the parent company in this condition. Additionally, if there are other stand mixers for a more reasonable price, I suggest you opt for one of those, as this is not worth $450 the way it is.
