I need an ambidextrous to reduce continuous stress on my arms, both of which have some repetitive stress issues. This one works well and gets at least one cord off my desk (also reduces the imprisonment of cord placement). I'm not the best with remembering to turn it off at the end of the day, and I find it a little hard on battery life. And I have small hands--I'd like it smaller. Great Simple Mouse. No 100 buttons to learn. Scrolling takes a little to get used to. I like the dual connection of this one: USB dongle or Bluetooth. Note: most of these are dongle only. Nice and compact. Own two now.

Have used trackball-style mice for years. Always shied-away from wireless mice due to fear of running out of battery at the most inopportune moments. Based on reviews I have read, the Kensington products always seem to rate well as far as durability and runtime. Figured I would try one. So far I am not disappointed. I like the 'feel' and have not had to adjust anything to have it do what I need to be done. I have been using it steadily for 2 weeks now and most times I forget to turn it off when I am leaving/shutting-down my laptop. It is doing very well indeed. I would recommend it to any trackball mouse user without hesitation.

Some liked to migrate around my desk. If you have the luxury of building your desk life around a trackball, there are other choices but this one just works everywhere... even under Linux. Scrolling works in both the standard verticle direction and (when the shift key is pressed) horizontally ... and it does so out of the box. The Vertical scrolling isn't as fast as some other trackballs but it is more than fast enough for short-to-medium distances. The unit itself is short enough that it doesn't get knocked off a keyboard tray (when closing it under the desk) and compact enough to easily travel. Size-wise its comparable to a large travel mouse. And... while I assume it works this well on Windows and Mac, it does all this on Ubuntu Linux 22 out of the box. The only config change I had to make was to (essentially) clear out the changes I had made to get another trackball functional. Note: this review is of the newer version (K72352) with bluetooth. The older non-bluetooth versions use a usb transceiver that is hardcoded to the trackball and can not be replaced if lost. Stick with the ones that have bluetooth (unles you're very very careful with the dongle)

This Kensington Orbit Wireless Trackball Mouse is too wide but the worst thing is the round track around the ball is active all around so when moving the ball to move the mouse pointer or trying to click the outside button (could be left or right depending which hand you are using) quite often you touch the orbit track and the page jumps. This makes it tiring to use because you have to constantly have to be careful not to touch it my mistake. I see where one reviewer went as far a removing the ring. I think Kensington shoul come up with software to disable it or some kind of protective cover for the ring to keep it from being touched inadvertently. Or ... so much better than a mouse, yet, not a clumsy, huge, spaceship looking thing. you can keep it anywhere, hold it in your hand to use it. no sore anything. use any of 3 fingers to roll the ball. i might suggest a design what could be held in the hand, easily, for use anywhere, including in a pocket. i love it, perfect.

I design and modify passenger vessels and so precision is very important to me when plotting and the horizontal ball doesn't require reorientation of the reflexes like the vertical balls do. Worse yet, most of the others are just at an angle and not square to the world. This is my least favorite of all the balls I have previously had as the clicks are on the side instead of the top and the screen up/down function is from a sensor around the ball mounting opening instead of a wheel and I am old and have cold hands so I find the sensor somewhat insensitive to my requests, otherwise, I like it, it's physically small in size and so fits ... I accept that this is the new world order and not enough of us bought the old style balls to make it pay for Kensington and so they have come out with this compact model, and I will get used to it! It works nicely in small spaces.
