I purchased Keen sandal a few years ago and like how comfortable it was and decided to purchase another pair in the different color while I was on the trip at Zion National Park.I wore the new pair for a day and noticed how uncomfortable it was and it started to cut my skin for rubbing against the shoe straps around the ankle.Looks like new pair was tighter around ankle straps and the cut on the side was a half centimeter difference from what I measured although it was a same size and same style.I submitted the claim but I was told will need to speak with the original retailer about a return/exchange for this pair because the shoes were purchased withing 30 days.As I already back from the trip and it's not convenient to reach back to the retailer.I ended up ... MoreI purchased Keen sandal a few years ago and like how comfortable it was and decided to purchase another pair in the different color while I was on the trip at Zion National Park.I wore the new pair for a day and noticed how uncomfortable it was and it started to cut my skin for rubbing against the shoe straps around the ankle.Looks like new pair was tighter around ankle straps and the cut on the side was a half centimeter difference from what I measured although it was a same size and same style.I submitted the claim but I was told will need to speak with the original retailer about a return/exchange for this pair because the shoes were purchased withing 30 days.As I already back from the trip and it's not convenient to reach back to the retailer.I ended up leaving that new pair of shoes because I can't wear it.I don't think I will buy any new shoes from Keens due to inconvenient return policy.

I'm confident that if I ever had catastrophic boot failure, I could still hike out with the Keens.Like all shoes, I'd suggest trying them on first as everyone's feet are different. I normally wear a size 9, and got the 9.5, so keep this in mind if you order online w/o trying on first. The Keen Newport sandals are well designed and constructed. I have used them for a variety of activities for over a year and definitely recommend!

Fell apart after a couple uses. I bought these to have down at the lake as the beach has lots of rocks. I needed something kind of rugged, but waterproof too. I've never had a pair of Keens but had plenty of other brands of hiking shoes. Oboz, Salomons, Merrell to name a few. I've always heard good things and read good reviews about Keen so I figured I'd try a pair. They were relatively expensive for a pair of sandals, and figured for how expensive and big of a name Keen is in the hiking shoe/boot market, figured they might be worth it. So I pulled the trigger and tried them. I've maybe used them a handful of times, 3-5 times down at the beach on the lake. The tread pretty much even looks brand new still. Pretty disappointed for how expensive these things were.

Purchased Keen Men's Newport H2s on May 24th and decided to "test drive" them today after a misty, drizzly morning in N. California. I did a 3-mile walk/hike that covered gravel, asphalt and trails.Fit - because I only went 3 miles I need more time to evaluate, but the support was good and they seemed to "break-in" quickly. I am going to try another walk with insoles for increased cushiness and hope it does not affect the support. I will also try cinching them a little looser as the top of my feet were starting to feel sore by the end.Hiking / stability - These are not for hiking and why my title is "Four or five stars? Depends on how you use (them)". The trail I was on was wet because I intend to use them in wet areas. However, the trail I was on was uneven (see photo) and the stability was not good - no ankle support, but "duh" these are sandals. I would use trekking poles if were to use them in similar conditions.Because the ground was clay-based, and wet, the bottoms became clogged (see photo) and made them extra slippery during this part of the walk. Thus, depending on the conditions during use they could be **** or *****.
Our local store was dealing with the aftermath of the Anniversary Sale so we had used the sizing chart on REI that's provided by Keen. I measured the recipient's feet multiple times using different methods to make sure we were ordering the right size since shoe brands sometimes size differently. According to the sizing chart posted at the time, a size 7 (7.6" foot) Men's would've been been the best fit. However, the recipient usually wears a size 8 in Saucony and other brands. Factoring in a potential growth spurt, I had ordered a size 8.5 for the Keen Newport H2 sandal... which turned out to be too small! so REI helped us order a size 9 and shared where the size chart came from so I could follow-up with Keen. I purchased a pair of the Newport H2’s in Canteen/Campsite. I also own pairs of NP H2’s in brown and Triple Black. These seem to be of the same excellent build quality that the older ones have. My only concern is that the insoles of this new pair may be of a different material than the older ones. This pair has a dissimilar color than the black insoles of the older pairs. The new insoles seem to have a bit more of a ‘plasticy’ feel under my bare feet. I’m taking them on a Grand Canyon rafting trip and expect them to perform flawlessly. I normally wear size 10’s but always get these in 10.5. They fit very well.
I got my shoes about two weeks ago, and I've already started to live in them. I'd describe them as "hiking sandals", as they let feet breathe while having a sturdy sole and straps that protect your foot from the trail (or city sidewalk). I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the shoes look, too, as they're very nice looking with a pair of khakis or jeans. They're equally comfortable barefoot or with socks, and don't rub and cause blisters, either. They're certainly excellent summer shoes, but I'd also wear them in spring or fall, as they deal with rain very nicely. These were a great success from the day I got them.P.S. The little plastic "button" at the end of the laces on one shoe popped loose while tightening it. I’ve worn Newport H2 and Venice sandals for decades. I was lucky to snag a pair of the latest Venice sandals as they aren’t available (again). But I also wanted to get a new pair of Newports to replace my old pairs that can still be worn but are pretty ragged. Unfortunately this was the first pair of Keens that I had to make a decision as to whether to return them or not. I am returning them. They have changed the design and these are narrower than all my previous pairs. If you’re still committed you can go up a half size or more as the product description suggests. That actually is the first clue that the design is different, never before have they had to display that suggestion. That actually is the first clue that the design is different, never before have they had to display that suggestion. My problem however is that I have worn Newports into the fall and winter with warm socks. There was plenty of room in the previous versions to accommodate this without feeling cramped. I don’t believe a half size up would have helped with this re-design. I am disappointed as for many years Keens were the only footwear I wore with the Newport being my primary shoe of choice.
I have always loved Jesus joggers bc though I love socks when it’s cold they make ur feet soft and soggy….I have worn keens for a while. After I first discovered them I have worn the into oblivion and then I get a new pair. This is my 5th pair bc my last pair I got into an accident and lost one of my keens riding a Harley on the 1 in California. i don't recommend riding in keens but you have to understand…I love the feel and freedom of them on my feet that much. Also its quite possible that if I had been in my constricting boots that my leg would have been caught as I went off the bike and over the rail and done more damage…I always cut the laces off my keens as thats the one thing I dont like about them and I dont need them. If I do I just make 550 cord laces which work as emergency line on trips and adventures (free marketing idea:)…so the sandal just popped off my foot and my leg slipped out through the bike and guard rail sandwich that I rode into. Anyways I cant tell u enough about these shoes….but here’s one more. I just met this bum who may have been an angel and he was walking barefoot. We got some coffee and I went back to get him my keens as he said he was the same size as me 9.5. So I brought him my "on the verge of oblivion" pair bc thats all I had. I gave him the marketing pitch I give everyone about these shoes and that he could just slip em on for light duty and pull the back strap up when he needs to but his foot was so wide from hardcore bum life that he had to cut the back straps off and then they worked perfect….Yah! so I really like these shoes. Thanks for making these. <3
I love these shoes - have had a pair (or two) for over a decade. Needed a new pair, found them on the Keen website, purchased and was looking forward to trying them on. My feet are size 9.5 in most shoe types. I've always bought 10's in Newports because they run small. This time not even the 10's worked. I had to return them. That was irritating because I had been able to take advantage of the 25% off sale on the purchase and that was no longer available. Plus, I did not know if the shoes I bought were just mis-sized or do I now only fit in 10.5's. I certainly don't want to pay delivery fees over and over to figure out exactly what fits (if anything).
