I wore these for 8+ hours a day for a week while working and not once did my ears hurt. I also wore these a couple times while taking my dog for a walk and the open design makes it way easier to hear my surroundings and it also allows me to talk to my wife as we walk. They also feel very secure in my ears as well. The open design does have some drawbacks though. The noise canceling isn’t nearly as good as the JBL Live Pro 2. You will still get some background noise bleeding through. So for traveling I will likely still use my Live Pro 2 earbuds.I was really impressed by how well these sounded though. I listen to a lot of hip hop, reggae, and rock. I was pretty impressed with how the guitars and cymbals sound. While the low bass lacks compared to my Live Pro 2 it’s surprisingly good and the Live Flex actually has better sounding highs and mids than the Live Pro 2 earbuds. Even with less bass I would have to say that these do sound better than my Live Pro 2 earbuds. The guitars really ring compared to the Live Pro 2 and the mids sound much cleaner. These also have spatial audio, and the little bit of content that I listened to with spatial audio sounded really good.Battery life has been as advertised, I typically work 3-4 hours, take a lunch, then work the remaining 4-5 hours. I let the earbuds charge while I’m having lunch which is usually around 20-30 minutes and that is enough to last the rest of the day even with ANC turned on. I was easily getting around 4 hours after only 15 minutes of charging.I haven’t taken too many phone calls with these earbuds but one that I took, I was listening to music while working on my PC, my wife called and when I answered the earbuds switched immediately to my phone. The whole process was seamless and after I hung up they switched back to the music playing on my PC. Plus the call quality was crystal clear and my wife had no idea I was using my earbuds. One of my favorite features of all the JBL headphones I have used has been the JBL Headphone app. The app has a great 10 band EQ and the Personi-Fi test does a great job at tailoring your earbuds to how you hear music. The app also has a setting to limit the max volume to protect your hearing, which can be turned on or off.Overall these are great earbuds but they might not be for everyone or every situation. If you do a lot of traveling and want to only hear your media. I wouldn’t get open stick/ear earbuds but if you want great sound with the ability to clearly hear the world around you. These are a fantastic choice.

I attribute this to the quality build of the product, but also the customization that was provided through the app. The Spatial Audio also improves the listening experience.I've had these on since they arrived and have been streaming music for roughly four hours of continual use, to include taking a couple of calls, and currently have about 80% charge left.

I try using them cooking and they fall out in the food. Try working out with them and they fall out while I'm lifting my weights. It's something in the design that stops them from staying in my ear tight and secure. I hope this review gets to somebody that can relate and maybe adjust the size to fit a ear like mine.

Great product held back by comfort issues

I was intrigued by the Live Flex because it’s rare to see ear buds with no silicone tip. I don’t think I have ever seen them with active noise cancelling (ANC) before. The promise of crystal clear phone calls was a bonus because this is typically where true wireless (TW) buds have failed me. This review will focus on those differentiators which make the Live Flex standout in a crowded category.First the ANC. It is important to remember without silicone tips you do not have good sound isolation. No amount of ANC will change that. If you want to be totally immune to your surroundings these are not for you. However, the ANC works surprisingly well. I wore them for several full days of working from home. They did not have a huge impact there because the majority of the noise is from my children’s mouths. Children talking has never been a strong point for ANC. I also wore them in a busy commuter train to NYC. Here the ANC was much more impactful. I stopped using my other TW buds when I commute because I had to listen at such high volumes on the train. These solve for that beautifully. I imagine they would be ok on a plane, but I’ll still always prefer an over the ear option in the air.the calls were noticeably clearer than any other TW buds I have ever used. I conducted about 20 hours of zoom and Google meet meetings with no complaints. A huge win for travel.Sound is great. Vocals come through clear. The bass is impressively present. Even booming during heavier tracks. I listen to a wide range of music from punk rock to hardstyle and these didn’t feel like wearing an audio sacrifice. That is a common problem with any type of in ear option and I felt perfectly content with these.Comfort is where I took away a star. I was super excited for the design, but they started to feel uncomfortable where the top of the bud meets the inside of my (ear bowl?). After about 75-90 minutes the discomfort predictably sets in. It’s minor discomfort, but rules out the possibility of these being the only headphones I travel with.

Great sound, bulky fit, bad latency
29 July 2024

They sound great, the bass is certainly the punchiest I've ever heard from a pair of earbuds. They are pretty big in terms of size, I'd say they're much bigger than the airpods gen 2 and for me personally, they hurt my ears after 40 min or so of listening whilst I didn't have that issue with smaller earbuds. If I were to describe how they fit in my ears, I'd say they are thick and therefore push the skin in my ear canal outward when they're inserted properly. The airpods 2 for me however, fit my ears so well that I barely even notice they're there at all.So if the airpods 2 fit your ears well like they do for me than just bear in mind that the JBL Live Flex ones are much larger. However it was the technical issues made me return it. The latency is often really bad, to the point where you see lips move in a video way before you hear them speak. On top of that, they have a separate mode for music or video and you have to switch between the two manually (it won't do this automatically). The music mode has a different sound profile compared to the video mode and video mode apparently has lower latency (in my experience they were about the same in terms of latency however). That means whenever I go from music to video or vice versa I have to1. Open the JBL app2. Switch audio mode3. Wait for the buds to disconnect and reconnect4. Enjoy my content. It just feels to me like a band-aid solution to a problem which is that they have bad latency. The app was nice to use but I don't want to HAVE to use it all the time. The point of earbuds for me is to pop them in and start enjoying content right away, I don't want to fiddle with settings that much.So they might be great for someone other than me, someone with bigger ears and who listens almost exclusively to music I'd say is the ideal person who should buy these. But they're just not a great fit for me and my needs.

JBL LIVE FLEX TEST

I was allowed to test the JBL Live Flex for all the time. Even when unpacking the headphones, you catch the eye of how high quality they are packed. Even the packaging is visually very appealing. I used the headphones with the associated app to customize them. The headphones also have the search function if one gets lost. I was very impressed, about the sound of mine is about the headphones on a call or when I take up a voice message. Even with extreme background noise during a voice message or on the phone, are completely filtered. I have probably never had such a clean tone on the phone. I feel the headphones of the volume to listen to music. I would have liked her personally a little louder, but it also depends on the setting. For example, I preferred more bass to which the volume suffered strongly, so I expected more. The size of the headphones themselves are not too big either, but for me personally so large that even with a long time I do not have the feeling that they are not in it, but it is individual from ear to ear. For a comparison, they are slightly larger than AirPods 3rd generation. But on the whole amI very satisfied. I also never had the feeling that I would lose the headphones while wearing. The connection to my iPhone was quickly done via Bluetooth. However, at the beginning I had some problems with the associated app, because I always wanted to crash the software of the headphones because of an update, which was quite frustrating. On the whole, I can say that the headphones are particularly suitable for people who make a lot of calls because the noise filtering is really breathtaking. The headphones themselves also feel very high quality, but it is a shame that you cannot adapt the size of the headphones themselves. If you have smaller ears, I would rather advise against it, since they are a little bigger. However, I think they are ideal for normal ears.

Live Flex-great earbud for working/studying.
8 February 2024

The Live Flex earbuds are very interesting in the world of earbuds. Interesting in that they are an open design earbud with noise cancelling. I have used them mostly for working/focusing as I have difficulty getting a good seal since there is no rubber surround. But that is ok because when I am working, I like noise cancelling but still want to hear what is going on around me. I also dont have the occlusion effect of rubberized tips which is great for long study/work sessions. Interesting in that they are an open design earbud with noise cancelling. I have used them mostly for working/focusing as I have difficulty getting a good seal since there is no rubber surround. There was too much airplane noise coming through since there is'nt a rubber surround to provide passive noise filtration. A closed rubberized earbud tip might be better suited for air travel. Even though they don't create a seal per se, they do have great base response. The app is a definite must to achieve the best sound because the EQ works well. The hearing test was difficult for me to discern but the EQ adjustments are fantastic in dialing in the sound suited to your sound liking. There is also a locating the earbuds feature in the app too which is pretty cool. The quality of these earbuds are fantastic! Soft touch plastics, rubberized interior, and magnetic earbud holders in the case makes for a nice, and overall high end experience.I haven't used them for working out because they fit too loosely in my ears. I'm not sure they would stay in my ears with all of the bouncing about on a treadmill. There is also Voice Assistance perference settings in the app too (Siri vs Amazon Alexa, no Google). There is a lot of features in the app...just download it and play with it.Overall, these are great ear buds but make sure you prefer an "open" design vs a closed (rubber tips) design ear bud.

Quick Connection and Great Sound!

Initially receiving the earbuds, I was a bit skeptical considering that I am accustomed to the 'sealed' ear tip design. Transitioning to the 'open' tips felt like uncharted territory, but it was worth it. Surprisingly, even during extended listening sessions, the earbuds maintain a comfortable fit. Yet, it is worth noting that the trade-off for open tips is a slightly reduced effectiveness of active noise cancellation. The ease of connectivity was a pleasant surprise. Within 30 seconds of unboxing, these earbuds seamlessly synced with my phone allowing me to jam to some of my favorite tunes. Touch controls on earbuds have often been a source of frustration for me, but JBL has nailed it with their implementation. The touch controls are intuitive and hassle-free. A single tap on the left earbud toggles active noise cancellation, while tapping the right earbud handles music playback, calls, and Siri activation. All in all, these earbuds exceeded my expectations, offer a comfortable fit, seamless connectivity and user friendly controls. I look forward to using these earbuds daily :)

Sonically, these are terrific performers. Excellent bass even at lower volumes. The highs are crystal clear and come very close to audiophile quality. The build Quilty is very good, but the lid on the case seems a little thin, and if not careful, it looks as though it can be easily broken. That hasn't happened, but it's my impression. Battery life is excellent and the case is good for at least another full charge and a half. The buds themselves will last a full 8 hours. I did not get to try them out on a phone call, unfortunately. I do like the "flat" case designed allowing you to set the buds in flat as opposed to dropping them in vertically. I did have some trouble with them, though. No matter what I tried, I could not get any real volume out of them.

True comfort with quality adjustable sound

I was an “only” wired ear buds kind of person, but I had been wanting to try wireless ones to see why my teens loved them. These JBL Live Flex True Wireless Noise Cancelling ear buds have changed my view. They fit comfortably snug in my ears, they provide freedom to move freely, the sound is so crisp, and the noise cancelling is almost too good. Watching movies or my fav show with these ear bud with the noise cancelling on makes sound so vivid and enhances the experience. Learning to use the “tap” for answering calls or pause took some getting used to for me as it is sensitive. The app provided a way for me to adjust sound for audio/video, “find my buds” sound locator, and all the other adjustments I am still learning about.
