It was difficult to give this sound bar only a 4 star review, because overall I am quite happy with it, but please allow me to explain. This is the first sound bar that I have ever owned for a Television, so I have nothing else to compare it to, however, I chose this JBL because I read COUNTLESS 5/5 Star reviews online about how it is one of the best tuned sound bars in existence, many people even comparing it to BOSE sound bars stating that the JBL is better.Perhaps the reviews I read had just overhyped the product for me, I am not sure, but here is my short Pros & Cons list for the JBL 2.1 Sound Bar:PROS- VERY Easy / Simple Setup and Remote Controls (literally plug and play, absolutely no thinking required)- Powerful Sound, great for Music listening, ... Certain sounds are SIGNIFICANTLY louder than they should be, for example, a whistle might be ear piercingly loud while everything else is normal volume, or dinosaur footsteps might shake too much when everything else seems rather well equalized. Other reviews have claimed that the frequencies of this sound bar are "perfectly tuned for all types of watching, gaming, or music listening" and I would honestly have to disagree, I believe having the option to tune it better yourself would benefit the product quite a bit actually.

From the moment i unpacked it, and easily mounted on wall under my 75 inch smart TV. This unit has been outstanding. From watching movies on Netflix, Hulu , Prime. Then listening to Pandora . It sounds amazing. When i blast the system, my subwoofer is skipping across ceramic tile floor. LOL. Walmart has the best price for $100 off. I highly recommend this soundbar system. Wifey and I, give it a High Five !!! Buy it, you wont regret it.

Very bad sound system!I was advised by a salesman to buy this 1 month ago from Harvey Norman, it was on special because they were phasing out the system. On setting it up, it took ages to work out how to turn on the subwoofer and then cync the system to the tv. It seemed to work (although the sound is not much better than the tcl tv) but on turning the tv off the sound bar disconnects from blue tooth has to manually be reconnected every time its turned back on??The other issue is that the sound is always out of lip sync with the show being viewed, be it tv or an app. As soon as I turn the sound bar off, the sync is perfect again, so it must be the sound bar. Then suddenly the sound bar makes a very loud deafening stuttering noise and the whole show is paused. After 10 years of just dealing with the stock speakers in our Samsung Plasma TV, I had enough. Not being a huge audiophile but having destroyed my hearing with way too many Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Motorhead shows, I knew that there had to be something better out there than the stock speakers on our TV. This sound bar is it. The sound quality is substantial. There's only a bass level adjustment and that's it. That's good enough for me. If you're looking for all sorts of EQ type functions, go look elsewhere. If you want a cool, solid sound bar, this is it. We mainly use this for streaming Bluetooth music. Tonight was The Ramones, Bob Seger and Robin Trower. All sounded great. Set up is super easy, even for tech challenged dopes like me. We had this sound bar up ... I went through 3 different soundbars before choosing this one. Lets just say at the $100-300 range you're not going to get audiophile quality. What you'll find at this price range is something that is louder and has more bass than your average TV speakers. This JBL subwoofer packs a punch but the highs are a little to strong and the mids are lost somewhere between the soundbar and the sub. EQ settings are limited to the 3 sub settings and volume controls at low volumes are too far apart. Like 1 is quiet and 2 is loud. 5-6 is about as loud as I would like to watch a movie.Compared to the other bars on the market, I feel like this is worth the money. The others I tried either lack bass or the clarity just isn't there. For me this JBL system works well for a bedroom ... MoreI went through 3 different soundbars before choosing this one. Got these as a replacement for an older Sony sound bar that finally bit the dust after many years. I took a risk having never bought a jbl product before. After this experience I would not buy another JBL product.First off, the sound is absolutely awful, I don't know how to describe it besides it sounds like the mids and highs are coming out of a cardboard tube. The sound is slightly improved if you turn off surround mode, but that sort of defeats the purpose of a sound bar in my opinion. Also, you have to turn this feature off manually, using the included remote, every single time you turn the device on - which is painful and absolutely defeats the purpose of using the soundbar with ARC connectivity (so you only need the TV remote to control volume).Second - ... Also, you have to turn this feature off manually, using the included remote, every single time you turn the device on - which is painful and absolutely defeats the purpose of using the soundbar with ARC connectivity (so you only need the TV remote to control volume).Second - the ARC connectivity itself doesn't seem to work properly - my TCL tv has a feature that automatically turns on and switches to an input if it detects activity - for example if I use my playstation controller to turn the console on. This causes problems for JBL soundbar, and it would not awaken out of standby mode, which for me, again, defeats the purpose of ARC connectivity.Last - the bass is WAYYY too heavy, even on the lowest setting. This is an absolute death sentence for gaming and TV audio. Maybe not so much if all you do is watch cinema style movies and listen to music.I quickly returned this one for a similar Sony model, and none of these problems exist in that soundbar. I would never take another chance with JBL after this experience.
I cant even express the level of disappointment. I had read so many reviews on multple sites that this set rocked. Vibrated things in rooms and on tables, upset neighbors in an apartment and so on. Advertised as such deep base, matches or betters 5.1 systems and so on. Well sad to say, not even close. The soundbar does have better sound across all three ranges than the tv. It also gets very loud with little to no distorting, in the soundbar. The sub has very low volume, the sound seems appropriate but volume is so low. I tried it all. Different channels, movies, news, sports, stereo, surround, pass through, pcm, auto, reset, pair, unpair, bass level, low, mid, high, tv, dieect tv & soundbar settings. Different channels, movies, news, sports, stereo, surround, pass through, pcm, auto, reset, pair, unpair, bass level, low, mid, high, tv, dieect tv & soundbar settings. Nothing changes the weak volume level even when i turn the soundbar to 20 and that is pretty loud to the point you cant watch tv like that. So even at that level the sub is still so weak. Not rattling or vibrating thats for sure. But if i was in the market for a good $100 soundbar no sub then the soundbar fits the price point and use but even that is not much better than my tv. 60" lg uhd 4k led over brick mantle fireplace and my regular tv sounds just as good as this system less any bass i can get out of this sub & some added bass to mid on the soundbar itself. Defective or other reason the hook was easy. I spent more time running wire management then actual hook up. HDMI ARC, power plugs, turned on and my tv auto switched and system was live. Then the troubleahooting began for 2 hours. Every settting, every reset, ever reconnect, every channel and type of show, movie, music and here I am, so deflated. I have always loved JBL. Ease of use but their actual quality of product snd sound. Big miss on this one for $250. I wouldn't take it for free before i would reather pay $100 for just the soundar. The subwoofer is useless. And if i am doing something wrong then even more reasonnthe system is junk, i am not brain dead but no professional sound guy either. Not hard to plug in wires and turn on with the expectation the product will work properly without any special efforts even though i put in 2 hrs of settings, power cylcles, reconnects, resets and so on.
