IronWolf 8TB NAS Hardware/Electronic

I was advised to use this brand and particular model by our IT department as the drives will be running a lot (NAS). Early days but the drives are quiet and allow me to access files quickly. They seem to have good reviews elsewhere which added confidence to buy them.

Excellent product and service

Excellent product and value. These NAS HDD were easy to install in my NAS drive replacing older drives. I should also highlight the great service from SCAN computers. Great prices, fast, fast delivery and excellent comms.

Iron Wolf HDs are great!

These HDs by Seagate are for my Synology NAS, and they're not only great drives, but the price at B&H can't be beat! As has always been the case for me, B&H shipped on time, packaged very well to prevent damage, and in the unlikely even you have a problem with any item, which I very rarely have, they take care of it! B&H always comes through for me!

Ordered two, working great.

Ordered two of these to start a raid nas and one of them came broken, easy replacement from b&h so no issue there, but I question the quality of these as this is the only drive I've ever purchased that one came broken. Giving 4 stars because the two I have now work great but I am concerned about the longevity. Will probably be ordering wd red pros next just to have separate brands backing up my data.

Recommended disk for you NAS storage device

This is the recommended disk for your NAS storage device as it is designed for constant use. This is compatible for use in a Synology NAS while not all SATA disks are on their capability list.

Review of Seagate 4TB IronWolf NAS Hard Drive 3.5" SATA 6GB/s 5400RPM 256MB Cache

So far so good. But pointless to give a rating on reliability when I have only had the drive for just over a week. Ask me again in 6 years time. :)

Use Scan rather than Amazon

I have a six bay NAS that required some replacement disks. I tried ordering them from Amazon but for some strange reason they only allowed a maximin purchase of four, so I searched and found 'Scan'. Ordered two disks. Both packages (Amazon and Scan) arrive on the same day. The packaging from 'Scan' was far better than that of Amazon. Given the relative nature of a Hard Disk it is important that the packaging around the disk be adequate to protect the disk. The disk itself, the outgoing disks were WD red. They lasted about six years in the NAS so they owe me nothing. Time will tell how long the Seagate disks will last, time will tell. However, the Seagate disks do appear to be a little faster than the WD red.
