ILFORD PAN F PLUS is an extremely fine grain black and white film. It has outstanding resolution, sharpness and edge contrast. These characteristics make it the natural choice where fine detail and lack of grain are more important than film speed. Mural size enlargements form PAN F Plus negatives show an outstanding range of tone and detail when the film is carefully exposed and processed. Although PAN F PLUS will give best results at EI 50/18, it will also render good image quality when it is exposed at EI 25/15.

I've shot this film only a few times, and processed it in HC110 1:100 for 60 minutes. I really love the results.

In the era of digital, I am still (like many others) using film in some cases. We have witnessed a huge increase in film prices in the last couple of years, and bying bulk film is a very good solution. Thank you BH!

Finest grain

I shot this film at 25 ASA and developed it using Rodinal 1/00 solution for 15 min. The results was amazing in terms of grain, tonality, contrast, and sharpness. The only drawback was when I tried to use a red filter for a bit of sky drama. It really does not work at all. It has to be used with UV filter at best. I wish it had more red sensitivity, but you can not have it all.

Great Slow Film
3 January 2014

This film exceeded my expectations and I will buy more soon. I love the sharpness, contrast, tonality, and the grain (or the lack thereof).Any problems that I've had with it had more to do with me and my bad exposure habits that I formed while shooting digital RAW the last few years.I decided to buy some black and white film for a project and now prefer, at least for right now, to shoot black and white. I recommend the Ilfotec DDX developer for extra smoothness and Adox Adonal (Rodinal) for sharpness.

Great film to bulk load
5 September 2017

Ilford is the best, most stable film company out there right now. PanF+ is a fantastic low speed film with very fine grain and lots of contrast. I've used it in fairly flat light with good results. Stick within a half stop or so and you won't go wrong with this stuff. Being able to bulk load this stuff just makes it that much more economical and appealing. Unlike Kodak, Ilford doesn't penalize you for purchasing 100' rolls.

My favorite film, in bulk!
31 May 2011

How do you really review film, objectively? I'm not sure it's possible. Different photographers have different film needs. Pan F excels at being sharp, and having a very distinct contrast. Some photographers prefer to start with flat film, and build up contrast in printing or Photoshop. I understand this viewpoint, and tend to agree. Still, there's just nothing quite like the look of Pan F, and it works really well for a great number of subjects. And buying it in 100' rolls is an economical way to shoot it. My all time favorite film stock.

PanF+ IS TOP-NOTCH!
11 December 2016

This is one fine film, but limited to certain lighting schemes. I like it for 35mm since it's very sharp, low on grain and has good tonality. That said, it's not a "walk around and shoot/snap" type film. It is more suited to using the camera on a tripod. If you can live with lower shutter speeds and less handheld shooting then it's a fantastic film. Team it with a good lens, proper exposure and good processing and you'll see what I mean. Oh, it is beautiful in medium format also!

Sharp images for sunny days
29 September 2020

I like to use this film on sunny days. I develop the film in XTOL 1:1, 7min 45 sec @20C. Film lays flat and is easy to scan. If anything it is on the contrasty side, but that is a look I like and can be controlled when developing, printing or in post processing a scan.

The most beautiful film.
30 November 2015

I love Delta 400, because I always want more speed, but when the sun is shining this film is unbeatable. It's just SO CLEAN. I develop it myself and when I pull this out of the tank it looks like little portals into other worlds, the negatives are just so crystal clean, it has the same effect as looking at slides. Yeah it needs light, and I don't think it pushes or pulls as well as Delta 400 or HP5 or whatever, but this is just perfect for when you have the light and want the absolute best quality you can get from your gear. I semi-stand develop it in Adonol, 1:125 for an hour, and it never fails to deliver.

great for home developing
12 June 2020

I used without my usual yellow filter since it is known to be a contrasty film. Shoot around ASA 25 in sun. If you home brew developers try Hypercat 1:10:300 and PG110B, both tame the contrast and give very sharp negatives. Will buy more as I seem to be using most of the first box up with more and more fun tests.
