Coil Issues - be aware

I really want to give this equipment 5 stars for when it is working, however a 2 year old unit with residential use should not have the coil die. The number of hours on this commercial piece is minimal. And my customer service directly with Husqvarna was poor as I tried to find out my warranty info due to my dealer purchase location closing. In the end...the coil was covered under warranty (for the life of the unit) however the labor was not. After speaking to two independent shops, I was told this is a consistent problem with these (and I believe they said Echo). When you spend this much on a machine you want something dependable. Love it when it works, but not sure if I could recommend it to anyone.

I’m not usually a review guy ( should have paid more attention on this one) but I felt compelled to review this tool. Bought this about a year and a half ago and it’s never been right. Starts fine most of the time but keeping it running is a losing battle. Sometimes it runs fine for a few minutes, sometimes it only runs good on 1/2 choke sometimes it just runs if you keep it flat. The end result is that you will pull on this thing until you puke and it still will never run long enough for you to finish your job. I’m typically a Husquavarna fan but their small engine tools are junk, at least the carburation. The reviews told me this tool was a problem before I bought it….wish I would have listened.

This was a replacement for a older Husqvarna commercial hedge trimmer that I also own. I'll start the review with the bad. First thing is the owners manual I received with the unit is not in English except for the 1st 3 pages and that is all safety and warnings info. I can see this being very problematic for the occasional outdoor power equipment consumer. For the non informed consumer how would they know the correct oil/fuel mixture if that info is not even provided in English? I own several other Husqvarna outdoor power equipment products that all require 50:1 mix ratio's so that is what I used in these hedge trimmers. I never use "pump gas" in my 2 stroke equipment and use aviation LL100 mixed with a premium 2-stroke oil mixed very precisely at 50:1. I never use "pump gas" in my 2 stroke equipment and use aviation LL100 mixed with a premium 2-stroke oil mixed very precisely at 50:1. I think is why so many people have problems with their 2-stroke products. They use pump gas containing Ethanol mixed with to much oil. To much oil is not a good thing for 2-stroke motors and will cause lean run conditions. After adding the fuel and priming the trimmers fired up on the 3 rd pull and I was surprised how quiet they run. So after a short engine warming period it's time for a carb tune. Due to US EPA regulations it's been my experience that all 2-stroke motors on outdoor power equipment is set way to lean from the factory. There are tools available online to adjust these anti-tamper fuel adjustment screws and they will need to be enriched for optimal performance! So after the quick tune it's time to put these trimmers to work. I have approximately 80 feet of hedges that surround the front of my property and several other smaller shrubs around my home. The 122HD60 performed flawlessly and are very fuel efficient as well. The adjustable handle is very convenient for trimming the front and back facing square shaped shrubs. These are much lighter weight then my older commercial pair of trimmers as well. The motor is very low noise and the vibrations are very tolerable is these trimmers. With correct oil to fuel ratio's (50:1) and non ethanol fuel I think you can expect many years of service with these hedge trimmers. Now if I can get Husqvarna to supply me with a owners manual in English I would be happy. No I don't want to download a manual from the website when it should have been supplied in the box!

So far so good

This is my first gas trimmer. I and my wife previously used a battery powered trimmer that was only capable of trimming small branches. This caused our shrubs to grow larger and larger every year and got impossible to cut back to a reasonable size because the branches had got too thick for our battery trimmer. After I got this gas trimmer, I attacked the overgrown shrubs and wacked them back down to size. The trimmer feels a tad heavier than I expected but is manageable for an old seventy two year old man. My wife is afraid to use it but probably could if she really wanted to. It is easy to start. I thought it would cut through thicker branches easier than it does. I've spent gosh knows how much on those battery operated lawn care tools. Finally said enough messing around and went back to what I know works. Good Old Fashioned Husqy's and gas powered tools. I have 5 acres. I dont have time to wait for batteries to be recharged, or to deal with the weak life span on most of these Green/ E-power tools. No thanks.I'll stick with the tools that work.Get yourself a Husqy (Husqvarna) and get the job done right the first time. The seller was fast. This showed up within a day or so. Wow!Works like a beast, as it should. Happy Happy.

I bought is 122HD60 about 3 years ago, I had to put in the shop today because it just would not crank. BUT, after doing a little research, I think it is my fault it won't crank. I got sick and was down for a little over a year. So it has not been cranked in almost 2 years and the old gas was left in it. After a little more research with gas left in the tank, it can be the reason for the carburetor problems. It might just need a cleaning, but I will replace it with a new one. Again, when it was running it was AWESOME, I promise you won't be disappointed. Just winterize in in the winter .lol

Living on slightly more than an acre and half this trimmer has been a great tool for yard maintenance. It is really great for dealing with unwanted shrubs and vines. Having been infested with wild black berry vines it goes through them with ease. The rotating handle is a very big plus. I highly recommend it for small property owners

23 May 2024

I just bought, today, a Husqvarna 450 Rancher saw. I used a friend's Husqvarna saw and was so happy with it that I decided to purchase my own. The size, weight and ease of use are important to me, and this one seems to fit. I am looking forward to liking this one as much as the one I borrowed from a friend. I needed to take down 6 large trees on my property and wanted to process them to use as firewood. Husqvarna helped me to be able to do this in a timely and efficient manner
