Easy to order and pick up from Cabelas in OKC. Unit was carefully packed. Dave at the sonar area explained sonars to me. Excellent compare and contrast with a demo of the 3 manufactures. I decided on the Humminbird model. Humminbird has much cleaner resolution in the 3 modes than other products.

Installed the transducer under my oldtown salty pdl 120 kayak and the fish finder looks great! Nice clarity on the water. If you use it at night it was too bright had to adjust the brightness/ contrast. Tracks my whole trip on the gps, allowing me to find my way back and mark my favorite structures, cover, and fishing holes. Was a pricey 800$ and my 1 day shipping was refunded. Took 4 days to arrive but hey still 5 stars.

Not a bad fish finder, but I recommend you spend the extra money to get the Mega SI. This finder has one button to scroll through the screens. Feels like I could wear the button out. Unfortunately Humminbird charges an extra $400-$600 just to get a finder with quick reference buttons. The map is basic but their are great map cards available. I do like the side image features

Exactly what I was looking for for my two man boat. Chartplotter worked great charting the small lake I frequently fish. Had a small accident and capsized boat and Fish Finder was upside down in water for over 30 minutes trying to get boat to shore. After ensuring a dry out, plugged it up to battery while boat in garage and it works great. I would give it 5+stars for being waterproof. Good job Humminbird! Now I just need to spend time getting more accustomed to features.
Just finished a trial run with the Helix 7 on my 17 ‘ Cape Horn in Mobile Bay. My first impression with this unit is less than impressive particularly the GPS feature. Accuracy doesn’t seem to be a problem but the details of features like channel markers, fishing reefs, etc are so small, it’s hard to read them while driving the boat. The SI is disappointing because you can’t read the left side due to interference from the outboard. Of all the many reviews I read prior to purchasing this unit, no one mentioned this potential problem and certainly not the store salesman.Would I buy this unit knowing what I know now? No
Nothing but problems from day 1. Down imaging showed like grass in a yard no matter what was on bottom. Dozens of phone calls and emails trying different things. Replaced circuit board when finally sent back. Image is ok but not as good as my 8 year old Lowrance. Now depth disappears from bottom of screen. More phone calls and emails. Sent back again only thing done was software update. Same issues. Sent back 3rd time with pics of screen with and without depth reading and a video of it disappearing an reappearing later. Told there is nothing wrong because they can't duplicate the problem so they can't fix it and won't replace it. They are sending it back to me after doing nothing and told there is nothing else they can do. Sent back 3 times in 6 months and dozens of ... MoreNothing but problems from day 1. I like the unit, and it works pretty well. I connects with my trolling motor to goto to waypoints, which is really handy. My regret, and the reason for 4 stars is that the whole point is to have side imaging. The screen is too small to really see what is down there. Other than that, it works great.
My first fishfinder was a simple Humminbird Piranha. Did the job, but I wanted more. Got a great deal on a different maker's 7 inch top of the line. Big mistake. Never worked properly. Terrible, incomprehensible manual. A lemon. Dumped it for a Helix 7 MSI G4. WOW! What a difference. Way better than the other fishfinder. Incredible sonar. The Summary Guide got me started quickly, and the simulations are terrific. Easy to set up and easy to use. Wish I had stuck with Humminbird all along.
Seeing the rebate from Humminbird for this product and the quality I thought I would receive is why I purchased this. I was able to power it up with the 8Ah cabellas battery I purchased to run this during half day boat rentals. Once I get some action, I'll update this review. What I want to point out is to make sure the power lines haven't been cut at the manufacturer. Which mine were as you can in the included photo. What incurred was a little noise but nothing major....after recutting and splicing the wires the noise was gone.I'm very happy with how quickly the unit powers up and the detail that you can see, along with the navigation maps it also included the brakish water and many gps points already loaded.
cable tray with lock like other models would have bee nice. I worry my cables may come loose on my in-dash mount.color of boat heading indicator is green which blends in with any areas that have been depth highlighted which makes it useless.Same problem with bouys being lost in color background.Suggest that ALL navigation/hazard bouys be CIRCLED with a COLOR that is NOT a background choice such as red/ green/ blue etc. must be some color that would make all of these markers STAND OUT.will let you know if and when I note other PROBLEMS.
