Hozelock 2401 Auto Reel with 20m Hose

Worked well for 1 or 2 months but we now constantly have trouble getting the hose to fully retract. Most of the time it will retract only part of the way. Pulling a section of the hose back out again and then releasing it sometimes solves the problem but quite often we have to pull the hose all the way out before we can get it to fully retract.

This product does just what it says in the write up. It is of fabulous quality and was MADE IN BRITAIN. Our choice of 20m length hose, means we can pull out the hose fully and wash the vehicle at the front of the house. The box/container the hose is stored in was successfully fitted to the wall by my hubby (who isn't a keen DIY-er!) This product makes life so much easier as the hose rewinds itself after a gentle tug. During COVID-19 we made a couple of raised beds and planted various pots with veg and flowers...this hose has made the watering (when the water butts are emptied) so much easier. I would fully recommend.

Bought the 40m Hozelock, and it it far easier to use than the wind up one it replaces. The auto wind mechinism is the one to get. A little disapointed in the housing covers stress marking on the tabs when putting it back on after connecting the hose feed up. Also for such a heavy unit the fixing screws are thin, used thicker ones for peace of mind. Pleased that one is able to padlock the holder in place, you cant be too careful nowadays. A well designed product, with a 5 year guarantee on online registration.

This wall mounted hose system works well and the hose is of good quality ( should be seeing it is of Premium Quality. There are lots of good features but the locking system for anti theft certainly is not one of them. Even taking into consideration the use of a long shanked lock as recommended by Hozelock does nothing for the security of the reel since the amount of plastic a prospective thief would have to cut through is only a couple of millimetres. I have had to fabricate a metal shroud to remedy this problem. Taking into consideration these facts I would say that this reel is vastly overpriced even though it works very well. Four stars only Im afraid.
Had to buy a new hose as old Autoreel was leaking from centre ( needed a new washer) but this rendered it unrepairable according to Hozelock. New one was easy to fit and works as it should do.
This is the third Hozelock Auto Reel we have bought for different spots in our garden so that should tell you what we think of this product! The couple of niggles we've had were not enough to stop us from our Hozelock winning streak. So our niggles. First the ball that sits near the outside end of the hose near the sprayer is too small. If the hose is moving quickly back into the reel from a long extension the ball can disappear through the flange into the reel. Believe me, it's hard to get it back out again. Also I use another sprayer attachment with more spin around options. One of our hose locations seem to have higher water pressure than the other taps. This meant the sprayer attachment kept on blowing off. My husband fixed this by creating an extra hose join ... MoreThis is the third Hozelock Auto Reel we have bought for different spots in our garden so that should tell you what we think of this product! Bought over a year ago and past warranty, hose does not retract at all and hard to unscrew the cover to check inside. Inside is likely rusted and broken due to rust stains leaking out from cover. Not worth the money and has the same issue as the other reviews.
The hose reel is easy to mount on a wall and can be easily removed in winter. All the attachments are included,I did use some thicker mounting screws than the kit provided, but those supplied would have been adequate. The reel can stow away against a wall and swing out through 180 degrees when in use. If you need an occasional extra length,a quick release extension can be attached. The thing is well made and looks the part, not cheap, but saves all the hassle of no retractable reels,no kinks either. The recoil mechanism uses a carriage which ensures neat return stowage. Best regards from Paul
Have been wanting one for ages but couldn't warrant the price. But it is definitely worth it. As lazy as it sounds I'd get put off using my last hose because the cheap real never worked so would rather use a watering can. But this changed that! Putting it together was fine although I fixed the Mount in the wrong place at first so I do need to get more wall plugs unfortunately but will do that next summer now. Won't dread watering my plants now, very pleased
Worked well for the first 6 months, then had problems getting the hose to retract smoothly but with a little fiddling around could get it working. At 12 months it has completely jammed. Not worth the money.
