The main notes that my nose detects are musk, rose, leather, and oud. These are the prominent notes from start to finish. I don't see vetiver in the notes but there's something here that reminds me of smoky astringent vetiver, it might just be the way oud appears. The oud is light and doesn't tip into the more tarry versions. Over the time I was noticing 2 types of fragrances developed from SR. If it’s applied heavily, musk takes over, and it has a strong but refined animalic note. Rose sits in the middle layer while leather stays in the background. If it’s applied lightly, rose is the dominant note with musk in the middle layer and leather in the background. The lasting power and sillage is extremely good. I get a good 8-10h and it radiates within an arms length. Santal Royal is perfectly unisex and can be worn in formal events, outdoor gatherings, casual and it’s better suited for fall and winter.

Santal Royal is a well-blended oud rose scent with a spectacular sandalwood accord. It has a great leathery drydown as well. Simple and high-quality, it is nothing too harsh or offensive like other niche ouds. It brings a traditionally Middle Eastern in style perfume and tunes it for a wester nose. Great price/value and works for men and women very well. I’d recommend trying this, and would consider it blind buy worthy if you are unable to sample.

Heady sandalwood softened by deep rose sensuality.

I purchased this perfume after falling in love with Mon Guerlain, finding that I loved wearing rose scents, but needing a fragrance strong enough to stand up to winter air. This was a bit of a risk as I blind purchased it, but I am so glad I did. The sandalwood is thick, sultry and lifted by the hint of musk, while the rose and faint whispers of jasmine round it out to almost invite another sniff. The first scent is very heavy on the musk and wood, but post dry-down it becomes more complex with a touch of powdery nature that brings out the floral notes.I personally think it's a fine unisex perfume, but I don't think I could bring myself to share the bottle to find out!

First of all, this is a unisex scent that is probably better for men than women. It is a heavy scent. The sandalwood note comes through very strong, but it is not musky. At all. In fact, it is one of the cleanest spicy scents I have ever come across.It is fine on its own, but like I said--it is heavy. I love pairing it with Le Male by Jean Paul Gautlier to bring it down a bit. I am sure other smooth scents would work just as well, though, so experiment to your heart's desire.Aside from how pricey it is, I have no complaints. It last ALL day, no question. It doesn't wear off. As others have noted, it has an extremely strong syrupy, almost chemical like smell when you are applying it, but once it hits your skin is transforms into the scent you want. Beautiful fragrance. You feel like Middle Eastern royalty. I do recommend you try it first though, because this is not your light fresh m/floral crowd pleaser. Personally, it is one of my top favorites in my collection. Bottle is elegant too.

Never will put anything else on this body

This definitely is my favorite scent, I think it’s the best scent my nose has ever had the pleasure of sniffing. The scent is very strong, oudy, woody, and has notes of sandalwood. I know my middle eastern girls will be very familiar with this smell. One spray lasts for hours and the bottle will permeate the whole room with its magnificent scent that it is placed in. I would not recommend this as a day to day fragrance, it is very strong and definitely more for special occasions or a night out on the town. And yes, this scent may be deemed a bit more masculine but it makes me feel empowered and like a boss when I have this on. I love it so much. Definitely worth the high price tag.

Smells very good

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my sister.Last year I have received a sample/tester fir this perfume and gave it to her and she loved it but too expensive for her as it only comes in 125 and 200 ml bottles.Perfect opportunity to purchase it for her this Christmas.She really loves it and it lasts a lot.It is very powerful. I could smell it in the hallway after she left even if she did not spray it there but in her room.Don’t think this is for everybody of course so do try to get your hands on a sample before buying it, but for now our friends and family said it smells very good.
