Guerlain L'Heure Bleue - 75ml Eau De Parfum Spray

I enjoy smelling this. I don't want to wear it, and I'm not sure I would want to be too close with someone who was wearing it, but I wouldn't mind smelling it on someone near me. There's a clarity and sharpness to it, not freshness because that's what Jicky does. The clarity of it is almost like alcohol, which might be the oakmoss. That isn't a favourite note of mine and I find for me it comes to dominate anything it's in (like Floris Sandalwood Patchouli room scent for example). I much prefer the Parfum of this to the EDP. In the contemporary context my mind goes immediately to "grandmother" when I smell this. But I can see how, through a different lens of a different era, this is entirely young and fresh, and masculine and feminine, all depending on the context. ... MoreI enjoy smelling this. Mitsouko Eau de Toilette / Eau de Parfum by Guerlain is a fragrance for women, launched in 1919. The top notes are: Bergamot, Citrus, Jasmine and Rose. The middle notes are: Peach, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Rose and Lilac. The base notes are: Oakmoss, Spices, Cinnamon, Vetiver and Amber. The difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum lies only in the intensity. The second is much stronger, which is why I prefer to spray it on clothes otherwise the smell of alcohol prevails.

It's definitely not for everyday at the office. It has an essence of that vintage powdery smell, but isn't as mature as 'Shalimar'.

Perhaps this is a flight of fancy but how imagination helps when tuning in to a fragrance, especially one of this calibre. The post WW1 world was brave and new everything had changed. Women had changed. The elation of the cessation of war was tinged after this conflict in particular by sadness, even a spirit of insouciance that foreshadowed the era of flappers, talkies, pleasureseeking and the Wall Street Crash. In some ways perhaps this spelled the beginning of a society in which the individual and the pleasure principle were both in the ascent after a long and bloody conflict which had involved huge parts of the globe.This is Mitsoukos message down the years. The important things in life are not the masculine, mammoth scaled, mechanistic, noise ridden abhorrences when the individual just becomes lost in a fog, disconnected from the soul. No the importance lies in those small, unbidden occasions when the soul connects with another, when skin connects with skin and emits a pale and lovely luminescence. But its not ethereal its physical. Mitsouko is bold, assertive, confident, a femme fatale yet soft, feminine and sensuous all at the same time.This is not a girly perfume. How do you review perfume?

The one thing about perfume is that it is truly personal and what smells good on one person does not smell as great on another!Guerlain's Mitsouko may be an "old" fragrance but it has stood the test of time and I have worn it for years and still get people remarking on it.It is not synthetic like many newer ones and lasts all day. I buy the Eau de Parfum rather than the Eau de Toilette - it is slightly more expensive but lasts far, far longer so is worth the extra money.

Mitsouko perfume

I have worn this perfume for about 40 years as did my aunt before me...and I feel that it is 'my' scent as I wear no other. I bought my first bottle from the Guerlaine shop in the Champs Elysee and it's still wonderful . It's strong but also subtle and stays on me without becoming acidic like some perfumesdo on my skin. People often ask what perfume I'm wearing and comment how lovely it is. I wear it every day and don't feel dressed without it.

No wonder it is classed in the legend catagory

This was one of the perfumes mentioned in a lot of blogs about it being a legend perfume. This one was invented in 1909 I think, and is still in production. That to me means it is a classic. It is sophisticated, very long wearing. A lot of people have asked me what I am wearing. I was dubious about liking it as the top note is peach, which I thought would be sickly, but it isn't. I love the depth of the perfume when the patchouli, cardamom and black pepper get released. I am going to try Gurlain Jicky next when John Lewis get it back in stock. Another perfume legend.

Simply The Best.

I first came across this scent at thirteen, when my Mother wore it. It seemed so beautiful, but switching between scents she settled on Shalimar and I on Mitsouko. Fifty years later(!), my mother asked me which scent I wanted for my birthday and from nowhere came the answer; L'Heure Bleu. It must have been waiting somewhere in my neurological nose and I am so glad it did. Nothing is as sophisticated, as powdery, beautiful and as I myself discovered, memorable, as this legendary classic. Please never, ever discontinue this act of miraculously creative perfumery. I love it with all of my heart. I really do.

Unparalleled Masterpiece

I’m a fragrance collector and tired of the “new stuff.” By going vintage, I have found the true avant-garde, new stuff, in the classic Guerlains. This will bring a literal tear to your eyes. It’s so complex, so unique and somehow moving to my very core. After smelling this, my fragrance journey would never be the same. If you know, you know.

Wonderful Classic!

I have worn Mitsuko since I was a young woman and it is still, in my more advanced years, my favorite perfume. There is nothing else like it and, although I have briefly tried other perfumes, I always return to Mitsuko. There was a time when there was an entire line of products with the Mitsuko scent which I enjoyed including: soap, bath oil, bath powder, and hairspray. I would like to request that you make some of those products available again.
