Love it. Jammed it 3 days after purchase. After one song I took my ear plugs out just so I could listen to it. What a beautiful sound it makes, with or without gain. It also plays a treat & is so much lighter than a solid body. 9.5/10.Gazman.

A limited edition Gretsch Electromatic guitar in Cadillac green. A quality guitar in every respect. For authentic Rock & Roll, Rockabilly or Jazz this guitar delivers that lovely clear musical sound, but also delivers a lovely driven sound that transports you back to a time when Rock & Roll began. It sounds so good.PMT are very clued up & knowledgeable and gave me an amazing deal on this guitar.

You always have to adjust the bridge before you play a fresh hollowbody. Just like a violin, you adjust your bridge almost right above the soundpost to achieve tone, stability, and intonation. If you don't even know how to take care of a hollowbody vs a solid body. LEARN. Don't complain like this dud below. Btw, it's a MIK (Made in Korea), which means it takes 4,000 miles to reach the East coast, and if came in perfect condition in the package, you're the luckiest player to own such a beautiful instrument

I have this model in a wine color. I own a lot of higher end guitars, (Ormsby, Zematis, etc) and yet this is the guitar I find myself drifting to over and over. There's nothing that can be said about this guitar that isn't great. The pick ups sound fab (I swapped mine for TV Jones, but NOT because the black tops were sub in anyway). The neck feels nice and smooth, the fit & finish was perfect out of the box. It looks great and dos turn heads. This is a fabulous value for the money!
Its a great guitar, workmanship is excellent, setup couldnt be better. I was once the proud owner of a 1964 Gretsch 6120 also in orange. It was a great guitar for its time but handmade is not always good. The neck had to be reset, it needed fret work. Then the binding started to corrode. I couldnt afford to keep it any longer. This 5422 is everything youd want in a Gretsch and modern build techniques mean greater playability and reliability. I love it, its well worth the price!
I came in to try, but not to buy, a blue sparkly Gretsch Duo Jet I'd seen on my last visit. I didn't need it as I have a 'Vintage Select' Jet Firebird single cutaway, but I just wanted to try the double cut. And they'd sold it. Then I saw this Gretsch semi. And it was orange! ORANGE!! I always liked the look of George Harrison's Country Gentleman when I was a kid (it was seeing him on TV that made me want to be a guitarist), and there was this guitar that was the same shape. But ORANGE!I tried it, and then I buyed it.
This is my second Gretsch in just as many months. Long story short, I am on the fence with this one and gave it the benefit of the doubt for four stars instead of three. First, it's a very attractive guitar and it's sound/tone is great. My biggest issue is that its play-ability is not as friendly as my other Gretsch. I find my hands being all over the place and muddying the notes. It's not as fast playing of an instruments and the strings require more deliberate and committed pressing of the strings. I am not 100% convinced this is my issues versus the design of the guitar and not a problem I've ever had in the past and since I don't experience any of this with my other Gretsch, I'm inclined to be more critical of this instrument.Again overall, these are my ... This guitar came with what seems like 11's, I normally prefer 9-46, but for the first time ever, I didn't care about string gauge. I just played and played and played. It is so comfortable to play that as long as it is set up well, it doesn't matter what your normal preferences are. I have kept the 11's for now. And oh my god it is gorgeous. The colour is even more beautiful than the pictures give it credit for. I can honestly say, that this is the most beautiful guitar I own, have ever seen or played. And as I said, it is not just a looker, it is a player. The Bigsby is great, stays in tune, which might be the higher string gauge helping, but I am sure it would stay in tune well with 10's or 9's even (at least well enough with 9's). Home, church, and with friends. I am 74, and grew up likening certain sound. The C neck and pickups make this g5422 just the best for me. Sounds great on my fender Blues Junior. And my spark, Love it.
