I have been making popcorn all my life (in my 60's now) and this is absolutely the best popcorn maker I have ever used! Period! Beyond compare. It is like using a speed demon and the popping experience is over so fast it seems like you missed it. It almost always pops every single kernel in it. (I have an electric range the setting is 8 on the large burner - use about 3/4 cup popcorn. Keep your purchased sealed bag of popcorn in the freezer. Further, only use virgin coconut oil - i like the cold squeezed coconut oil with the natural flavour left in because it comes out tasting like the butter is on it already...and it is the best popcorn oil and it is healthy for the body to boot! Don't put your popcorn in until the oil is hot, and then just snap the side lid closed ... MoreI have been making popcorn all my life (in my 60's now) and this is absolutely the best popcorn maker I have ever used! Don't put your popcorn in until the oil is hot, and then just snap the side lid closed and slowly turn the crank until you can not easily turn the crank any more, wait a second or two more for the popping to slow, lift off the heat, wait a bit for any last pops and open both lid doors and dump into a large pan and shake popcorn salt onto the batch lightly and you are done.). Do not melt butter in this popper or use other oils as they will spoil the heating surface. Further, if you are using coconut oil, you can simply use a dry paper towel to wipe out the interior and you can then put the popper away until the next time. This popper is well constructed, however, since it comes apart, it takes a bit of experimentation at first in putting the lid back on the popper pan, but it's simple and easy once you figure it out. If one of the new pans door lids isn't latching firmly enough, just open it and bend the catch downward a little and it will then snap firmly into place. Used as I've described, there's no reason, unless you burn your popcorn leaving some chard popcorn remaining stuck to the bottom, to wash the pan. Coconut oil is reported to be anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and even anti-viral, yet is a food that is reported to be highly healthy to both the exterior and interior of the body and very heart friendly, and also is reported to help over weight people loose weight, yet poses no weight-loss threat to thin people. Color me very very happy with this popper and wouldn't trade it for anything else. I hope this sheds some light on how good this popper is and how to get the best performance out of it. :)

This is my second one. Friends came by and I made popcorn. They couldn't believe how well it worked and talked so much about it I insisted they take it home. Consequently had to buy a new one for myself. By the way, they told me they stopped on the way home, bought popcorn and made a batch the same night. Next day they gave 10 bags of microwave popcorn they had to their neighbors.

Makes excellent tasting popcorn every time. Easy to clean. Easy to operate. I bought one of those microwave silicone poppers first. Waste of money. Should have bought this one first. Stop looking and buy this one.

Where to begin? First of all, I was never successful in getting the lid to sit on the base properly. There is a gizmo sticking out from the lid which is to be inserted into a hole in the base. Sounds simple enough, right? But this action caused the lid to be sitting lower by the hole and consequently not tight anywhere else. Thus, the steam was getting released through the unmatched areas of the lid, not through the steam vents. While the paddle itself was easy enough to turn, the whole contraption was too heavy to hold in one hand while attempting to control/open the sides. This resulted in popcorn going everywhere while attempting to empty the base into a bowl.Unfortunately, I had thrown away all my paper work. I will be sending this to ARC and getting my beat up ... MoreWhere to begin? First of all, I was never successful in getting the lid to sit on the base properly. I had a similar popper before so I knew how good this concept is. However, this popper has metal gears, so I believe that it will last longer. At first I found the rod helping to hold the top difficult to fit into the hole in the pan. But once you get it in there the first time it seems to work more easily.I have Lady Finger Popcorn that I'm using up & won't purchase again. It pops up much smaller, & I believe that is the reason that some of my popcorn stuck & burnt to the bottom of the pan. Next time I will use a slightly lower heat too. The pan cleaned easily after letting it sit overnight with a paste of Barkeeper's Friend. If you really like popcorn, or if you cook it up for your family, you will love this popper. It makes a large amount. The only drawback ... MoreI had a similar popper before so I knew how good this concept is. However, this popper has metal gears, so I believe that it will last longer. It makes a large amount. The only drawback that I've found is that it misses fitting into my cabinet by about 1/2 inch. So now my popper sits on top of the fridge. When popcorn is your favorite food, that is not a problem.
Absolutely WONDERFUL! I never knew popcorn could be like this! It is the perfect popper, can not mess up, clean up is simple and easy, all kernels pop and my homemade popping oil gets in every piece of corn. My oil recipe: 4 oz each of any vegetable oil, coconut oil, butter and 1 1teaspoon Turmeric, simmer together for 5 minutes on stove then store in fridge. I use 2tablespoons of the oil blend to 4oz popcorn, this makes a large bucket of popcorn, fills the popper up! I use sea salt that I blast in my NutraBulletrx for 10 sec...way better than popcorn salt! Now popcorn is my go to snack using this popper...drop the toxic microwave stuff!
You don't need the circus cart and dancing monkey to make great popcorn. The heart of the machine is the kettle. This kettle is top quality and well thought out. The design corrects several problems that are in the other popular kettles, and a better kettle could not be made at any price. The extra heavy bottom is an aluminum core, coated in stainless steel. It does a good job of spreading out the heat, even on a small burner. The top is held in place with a clever spring-loaded clip, it's easy to clean and reassemble. I'm happy with finding this, it was a good purchase.
The popcorn popper in the picture is not what you get. Instead it’s the cheap aluminum kettle. The send model 83-dt5676 the description and picture is for 83-dt 5677. And there is a lot of quality difference between the two.
This is a sturdy, well built popcorn maker. No plastic gears on this one. Everything is metal except the wood handles which are securely attached. I like the latch that holds the lid on, no way it can fall off when you pour out the popcorn. I was looking for a good quality stainless steel popcorn maker. I don't like eating out of the aluminum ones. This is heavier than the others and should last a lifetime of delicious popcorn enjoyment. If you're a popcorn aficionado this one's for you.

I wrote the company, they did not respond, They give you 30 days to return and am on day 29. so??
