We bought this for a holiday we took away for our 18 month olds room. Lucky he sleeps with white noise because this thing sounds like a aeroplane taking off. The quiet mode apparently makes no difference at all. The cooling is inefficient and we had to put the thermo stat several notches down to get it to the right temperature and it struggled even then to keep his tiny room cool. Would only recommend for living area where noise doesn't matter or an adults room who can sleep through anything. Lucky we got it on sale or I would have returned it straight away

Love love love it ❤️, I live in a studio apartment and it keeps my whole place cool. Definitely make sure the external hose is out the window and it's air tight otherwise you will only notice half the effect. Great product would recommend to anyone.

The AC unit is used in my bedroom on hot nights. It cools the room down quickly but I find it too noisy to use when sleeping, so just use briefly before sleep and during the night as needed. We managed to vent outside using duct tape. It doesn't take up too much room and looks good.

Good little air conditioner that I’ve set up in my lounge. Was a good price when I compared to others around. It pumps out nice cold air for the space. It is rather noisy for the size and the sleep mode doesn’t seem to make a difference in the sound. The window kit was okay, I rent a 1980s style house with sliding windows so the expandable window kit was about 20cm to small so had to cut plastic and use duct tape to help it fit. Would recommend if you don’t mind the noise.
For the price of this air con and how light and small it is it works really well. I have used it now for about a fortnight during very hot days ( 25 to 27 degree celsius ) in one of my north facing rooms ( it is a 4.3 X 5.2 m room, with a high ceiling ) and it does cool down the room to the point of being comfortable, albeit at maximum setting. It is not noisy. It is also very light that you can move it around the room very easily. For a 7KBTU air con it works really well for the situation I have put it through. Note during 1300hrs to 1400hrs on very hot days it only makes the room cool, not cold or chilly. For some of my family members this was seen as a plus point so I will give it 5 stars. The Goldair portable AC works like a charm. The cold comes out almost immediately and has been an absolute godsend during this heatwave. I have a small apartment so it brings the room temps down dramatically, though it might struggle in a larger open-plan setup. Being able to sleep comfortably despite 30*C weather and high humidity outside is just amazing. My main issue is the instruction manual: the installation page reads, “Pull various components of the window sealing plate assembly open… fix various components of the assembly”. What kind of wiseguy wrote this nonsense? It doesn’t help at all with the installation process, which only takes a few short steps to really complete and is not particularly technical. I had to look up a guide online just to figure out ... MoreThe Goldair portable AC works like a charm. The cold comes out almost immediately and has been an absolute godsend during this heatwave. Very happy with the purchase and does exactly as it should. Window kit was a little bit of a hassle to setup because its way too big for a normal sized home window, so had to make a few adjustments. Might need a coffee table to elevate the unit so that vent can reach the window. As for noise, in my opinion, its only a bit louder than your normal desk/standing fan. Can easily sleep through it if you manage to sleep through a normal fan at night. Overall, very happy with the purchase
Great for medium sized rooms. Will even make an open plan living area more comfortable by lowering the temperature by a few degrees but will not perform as well as it will in a smaller room where you can close internal doors. I used a piece of heavy cardboard in the window with a cutout for the vent instead of the window attachment as it is definitely not one size fits all and the cardboard is much more effective in my smaller awning window.
Mine leaks from the bottom on opposite side to the drain plug. And the hose is completely impossible to securely attach to the back of the thing. As it sits on a shelf above the bed in my caravan running it comes with wet bedding! If it weren’t for that I’d be happy enough. Cooling is ok but not great but that’s expected in the price range. The leaking and incredibly stupid unworkable design of vent hose is frustrating. I’d return for repair or replacement but I get the feeling a replacement would be no better, you just get the feeling it wasn’t ever made or designed with any consideration for quality. Typical of most appliances these days, cheaply made and badly designed.
The inexpensive aircon cools down my 11 sqm room but it's Very Loud, get the earplugs ready or have blocked ringing ears when you wake up. The sound you hear travelling within an aircraft cabin is half the sound this aircon makes, terribly noisy. The window kit appears to be missing parts, I see 4 slots for screws to hold the exhaust panel to the window slider but only 1 screw given in the box and it does not fit any of the holes. Shame that on low speed the wind speed is Very Fast and Very Loud and when switching to high speed its not much difference to the low speed. The saving grace is the price, I paid $319 from Target but would buy something more expensive in the future to get the sound down. Many of the online reviews I found to be misleading about the sound ... MoreThe inexpensive aircon cools down my 11 sqm room but it's Very Loud, get the earplugs ready or have blocked ringing ears when you wake up.
