System Specs:-i9 12900ks-corsair vengeance pro 5600hz-Samsung pro m.2-EVGA 1080ti ftw3This board performs well, and is packed with features. The boxing was nice, and installation was a breeze. XMP works great after a bios update, and overclocking is a breeze. Board has a great design with plenty of heat sinks.Would highly recommend this board for your build!!Cons: requires a bios update to avoid buggy boot posts and to be able to use/utilise XMP
I RMA'ed the first board I received because I could not get any post whatsoever. I had tried to update the BIOS using QFlash+, saw it blink and everything, but it never got to the point where the post LED codes started showing up at all. Got the second board - same thing - this led me to believe there was something I was missing. About 100 Reddit posts later and many things tried, someone said it was probably the BIOS. I ended up buying an LGA1200 Celeron processor on the cheap to diagnose. With this processor I was able to boot to bios and see that the flash did not work. I then flashed from BIOS, put the Gen 11 Intel chip in, and was successful in getting everything to work. Overall a daunting experience - and it doesn't seem like this issue with the Z490 boards ... I bought this with a 5600x and a gskill ripjaws 3600 kit. So far, the features are working and the (sale) price was an excellent value.The bios "easy mode" gets the job done for a user who doesn't care about overclocking. The advanced options are still accessible.POOR QC: the built-in rear backplate sticks out too far from the rear of the motherboard. The backplate pushes against the back of the case and the motherboard screw holes don't align with the case screws. This can be fixed by removing the backplate completely (it is screwed into place); or the mounting bracket can be bent to make the backplate sit closer to the motherboard. minus-two-stars for the poor QC.

The monoblock is very impressive to look at and has a very premium feel to it. It's not cheap plastic, but very well built. However, it's a pain to assemble. Especially since the block is very heavy and Gigabyte expects you to also connect very thin wires to very fragile connectors while balancing the board with one hand and connecting them with the other. It really is a balancing act since you're also trying to not touch the thermal pads or the paste. Make sure you have reviewed and installed everything the board requires. This makes it potentially frustrating for any troubleshooting (more on that in a sec.) I really love Gigabyte products, especially their Aorus line. I was an early adopter of the Aorus laptops before the brand became what it is now. So I was excited to make this purchase when I got my 10th gen chip. It looked very gorgeous in my setup. But I'm fairly certain I got a lemon. I spent two days troubleshooting, researching, second opinions. However, nothing I did resolved the thermals. I strongly believe this board was doing something weird. Completely stock, no fiddling other than fan settings. My fans would ramp up very frequently. I would be browsing with three or four tabs open, spotify and discord running, my temps would be fluctuating between low 50s and mid 70s. The voltage would be going from 1.1 to 1.4. Again, this would be stock. Locking the voltage to 1.3 with an OC of 5GHz, temps would immediately spike to high 90s in a stress test. My 9900k never reached those temps on my z390 master board with those same settings. It did weird things to my GPU as well. Playing Resident evil 3 remake, my watercooled 2080ti would suddenly jump to 70c while simple standing in a small room with little to render. Going back to the BIOS for more investigating, I noticed that my CPU was hitting 70c while simply being in the BIOS. I gave up and just deemed this board a dud. With all the hassle of disassembling the board, it really made me decide against exchanging it for another.

Got it in my petite Lian Li Air case so no issues tho. I can wax lyrical about this board while it just quietly does it's thing. Really rather overspeced BUT a seriously great bang for your buck. Now superceded by the Z790 but really it gives so little extra over this Z690 chopped varient your cash is better spent updating something else atm for those chasing fps or productivity heights (GPU, CPU etc).Seriously couldn't be happier for my £400 considering the competition. So I have not even got this motherboard working. I have a Ryzen 5600G processor, 32 gb of regulars 3200 g-skill ram, a msi 3070 ti and a MSI nvme drive. All of which is moot, because I can't update the bios to F13 which includes the 5600G CPUs. I can't do a regular qflash in the bios because I can't load the bios, I can't use qflash plus because it seems to fail every time. I got this motherboard in a shuffle and I waited till I could afford a GPU and CPU and ram,. Around Christmas it finally happened. But now the motherboard is basically dead to me. I have been told I need an older CPU to boot with so I can use the regular bios flash tools so my CPU will work. I don't have the money or access to old Ryzen CPUs, I'm just frustrated,.
