Gibson 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo Vintage Sunburst
Patterned after the iconic J-45 platform from the Gibson Round Shoulder series, the 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo hits on many of the J-45 features while blazing a trail all its own. A long-favored acoustic among the blues and country crowd, the Southern Jumbo is known for its deep, thick tone that hovers beautifully between midrange and low end while still allowing a sweet high-end to ring through. This signature sound emerges from the pairing of quality, hand-selected, Thermally Aged Red spruce for the top and rosewood for the back and sides. A classic tiger stripe pickguard rounds out the vintage look and styling. Grab a Southern Jumbo, hit a fat E chord, and hear why so many acoustic enthusiasts here at Gino Guitars love this guitar. The Gibson Southern Jumbo is crafted from a combination of Sitka spruce and mahogany — the same time-tested tonewoods used since 1942. This storied combination delivers a warm, resonant tone with plenty of projection. The Southern Jumbo is the type of acoustic that can fill a room when unplugged or saturate a stadium when amplified. Fingerpickers, strummers, soft-touch players, as well as hard-hitters alike immediately recognize the incredible response this iconic acoustic lends to a variety of approaches across an array of genres.

I have always wanted to add Gibson to my collection. This is easily the most average sounding guitar I have ever purchased. Very disappointed in the sound quality and disappointed in what is supposed to be an iconic American made instrument. And to be fair, there may be an issue with the guitar. I was told by the Reserve Sales team that there would be a set up/new strings put on the guitar prior to delivery. This was not done. The E would not stay in tune. Changed strings, still the same issue. Not sure if it's a neck or fret issue, but regardless, had the set up/new strings been done as discussed, I believe they would have seen this issue, as it was apparent in the first 5 minutes of opening the box. .The guitar feels good in the hand and looks amazing. Excellent action, easy to play. Maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe I got a bad one. Not sure. Returned.
