This has been wonderful for my loved one who does not close their eyes when sleeping at night. Lasts longer than drops(even gel drops) to provide protection from severe dryness, in my experience. I have been very concerned because of the risk for permanent eye damage that comes with chronic severe dryness. (problem that has been going on for a long time, so months not days). Good price compared with similar options from other brands or product lines.Worth trying….. will definitely buy again!

I’ve used this for a long time. I started using it in my eyes but in the morning it took a lot to wash it out so my vision was not blurred with the ointment. Now I use GenTeel gel drops for severe dryness in my eyes and this ointment on the outside around my eyes to protect my skin from the drying gel that inevitably seeps from the corners of the eyes. This combination has worked wonders and I no longer suffer the effects of dry eyes. I highly recommend both the ointment and the gel drops.

I used this for about 6 months at bedtime, according to my Dr.'s instructions. I used a different eye drop during the day. i began to like the Genteal so much better that I started using it in the daytime. I just put a tiny bead in the outside corner and also in the inside corner of each eye. It's easy to apply too much. It soothes my dry eyes and alleviates redness much better than ordinary tears.I think I'll not buy any more daytime drops.

I have dry eye aggravated by my eyes coming open while sleeping and getting even drier. The Genteel Tears Severe dry eye nighttime ointment keeps my eyes comfortable and moist all night. Don't accidently order the gel. It doesn't last the night. The competitor is Refresh PM, also good but was not available for a long while. Both leave grease around and in the eye which must be cleaned away in the am. But the residue in the eye continues to moisten it. Treating my eyes daily with Theratears Nighttime Liquid Gel vials and Genteal Nighttime Ointment eliminated the need for goggles or moisturizing heat to provide relief from dry eye.
If you have severe dry eyes, I recommend this ointment. It takes some time to adjust to the feel of the product in your eyes. But, I awake up with no eye pain in the morning.I have not tried other brands and often finding one that works for you can be trial and error. I hope you find a good product if you have dry eyes.
This was first recommended to me by my eye doctor when I was first diagnosed with dry eyes. I have tried other brands with the same ingredients since, but always go back to this one. It seems to work the best for keeping my eyes lubricated, so much so that I only need to use this once a day, and nothing else. It is very thick and goopy, but you get used to it, and it works so well I don't mind it anymore!
I have used the Gen Teal gel for a couple of years. It helps but quickly dissipates. In error I bought this. The Gen Teal Ointment. Wow! It is so much better and I get longer lasting relief. The tube is tiny but it packs a punch and very little is needed. I will be buying the ointment from here on out. 100% recommend. The Gen Teal gel was recommended by my eye doctor about 2-3 years ago. Possibly there wasn’t an ointment at that time?
Try this stuff! If you have extreme dry eyes, you should give this product a try. In the mornings, I use to feel like I slept all night with my eyes open... under a high speed ceiling fan... you get it. Well, that is in the past. It only takes a tiny bit to sooth and lubricate your eyes all night long!
My ophthalmologist recommended this for my dry eye disease. After a few weeks of using it I now look forward to putting it in my eyes before I go to sleep. it makes my eyes so more comfortable without itchiness. However, you should know that it does cause temporary blurriness so I only use this before I go to sleep.
