Actually I’m not sure how well this works. I have to take it on faith that it actually does anything. I have used it for several years and my machine continues to work well so I will keep using it. I think it’s a bit silly asking me to review this product.

It is a solid machine that does the job well. Very stable and looks nice on the counter. The digital timer is nice so that I get the exact correct amount of coffee every time for my pour over. It is very neat and doesn't spray coffee grounds around like my old machine. It operates at a slow steady speed so as not to heat up the beans. It shipped from New York to California and arrived in perfect shape. This machine is highly reviewed and listed by Wirecutter as the upgrade pick. I am quite happy with it but I have only had it for a week or so.

Replacing the Gaggia solenoid valve YouTube video should be a must for everyone new to a espresso machine at home.This is a Positive review for the Gaggia decalcifier. If you are a little lazy, like I am, and you neglect your cleaning duties attached to your espresso machine you will be watching that video. Whole latte love also has a short video on how to descale your machine. Very simple albeit a little time consuming so you might as well clean all of the parts at once. Honestly, this isn’t a lecture but you invested in having great coffee at home. Take care of your machine.

My accademia was misbehaving, with a slow flow due to hard water from SoCal. I believed the pumps were damaged so I purchased new ones. I changed the pumps and without luck the flow was still under 5bar. Instead of throwing the machine away we decided to decalcify and ran 2 bottles through the pipes. This decalcifier fixed our favorite toy :)
To keep my Gaggia Valasca Prestige coffee maker maintained I use Gaggia DeCalcifier Liquid when the notification comes on my machine to decalcify. The deCalcifier liquid is easy to use, and once my machine has finished the decalcification process, I go back to brewing excellent coffee. I know my coffee maker is operating at its peak performance giving me the best tasting coffee. The Gaggia DeCalcifier liquid Descaler provides excellent quality. I highly recommend it to keep your Gaggia Coffee machine operating at its' peak performance.
I’ve bought this a dozen times. Every time I place an order, I later get an email asking me to review the product. The cleaner works great, much better than the email system that prompts me to leave reviews. Consider the one star review directed toward the annoying butts who think spamming my email is a worthwhile practice.
This is my 4th Gaggia Classic I think. The first one purchased in 1989. I strayed once and bought a brand from that famous coffee company where I live. They have lasted about 9ish years (one didn't--it was refurbished and one I bought while living in France for a couple years, so I ordered one from Italy and it stayed in France). My last one was 10 years old and began failing this last year. I keep them clean and have had to take into shop if I don't because something clogged...so decalcify even if you don't think you need to. Lots of videos on taking care of your machine and replacing parts. This new one is best improvement. Sound reduction and better steam wand. Faster milk steaming. I’ve used the Gaggia descaler in my Gaggia Brera before with limited results. This time, I let it soak longer at each step and it cleaned the system well. Also, I didn’t run as much solution through the system; just enough to “flush out” the previous “soak”. I started out by only running about 1 1/2 cups throug the system (to get out any water from previously making coffee), then let the solution soak for about 3 hours. Then, ran about a cup of solution thru the system, let it soak for about 30 minutes, and repeated the process until all the solution was gone. I was catching the solution in different containers so I could inspect it. The solution from the first and second soaks was real cloudy. Then, as I neared the end of the process, the soak solution cleared up.

This is an absolute must for machine maintenance. I hadn’t descaled my machine in months and had to completely take it apart and clean the boiler because i had scale blocking the solenoid valve. I watched the YouTube video from WLL and it wasn’t difficult but took the better part of a day. At least i know how to do a complete tear down now haha. The moral of this story is buy decalcifier and clean your machine!
