Gaggia Classic Pro Coffee Machine Stainless Steel
The Gaggia Classic’s design enriches your home barista experience – new side shape that makes the water level visible, a renovated drip tray to improve stability during the brewing process and an iconic filter-holder. 15bar pump pressure Simultaneously brewing of 2 coffee cups Professional chromed brass group and filter-holder Professional steam wand with 2 steam outlets 3-way solenoid valve 3 filters for ground coffee and pod Cup holder Removable drip tray Solenoid valve The three-way solenoid valve relieves pressure in the filter-holder immediately after pulling a shot. Water empties from the filter-holder via the open valve and ends up in the drip tray. This leaves the coffee pucks relatively dry, making it easy to clean. Traditional Gaggia boiler It guarantees great espresso quality thanks to the excellent temperature stability during the whole brewing process. The 15bar pump pushes the hot water through the ground coffee at high pressure to ensure better-tasting crema-topped espresso. New intuitive user interface The traditional rocket- buttons and indicator lights for on/off, espresso preparation and steam dispensing allow you a total control of the functions.

Nothing compares to this for the price. Paired with a decent grinder and some dialing in with the help of a scale, I'm getting consistent quality shots. The steam is surprisingly powerful and can create perfectly textured milk with some practice. Some gripes: the stock portafilter feels cheap compared to the rest of the machine (which is very solid and nicely built). There is not a lot of clearance for a cup between the drip tray and portafilter spouts, particularly if using a scale (looking to get a bottomless portafilter to address this). The steam wand is a little too rigid (fixed rotation rather than a ball joint). Overall, the machine far exceeds what anyone should expect for the price and I would recommend it in a heartbeat for a first machine. Dispatch and ... MoreNothing compares to this for the price. A great little machine that makes excellent coffee. If you have used one of the entry level brevilles, Sunbeams etc and wondering whether the Gaggia is actually better, the answer is yes. But it’s good to have a quality grinder to go with it as dialling in the appropriate grind will get you an even better quality coffee. You will read a lot online (probably from the Americans) who say it you need to upgrade this machine with a pressure control kit to lower the pumping pressure; that it needs an advance heating thermostat kit to better control the temperature the coffee is brewed at. None of this is necessary and likely doubtful that it will assist in getting a better cup of coffee. If you know what expresso coffee is and understand the basics of how it’s made. you ... We bought our Classic Pro for our caravan and we love it because it’s the real deal and can brew amazing coffee in the right hands! An old classic revamped and improved a couple of years ago. It’s a great little machine, but Gaggia could have done it even better without adding to the production cost. Never mind though, because if you’re into modifying stuff, this machine has heaps of fans who mod the heck out of them! Its strong point is that it has a very powerful heater and a small boiler and compact size. The brew head is situated directly under the boiler, so heat is transferred to the brew head very efficiently. A big plus is the weighty solid brass 58mm portafilter so that you can upgrade baskets easily if you want. The OEM baskets and shower screen are good quality stainless steel, and so is the shower screen. The ever-reliable high quality Ulka pump and a 3-way solenoid valve complete the main features of this little “prosumer” machine. To get the best out of this machine, you really do need a good grinder, so budget at least $500 for a good one. A good pairing is the Rancilio Rocky Doserless. The supplied plastic tamper is rubbish so throw it in the bin and get one that’s at least 58.55mm in diameter. The plastic tamper will only result in sub-par results due to channelling. Actually, I would recommend a good adjustable and weighty distributer in lieu of a tamper as that will solve most user issues right out of the box.Its weak point is steam pressure which is only fine for frothing milk for 1 cup. If frothing for 2 cups, it starts to run out of puff at about the 50degC mark and then you have to coax it along until it hits 65. The steam wand itself is superb, but with such poor frothing performance, Gaggia really should not have supplied it with a two-hole steam tip. However, this is easily remedied by blocking up the inner hole of the with a wooden toothpick and will result in a much better-quality texture! The drip tray is a pretty decent size too, but the downside is that you need to choose your cups carefully as there is not much room under the portafilter spouts.Sure, there are compromises with the Classic, but this is part of its charm. Next up the rung is the legendary Rancilio Silvia, and that comes with a bunch of compromises itself. Just learn to live with the Classic’s little foibles and enjoy the great coffee this little wonder can produce!

I have been using coffee pods for many years, prices going up, quality down…. I tried reusable capsules and grinding my own beans. Not quite working for me. I researched “proper” coffee machines and this one kept popping up. After much research and following my sons’ suggestion of watching Alternative Brewing videos I purchased this machine. I have had it for around 8 weeks now, used it everyday. It didn’t take long to perfect my technique, now I am brewing coffees as good as I would get in a coffee shop. I absolutely love the Gaggia an added bonus was the fantastic price! Did I mention Alternative Brewing's excellent customer service? They were quick to respond to all my enquires while making my decision to purchase and fast to ship. I can highly recommend this ... Had the GCP for about 2 months now and I’m super happy with it. I was on the fence choosing this machine because of the reviews regarding steam pressure and not being able to see/adjust brew temp so I bought the following mods: Mr shades PID kit (which fixes the steam issue people are concerned about)9 bar springSilicone gasketRocker switch mod (for wifi power switch)Vst basketBottomless portafilterThe difference after these mods is UNbelievable..ridiculously good results for the price of the machine + mods! Well worth it.Side note: You will need a very good grinder to use this machine to its full potential. This is a great little machine that gives you the manual experience. This has a massive community in the UK and US who make changes to the machines to improve them as you grow. It has some design flaws that people have improved such as the 15 bar pressure and the small gap between the portafilter and the drip tray but you can get round this with different techniques. For the cost, this machine is amazing so you can save some pennies for a decent grinder! Highly recommend this machine.
I bought the Gaggia Classic Pro along with a Sette 270 as my first espresso setup, with no experience owning a proper espresso machine. I'm really happy with the quality of the Gaggia and there are quite a few mods that can be purchsed for the gaggia to improve your coffee shots (worth researching these in advance).Things to keep in mind when deciding to buy this:1- This is a single boiler machine with no PID (no temperature gauge) so you will have to learn to temperature surf. This will become a bit of a pain when running multiple shots and steaming milk so be prepared.2- The steam wan on the Gaggia does not tilt up/down which is annoying and makes steaming a little bit more challenging than other models.3- The portafilter on the Gaggia has a proprietary wing ... Luckily you can get a bottomless portafilter for it which meets the main requirements (but no wooden handle ones)4- The clearance between the drip-tray and the standard portafilter does not leave enough space for a scale to measure shots... so you will have to remove the drip tray for this or invest in bottomless portafilter and an off-market low profile tray.
I’m still in the early days of using it but love making a very hands on coffee. It is easy to use or can be as difficult as you wish to make it if controlling your coffee shot is your thing. The Gaggia is well designed but does not come with any talent. I am still learning skills like getting the milk just right and finding my perfect brew recipe but I enjoy learning things like that. I hope after a few weeks I’ll have my perfect recipe down pat. A great machine for budding amateur baristas but you can also get a good consistent brew using the easier pressurised basket with supermarket grade ground coffee.
I have been using Moka Pot Caffettieras for many years; I always said that they were enough until I got a new job where they had a manual espresso machine in the office.. this changed things. I researched a lot, and rather than go with an 'appliance' machine, I thought it would be wiser to go with something with a learning curve and the ability to modify in the future if required. Enter the Gaggia Classic Pro. I received my GCP around a week and a half ago, and I am in love. It has taken a little time to get the process right, but now I can enjoy my morning coffees without regret. My fiancé likes the coffee it produces; however, she hasn't attempted to make one herself yet. Alternative Brewing were fantastic to deal with, the few questions I had they answered ... I have used an automatic machine for years, for convenience, but it turns out I was kidding myself. It just doesn't come anywhere near to this on flavour. I researched the **** out of manual coffee machines and this one is the most recommended for value. All I can say is - it makes a great shot and AB has the best pricing. Negatives - the ****** plastic tamper should be thrown out immediately. The baskets are 59mm and this thing is 55mm - it is a pain to use and usually results in coffee on the bench. Also, there is not much room to fit in a large cup, so I will end up with a bottomless portafilter to get the clearance I need. Otherwise, great machine for the money and worth the extra effort over any automatic machine.
